I booked in for a couple of nights this week with my partner, travelling to the area via trains. I had agreed to contact someone to meet me to make payment once I had arrived in Hartlepool. I called the number 30 minutes before I was going to be there as requested, but all I got was 'there's no one available to take your call right now' but I kept to my side of the deal and went to the hotel, 30 minutes of waiting in the rain and trying to call them and my phone died, I gave it another 15 minutes hoping that someone would show up after the voice mail I left, but still nothing. Luckily other hotels in the area had available rooms that night, otherwise I've no idea where I would have been staying! Definitely won't be relying on the oakroyd for a room again! 

Disappointing 

Really pleasantly surprised with this one. Have stayed in a number of Hartlepools residencies previously and haven't really felt value for money had been achieved for various reasons, but this place comes very close to reaching that. Paid £55 for a twin room.
Access is via text message instructions, a code allows access and your key is found in your room. Essentially you may not need to meet anyone during your stay. If there are no issues, then this would be ideal. However, there were a few issues which did need relating to "reception" immediately. The option to have two keys would be better for joint stays.
On entry to the room, there appeared to be no milk for the tea tray, no shower gel and most significantly, no toilet roll. I called the contact number a few times in the space of a few minutes, but the calls were going straight to voice mail. Now, I knew the hotel was quiet, so I guessed that all the rooms would be unlocked as they were either waiting for arrivals or cleaning after departures. Managed to obtain toilet rolls and shower gel from one room, and milk from another. I didn't mind having to do this but perhaps whoever services the rooms needs to take more care with these matters, especially as there's no one on site immediately available to rectify any issues.
A few other small issues were there was no toilet roll holder or towel rails/hooks. Also the velum window in the toilet needs its opener repairing.
Otherwise the room was very nice, bright and clean. Breakfast is not available but there is a large kitchen and lounge which is available to residents. Free parking is readily available on the adjacent streets.

Nearly excellent...but not quite

Stayed for 2 nights with my daughter, after an initial mix up with rooms we ended up with a double bed room each , definitely couldn't of squeezed us both in what look liked a small double... Rooms were very bright & airy, ensuite yoilet , showet & sink ... Shared kitchen which can be used by anyone staying in the hotel , 2 cookers plenty of cooking utensils , large table, tv , 2 sofas , free WiFi, parked right outside on the road...  Had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend & use again ... 

Pleasantly pleased .... 

Not quite your typical hotel but was definitely worth the price we paid for the room. On checking in you are given a number to call & somebody comes to deal with. The woman who checked us was really friendly & explained everything. The room & bathroom were totally spotless, the bed comfy albeit a little small.

It offers some really good amenities such as a massive shared kitchen/dining room area with a fridge, cooker, microwave & dishwasher along with plates, cutlery etc.

Certainly a place we would be happy to stay at again!

I stayed  there 3 nights,and I was very satisfied.

Good location, very clean and cosy, very good customer service.(Lorraine was lovely)

I highly recommend this hotel! 

The hotel has all the necessary utilities, you feel like home .
