I had my stay changed from May 2020 to May 2021 due to Covid. As hotels had opened in Scotland again I wanted to check any changes so I emailed a couple of days before just to check and was told they weren’t even open. No communication at all to tell us this so thankfully we didn’t just turn up and were able to arrange alternative accommodation just around the corner. However.....trying to get a refund was a nightmare and I’m still waiting 4 weeks later. Gail ignored my requests at first therefore I went to booking.com myself am resolving through them. No fault to booking.com their staff were amazing trying to help me. Gail however called them liars and said they hadn’t tried to contact her.  I sent a perfectly reasonable email to Gail to state how dissatisfied I was with the customer service I received from her whilst still trying to obtain my refund just to be sent back a disguising email saying my email was a disgrace and not to contact her again! She said my email served no purpose but to make myself feel better! (em no I want my refund which I am entitled to) then I got the line which she seems to use for other customers too.... ‘ your message says a lot about your character’! 

Who says this to customers! I was shocked and appalled that I got this response, it’s not like I said anything offensive or out of order. I stated facts only and that I was disappointed in the service from her. I told her she needs a much needed course in customer service and left it at that and I’m resolving through booking.com now. They have the full email chain and looking into my complaint. 

Looking forward to what excuses or lies Gail responds to this!

Disgusting customer service

I spent a week with Gail and Alex at their beautiful property very close to Edinburg and near my Scottish relatives in Livingston. This is not an ordinary b and b...
It is very luxurious and the breakfast was delicious! 
Gail is so warm and friendly. Alex is very funny and we got on really well with them both. 
I was traveling with my daughter, sister n law and my 85 year old mother. 
We had terribly cold weather in Scotland and it was so nice to rest in a beautiful home with amazing beds, showers and the most perfect Scottish Breakfast I have ever had. Gail makes eggs like no one , and Alex turned me on to porridge and accommodated my American desire for great coffee and a good laugh. 
They were especially sweet to my Mum. One day she rested at their place while we had a full day touring the city. Alex offered to heat up a lunch for her , had a little chat and brought her a lovely piece of cake. They called her Mum and treated her as if she was apart of their family. I am very grateful to them for that and will stay with them every time I visit Edinburg in the future.
Thank you again Gail and Alex! If you're ever in Washington DC lets have a laugh!

This place is a treasure and Alex and Gail are lovely!

We stayed here for only one night as visiting Edinburgh university. 

Pros:

Spacious, clean and comfortable. 
Stylish furnishings In pleasant surroundings with a nice small garden that would be nice in summer. 
Nice breakfast

Cons:

If a light sleeper, the nearby train line may bother you
Whilst Gail (hostess) was lovely, warm and charming, my brief chat with Alex was rather stern and abrupt and not particularly helpful (I asked if we could stay in part of the room until 12:00 and told I should have booked two nights if I wanted that!!!). Perhaps caught him on an off-moment. 

Pleasant stay, but disappointed at the end by host Alex 

My wife and I picked this place to stay for our baby-moon and we absolutely loved it. Alex was incredibly nice and helped us with whatever we needed. Cannot recommend this place enough!!! We can’t wait to visit again!! 

Beautiful B&B in Edinburgh 

Kellerstain Stables is a very high-quality Bed and Breakfast in a most peaceful and quiet location in the middle of the countryside, close to Edinburgh Airport.  The tram stop is a pleasant 15-minute walk away, with frequent and direct connections to Princes Street in the centre of Edinburgh.  The room we stayed in was beautifully decorated and most comfortable.  The cleanliness was also of a very high standard throughout.  Alex and Gail are very pleasant and welcoming hosts.

We would definitely return here again.  This is a great place to get away from it all.

Highly recommended

This really is a fantastic Bed and Breakfast, not far from Edinburgh and close to the Park and Ride at Ingliston. The accomodation itself is stunning!! Great large rooms, spotlessly clean. The surroundings are lovely and Alex and Gail are great hosts,very helpful, we got a lift to the tram station from Alex on the Saturday morning which was much appreciated. We will definitely be back sometime soon.

Fantastic B&B near the city but in the countryside!!!

Beautiful and Super clean!  Great location with the tram and mall nearby. very accommodating host. Recommend for sure- No question about it! Take a tram into Edinburgh, don’t drive. Only 1.70 pound one way per person.

Must do!

Room was beautifully decorated and felt newly done. It was toasty warm on a very cold Scottish evening. The gardens and grounds where lovely and it was very quiet. The host was accommodating of our late check in and very helpful. 
Couldn't fault and would highly recommend.

Quality and tranquility on the airports doorstep

My wife and I from America and have visited Scotland a dozen times. We've stayed in B&B's all over the country. When we last stayed in Edinburgh we chose Kellerstain Stables. It ticked all the boxes. The location, the price and it looked beautiful.

When we arrived we were met by Gail and Alex. They were tremendously kind and helpful. The first impression of the B&B was complete excitement! It was gorgeous! It was a rural setting, yet very close to the city.

The room was immaculate. We were both impressed at the high level of design in the room. It came stocked with everything we needed and more. Beautiful views. Especially for breakfast. The Sunroom where they serve breakfast is stunning to say the least. All glass, with a lovely rural view out into beautiful pastures. With a line a few football fields away in the distance. 

Gail and Alex were so kind and helpful. And the breakfast was fantastic! A Scottish Breakfast extraordinaire. Kellerstain had so much literature to help us understand the area. It was available right near the entry way of the B&B.

We were able to get to the tram in just a matter of minutes. We were able to get to downtown Edinburgh in record time. And one extraordinary train trip too. To see all of that beautiful Scottish landscape from the tram was a distinct treat.

We also discovered one of our favorite restaurants in Scotland also. Gail and Alex suggested Fabio's. Its a Scottish/Italian family who owns it. It is filled with so much character and charm. The food was out of this world!

I think the thing we liked the best about Kellerstain was just how quiet and serene it was. Normally we would have to travel a great distance from the city to get such a charming, rural feel. But it had everything and the location was superb.

The price on our room was a splendid value. Trust me, we have been to many hotels, Motels and B&B's in all of Scotland and Kellerstain Stables was by far the best of the best. We fully intend to return to Kellerstain. It is now our home away from home. And we have already logged many wonderful memories in this little Scottish palace!

An Amazing Scottish Gem

We stayed at Kellerstain Stables for the one night and could not have wished for better accommodation.  Gail and Alex are fabulous hosts, our room was immaculate, well decorated and furnished - as was all of the hotel.  The breakfast was excellent, we highly recommend this establishment and hope to visit again.
