We had a delicious anniversary lunch and the staff who dealt us was nice. It's attractively decorated with memorabilia and flora and fauna separated into several little nooks.
Lovely place, cozy seats, vibrant atmosphere and the meal was incredible. I would say one of the best prawn cocktails I’ve ever had and the ciabatta was so yum with extra Virgil oil they served!

The Pilot Inn is a lovely pub. They serve wonderful homemade food, good portions and excellent service. A wide variety on the menu, also a daily specials menu. I go there every time I am in Eastbourne.


One of Eastbourne´s best pubs for eating in my opinion

You’ve tried the rest , now vist the best! My wife and I once a fortnight randomly go to a bb/hotel we see on this site and this is the best we been in. The rooms were wow, Bath in middle of room , bed for a king and so many extras it’s stupid. Bar , best selection of beers I’ve sen and a whole section of wines, and years old whiskies etc, and a whole section  of no alcohol spirits ! Food , well  I’ve been to some chef restaurants, but my belly pork was so good , put them all in the shade. Staff friendly, a heated garden with cabin for smokers to smoke in warmth and comfort. Didn’t want to go home.

Don’t look anywhere else

Good communication, lovely atmosphere in the pub- it was busy on a Wednesday afternoon,which surprised us.
Compact but well thought out, beer garden,enclosed and again a lovely atmosphere.
The staff were friendly and helpful  with any questions we posed.
We stayed in room 4 for three nights and it was well decorated with good facilities, although quite small.
There is a small fridge and bottled water and fresh milk supplied, a  very nice touch.
We enjoyed our breakfasts and the pub was very busy with meals,throughout the day.
It is very popular and in an excellent location for a stroll along the prom or a walk to Beachy Head.

I didn’t give 5 as our room was slightly noisy with the windows open, but too hot with them closed.
There is a fan available but I was happy to open the windows and put ear plugs in. Room 4 is above the main door,but generally,people were considerate.

Wouldn’t hesitate to book The Pilot Inn,on our next visit to Eastbourne

Great “All round” place to stay

Perfect place to stay at the end of the South Down’s Way. The rooms are clean and have a modern feel to them. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We could not fault their customer service.

We had intended to walk into Eastbourne and eat elsewhere to celebrate the end of the walk but we were glad that we changed our minds as we had a really good meal. The fish and chips and the belly pork were excellent. 

The hotel was really quiet at night too. 

We would stay there again if we returned to Eastbourne.

Perfect place to stay at the end of the South Downs Way

Wow our first time ,through a recommendation, absolutely loved the place ,very different,unique, interesting..the food was fantastic, the staff were so welcoming, helpful & attentive, that's why we left a big tip,they deserved it..definitely going to be our number one place to eat..cant wait to go back ..

Visited on a Thursday evening, two couples.
Cosy and warm atmosphere.
Good food portion sizing! 
Partner LOVED the pork bellly! We’ve been a few times recently and he will always return to this dish! 
Friendly staff, good service & a nice pub to be in in both summer and winter!

Lovely mid week meal out

Went with friends for a few drinks and light bites. Staff were so friendly and attentive, nothing could be too much trouble for them. Saw other people having main meals which looked delicious. Sat in the garden where the amount of outdoor seating and tables has increased a lot. Garden had heaters and umbrellas to cover all weather!

Fantastic service & lovely garden

We visited pub on a recomendation from our b&b hosts..so glad we listened to them..we had the best food we had eaten on our stay in eastbourne snd the pub itself is so friendly and had a homely feeling..we will be back soon

Best food

We visited for lunch on Bank Holiday Monday - the service & food was superb and we cannot recommend it highly enough. The place was spotlessly clean and staff really friendly - seems they were fully booked and now we know why !!
