Took the family for dinner. Unfortunately they seemed to of had kitchen issues, calling in another chef after we had ordered. As much as the meal was reasonable at best. The excruciating long delay spoilt the evening. Whilst a round of drinks was welcome on the house, did not cut the mustard. The establishment had recently changed hands we believe. Will return at a much later date, when hopefully things will be a better experience. Here’s hoping ….

Totally Disappointing

Brilliant time, lovely food, landlady fantastic.
Warm, welcoming , we will back. Sarah is the new publican and she deserves a pat on the back, dealing with the flood in the cellar. Thankyou Sarah for making our stay enjoyable. We will make sure we will tell our friends

A secret gem of a place, off the A34

Food and service very good but rooms 4 and 5 shocking no heating bathroom need of tic cracked tiles sink needs replacing shower basket hanging on by one screw. To top it all no hot water at all rooms are very small was spost too stay two but only stayed one no at reception at 90clock to check out just a cleaner who didn't speak English 

Good food shame about the accommodation 

Was traveling down from Scotland to Southampton, and needed somewhere to spend the night.

In the past I have usually spent the night in the Warwick/Oxford area, but on this occasion I wanted to be a bit further south.

Most places were coming back at £100 a night for a single hotel room, but was able to find the Crown & Horns at a not to bad rate.

Conveniently located off the road to Southampton, I had no problem finding it.

Lovely rustic country pub, staff were really friendly.

Staff are really friendly, and was able to get a pint in the bar before retiring to bed.

Room was nice and basic, but met all my needs.

All in all met my needs for my trip. 

Nice country pub with good accommodation. 

Booked a "double room superior ensuite" got a small room with ensuite shower. No chair, no table just a tatty unsecured wardrobe, dresser and a tiny 15inch TV. The accommodation is run down, tatty and lacking cleanliness. Extractor fan and bedside lamp did not work. Bed soft and lumpy. Very stuffy and hot, even with windows open. Noise from beer garden and other residents. Food was OK standard deep fried pub grub.

Mis-described, do not trust the photos or website. 

We met some friends for a Sunday Roast and from outside its a cute little pub.  We arrived first and the waitress took our drinks which was fine.  Our friends (a couple) arrived and the waitress only asked my friends husband what he wanted to drink and ignored her!  She finally came back with the beer and still did not acknowledge my friend.  She had to ask for her drink with no apology!
We ordered the food - one burger without tomatoes.  It came with tomatoes! We then went on to order puddings - with the waitress forgetting there were some available
We had a different waitress each time - all young girls who didn't seem to know what was going on.  There didn't seem to anyone present making sure all was running well.  Food was ok.
It was a shame we had this experience as this really is a cute little pub.

Sunday Roast

I had a business meeting with a colleague and we decided to stop here and grab a coffee and some light bites. The food was absolutely delicious, a great choice and the flavours were splendid, so much so we decided to stay around to enjoy dinner. The atmosphere was spot on & superb service from the waitresses. I certainly recommend to all and will return with the family to enjoy a meal at the earliest opportunity.

Excellent spot!

Had a great Sunday lunch here with my daughter at the weekend. Both of us had roasts and they were delicious! Great service and would definitely recommend!  The staff were so  helpful and attentive. Really lovely to see a great pub doing well!!

Definitely going back for more!

As a party of 6, decided to try for Sunday lunch after reading reviews. 
Although it was not that busy service was shoddy. 
Placed orders and waited nearly 50 minutes to be served,  order was 2 burgers, 1 salad, 1 starter, 1 ploghmans and 1 small roast dinner. 
We had to collect own cutlery etc,
Food was brought one meal at a time by 2 different waitresses. 
Every dish except the roast arrived although we kept reminding them about the remaining orders as they kept asking was there anything else.
The roast finally as the other meals were being finished. 
Really poor standard of food and service, will not be visiting any time soon.

Sunday lunch

Very friendly and helpful staff.  High end Bosch coffee maker in my room but I needed a demonstration to learn how to make it work (it made excellent coffee for a machine)!  Breakfast is cereal they give you the evening before: there's no cooked breakfast available.  Small hotel and no one is on-site in the morning for check-out: you leave your key in the lock.  Dinner was good.  Took three attempts to get the wifi to work and you have to sign up with sky to get it (it's free but I dislike handing over an email address or setting up any kind of login).
