We had our wedding here In mid May, the lodge and cottage were spotless and ideal for our family and friends to share the weekend with us. We had a landtrain to take our guests to the beach and we were blessed with beautiful weather. Anita was on hand for all of our needs and wants from the Friday- Sunday. Unfortunately we were not able to stay for the full 3 nights offered and we were sad to leave early. We had a few guests who also camped and they were very pleased with the site.

May wedding

Attended a wedding here. I would advise all potential wedding parties not to book.
Poor service, the roof was leaking on our table and the they turned the bands power off mid way through their set which led to the bride crying. Management were very rude and unhelpful. Seems like they took the couples money for the event but couldn’t wait to get rid of everyone. 
Music stopped at 22.30. Really felt for the couple who’s wedding it was. 
They also had a weird traffic light system on the wall about noise levels which the management seemed to obsess over as oppose to looking after the guests.

Don’t book your wedding or event here

Spent 5 days at the campsite definitely not suited for motorhome or caravans pitches are very uneven the toilet blocks and showers are absolutely disgusting and wasn’t cleaned the time we were there went to complain to the warden then was cleaned but clearly doesn’t see above eye level the cowshed was nice and the lady who works there is very nice you only seamed to see her doing all the work really don’t know what the wardens do definitely wont be back

Prattshayes campsite

We arrived on Friday for a long family weekend.  

Access to the site is down a very narrow road. 

The pitch was easy to find and well marked out.  It's a lovely area and close to Exmouth. 

There was no reception and we didn't see any staff while we were there. 

Sloping Pitch:  The pitch was sloping with uneven ground so a little difficult to find a flat area to pitch.  

Noisy:  There was a female 40th party going on near us which was very noisy on the first night, and another party on the field behind that. Little did we know that was only a taster for even more noise on the next night. 

The next day we realised that the gravel track next to the site and right next to our pitch was where wedding guests parked when attending the onsite wedding venue. It felt like being in a zoo as we sat eating lunch whilst everyone in their finery paraded past, the ladies struggling with their high heels.  Later that evening whilst we were cooking over the bbq, more cars arrived presumably with guests for the evening 'do'.  No problem until bedtime when we were trying to sleep and we could hear the music from the wedding reception, the constant noise from very merry guests leaving, the slam of car doors, shouting, revving of engines and cars crunching up and down the gravel driveway.   Wouldn't have been so bad if they had all left at once but this dragged on for ages. 

Smell:  The next day, and the day after, the smell was very bad, presumably from the nearby sewage works. 

Showers:  The ladies showers were literally just a trickle.  You have to run around under it to get wet.  The water was either cold or hot. The showers are the push button type which stay on a few seconds and then go off.    My son said the mens showers were better, ie not a tricle, and weren't the push button sort, but there was only shower curtains so no privacy.  The mens toilets and showers were in a converted container. 

Toilets:  It was difficult to actually get into the cubicles because there is no space to stand as you shut the door, so you have to wedge yourself up the side of the toilet, so I don't know how larger ladies cope.  

Cleanliness:  The toilets and showers and surrounding area were not at all clean, although I did see someone sweep the floor. 

Washing Up area:  The middle 2 sinks didn't have taps which was puzzling. There were lights but they weren't switched on.  The other 2 sinks did have taps, but no plugs so a bowl is needed, but when you turned on the tap on one sink, it stopped the flow to the other sink. The water wasn't hot. 

The bar:  the facilities were shut during the wedding, we didn't bother trying the next day.  

Beach:  We liked the idea of being able to walk to the beach.  The reality - very narrow road so too dangerous to walk and we didn't risk it. 

Food:  The on site food was closed.  We took our own and one night we had an Indian takeaway which was nice. 

Although we loved the area, we didn't love the campsite, and we left a day early, and we definitely won't be returning to Prattshayes Campsite. 

Great site for those who want loud drunken parties and don't mind the facilities. Not suitable for familes.

Noisy site; sloping pitches; awful showers; smell from sewage works just up the road; dirty toilets; avoid.

We booked Monday to Friday ,with a group of 4  families and are tents were close together which was great. 
Nice to have lots of space,however on the Wednesday there was a wedding which in itself is great however the campsite was turned into a car park  ,not really safe to let are kids run round.

We has a drink in the bar,great service. 

The opening hours changed alot,information would have been good, just a simple poster positioned by the toilets so everyone new.

Pro's = Great location to the beach
               Not suitable to walk to especially with children.its a 5 minutes drive 
Plenty of parking near the beach
The cost was really reasonable to camp 
Lots of great takeaways locally we used the Chinese and domino's.

The toilets and showers weren't great not sure how often they were cleaned????

A little shop would have been good

 Now this is completely nothing to do with the site  but the sewage plant close by had a constant odour ...

Would we stay here again...not sure?

It's the location that sells it just needs a little TLC around the site and better communication,
Exmouth is beautiful will return again ...just not sure where to stay next time.

Great location but.....

We stayed here for 4 nights, the pitches were nicely marked out with rope and a little sign. It had a real eco friendly feel about it.
The shower and toilet facilities were ok, there were so many flies dead on the ceiling, you expect bugs and flies when you're camping but perhaps that could do with a wipe. 
The bar was a great addition, I think the only thing really lacking is a little shop nearby ot onsite just selling basics like milk and snacks maybe. 
We weren't around for the weekend food but it sounded lovely. 
Be prepared to hear the farmer in the mornings. We would recommend and we would stay again.

Great campsite!

I was disappointed with the pitch, as there wasn't a level square metre to pitch the tent on (however I felt lucky that ours didn't have a huge ditch running across ours like another of our group) and in addition the water point was inside our pitch. Not to mention that our party was split across the length and breadth of the site.
The showers (when available- not between 12 and 2) were small, low pressure and either freezing or scalding- as there is no way to control the temperature or pressure. At least I didn't have the misfortune to take a shower while they water the plants, as this means intermittent water supply on top of these miseries.
The campsite is noisy, with no restrictions on playing music at high volumes (at least until 11pm) and the lack of restrictions/ rules/ enforcement means that worryingly large open fires are permitted, football in between tents is acceptable, and woe betide you if you're looking for a quiet family camping trip. 
No shop available on site, but they do have a pub, so drunken behaviour is rife, and they often have groups of teens without supervision. 
Dogs are welcome, but there is no provision for them in the way of somewhere to walk them (bearing in mind that the only approach to the campsite is a single lane road with some passing areas) the owners are quoted as saying "we've never had an accident, except that one time".
On the positive side, it is only a 5 minute drive to the beach, and there are shops and takeaways in the local village 5 minutes the other direction. 
All in all I would recommend this site to any group of young people looking for somewhere to let loose, however as a family campsite it leaves much to be desired.

Not a family campsite

Bar staff did a fantastic job of serving in the Cowshed terraces. Hats off the them especially when the tv shutdown, worked well under pressure and had it back on again in no time !!! Though with the result, maybe it would have been best left off. Cmon England, our turn next year. Robin

Euro Final

Take note of what your booking! We booked this in the morning to arrive that evening. I believed I had booked a pitch suitable for either a tent or motor home and I paid my deposit. It had been raining heavily all day and when we arrived at 6pm I was told we'd booked a tent only pitch. The field was utterly waterlogged and you couldn't have got a car into the field let alone a camper. We were offered a hard standing in the entrance to the field which we declined on safety grounds. Your booking confirmation doesn't tell you which type of pitch you've booked so it's difficult to debate the booking.  We won't be visiting again. 

Make sure you know what you've booked! 

Pros
- Close to shops/amenities
- Decent size pitches Vs other sites 

Unfortunately our weekend was cut short by the below, which impacted on our stay and  severe lack of sleep... 

Cons 
- Smells of sewage 
- Dirty showers and toilets, not cleaned regularly. Worrying during these times... 
- Sloped pitches 
- They don't enforce their own rules, lots of noise until early hours of the morning from rowdy groups kept us awake.
