My flight arrived in Stansted only after 22hrs - and though having pre-booked my taxi, I was nervous about arriving at Greenways Lodge before they officially closed their reception at 23hrs. Which, of course, is a reasonable time... 
But the host stayed up, received me very friendly well after 23hrs (there are streetworks and closed roads... long story, long way), even sold me a cold beer and was very accommodating.
Will stay there again if I again book an overnight flight connection!

Super-friendly host

Had an overnight stay here for an early flight next day. The lodge is in the middle of nowhere so own transport or taxi is necessary to get here. Interaction at the reception was minimal, was just given the keys to the room and was on my own. The room was in a small annexe behind the main building and had a basic level of cleanliness if a touch cold. Shower was not much more than a trickle, and there were some coffee making facilities. However don't expect to have a great night's sleep as the walls are pretty thin, you could hear people in the next room, plus the lodge is on the flight path to Stansted. Overall this place is adequate for one night but not anything longer. 

Served its purpose 

Stayed in one of the rooms not attached to the house, I thought it was really cute and  cosy! Very clean and the gent who owns it kindly gave me a lift to Stansted at 6am which I thought was really nice.

Only fault I could say is the wifi is not free.

Ideal place to stay if you're not there for very long & needing to get to Stansted!

Cosy and clean

Arrived 8pm ish checked in straight to room no problems. Room is ok 
 converted garage maybe but warm and clean. There is noise but your by an airport ! Owner gave us a lift to the free airport transfer at 7am.

Worked for us

Booked this place for my elderly dad and my brother for a last minute business trip. Their flight was delayed, which meant they arrived after curfew. The b&b was contacted by email with flight details and a phone number because their own phone number was invalid. They could not be contacted. Brother and dad couldn’t get through on the website phone number to tell them flight was delayed, or to get directions. The upshot was they had to sleep in the hire car and Greenways refused to waive the noshow fee (via booking.com, they are still uncontactable!). Money for doing absolutely nothing!! Should be disgusted with themselves. Policies are fine, but to be so uncontactable yet grab the money while hiding behind an agency website is a total disgrace!

Disaster! Total Scam

This was a last minute booking as we had a funeral during the day. Arrived late to check in and was asked to pay immediately and given room key , No. 7 , then was told we had family room ! Our reservation was a double ensuite!
As it was pouring with rain, dark and the room being in rear of the premises, we just dropped the bags in room and departed for a family meeting. On returning, which was late , we realised that the room was what could only be called a large shed separated by a walkway from the main house. The gutter outside the entrance was leaking like mad . The door is similar to a part glass kitchen door with big key . The first mug taken from the cupboard was filthy , there is a huge spider under a glass in the bathroom. T.v in bedroom on wall no bigger than a laptop. No teaspoons, coffee maker or hairdryer as specified. The heater controls were under a flap which was screwed down and the room was unbearable, open windows if you want more aeroplane noise .The owner has a note which says that a £30 charge would made if the room was not left clean !!! This is also a non food establishment, with nowhere locally to find any . I have added photos , judge for yourself. Also £2 per day for WiFi code !!

Never again !!!!

It is impossible to get to the hotel directly by transport: you have to walk 25 minutes on a very narrow road without a sidewalk and it is dangerous! The host offers a shuttle but you have to book two days in advance and this is not at all obvious on the site! This was not our case, we had to pay £5.

Absolutely to Avoid

Where you are taken hostage if you don't have a vehicle: no place to eat dinner - the local pub has been closed for a year! So the owner offers you to order a pizza - bad and expensive - gorgeous.

Don't go there

My family and I spent one night in this accommodation, due to flight at 730. It is a hotel that is located about 15 minutes' drive from the airport (to reach the Greenways from the airport we took a taxi and spent about £13 - excellent service), immersed in the English countryside. Unfortunately it is on a sidewalkless road and has no restaurants/pubs in the immediate vicinity; therefore, on the owner's advice, we ordered a delivery pizza (good and convenient service). The room, with private bathroom, has turned out to be more comfortable and very spacious for three people.

Near the airport

It was convenient for people like us who had the Ryanair flight at 6:30 in the morning and the alternative was to either sleep at the airport or take a taxi from London, since at night the stanated is not served... we were in 4 and they gave us a small apartment but there was everything, microwave, refrigerator TV etc.. plus excellent cleanliness. The owners are not the highest and on payment by credit card they charge a huge fee, especially on the website where we booked there was written that there was to be a shuttle in the morning but they called us a taxi which we obviously paid for us.
