The Hawes Inn is a lovely place to have lunch or dinner, nestled under the rail bridge. 
This is my first time staying overnight and was very pleasantly surprised. 
The room was pretty small, but had all the amenities you need and was clean and tidy, same for the bathroom.  The windows are old and let in the cold easily so you definitely need the radiator on at this time of year and we had a great view of the bridges from the window. 
I thought it would be noisy here but was surprisingly quiet during the night too. All in all it was a very lovely stay, the staff were great too and couldn't have been more helpful. 
My only gripe is we stayed in a twin and the beds, although the bedding itself was of excellent quality, were narrow singles and I struggled to sleep in such a small bed. Next time we'll take a room each with a double! Definitely would stay again without hesitation. 
The food here is great too!

Excellent iconic place to stay 

Fantastic overnight stay at the Hawes Inn in South Queensferry, near Edinburgh.  Staff are so friendly and welcoming right from the minute you walk through the door.  Our room was spacious, comfortable, clean and warm, but has lots of of character as you'd expect from the historical building.   Dinner and breakfast were lovely, and served with a smile.  Special mention to Kate on breakfast service who went out of her way to make sure everything was just right.  Well worth a stay there whenever you're in town.  We'll be back.

Welcoming hotel.

We stayed here for a weekend while visiting Murrayfield for the rugby. It’s an ideal location with great transport to the game readily available!

The breakfast was great and the room we chose was clean, comfy and had a great view of the bridge out the window.

We would definitely recommend staying here and plan to do so again at some point in the future.

Friendly stay in historical surroundings

We stayed here for a night whilst visiting friends, and found it to be fabulous!  We stayed in room 1 and the room was spacious and ideal for a short trip, however the water in the shower could have been a wee bit hotter. We had lunch and breakfast here and the food was delicious; home cooked, fresh and tasty! and was very good value for money . The bar's draft beers and cider were excellent. The overall hotel and the public areas were spotless and they are dog friendly offering wee treats and water bowls; a nice  touch for those with furry friends. The staff were friendly and efficient and we would definitely stay here again!  The location is perfect with spectacular views across the Forth and its magnificent bridges.

great find

I stayed overnight on business and the room was beautiful and very comfortable. Bed was great and I had a good night’s sleep. The location is stunning, right next to the iconic Forth rail bridge and views are very social media friendly! Will definitely return here again.

Stunning hotel

We love this place. Very nice and warm, friendly staff, pretty good plates. We've been there for Valentine and it was nice, even though some plates had finished. Comfortable to book online, car park in the back.

Really nice

Having eaten many times & stayed once here, we were very pleasantly surprised with the results of the desperately needed make over The Hawes has had.
A very welcoming & accommodating new team, some of whom have a bit to learn but that's OK.
Great room, which was huge! Very clean, comfortable & with a lovely view.
Highly recommend.

Lovey stay in this beautifully refurbished Inn

My wife and I booked 1 night before our holiday.

Check in
This was slightly haphazard but possibly explained by being at a relatively peak time.

Room 
The Room was clean, comfortable and a very decent size  overlooking the water 

Dinner 
Excellent food, somewhat "Fawlty Towers"  at times.  One young server for our area.. personable and friendly but could do with some support and training. The table next to us had their dessert order taken before their main!. Also this member of staff,  quite loudly,  was heard saying "put in the microwave ".

Breakfast 
0700-0930 - or so we were both told and read.  Up for an early flight we went downstairs at 0700 - only to activate the burglar alarm!. We waited for the duty manager to disable.  She also told us Breakfast would be available in 30 mins. On approaching the dining room again it was locked. We had to knock only to met with an abrupt member of staff.  Clearly let down by other staff. We received a refund for breakfast.

Summary 
OK, no better. Staff training required. 

Fawlty Towers ish

We have come here three times hoping it would improve as it’s in a nice setting. Unfortunately every time the service has been really slow, the staff seem pretty uninterested and the food is average.

Not sure why but everytime it takes a very long time to get an order in and then the food takes a long time.

Yet another lovely afternoon spent having lunch excellent food service and chat from the friendly efficient staff especially Michelle .Always welcoming especially doggie friendly too well done again  The Johnston’s & Kelly’s
