Hay on Wye

We have visited Hay on Wye a few times now and always stayed in the centre. This time we ventured slightly further out. A whole four minute drive to be exact! It was a much better choice. Baskerville House was the luckiest find. EVERYTHING about our stay was perfect. 

I travelled with my mum, sister and aunt for her 80th birthday treat. I spoke to Stephen directly as I wanted to ensure the room would be suitable for my aunt. We had two magnificent rooms, one with a roll top bath and the other a walk-in shower. 

Baskerville house is so much more than a B&B, it is pure luxury, from the beds and luxurious down pillows and bedding  to the ground coffee in our rooms and the general surroundings. 

There is an honesty bar in the main lounge ( this is planned for a library, work in progress as I write) we sat downstairs of an evening after our dinner out playing board games in beautifully surroundings.

Now onto the food!! What can I say. Rebecca was a chef in a past life and we were treated to a breakfast of Kings. Beautiful fresh fruit, bread and amazing homemade granola plus a wide choice of cooked breakfast, all local produce.

I cannot recommend Baskerville House enough, Stephen and Rebecca were the perfect hosts, so warm and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. 

I would recommend booking directly as the price was better than on the usual hotel booking sites. We have planned our return stay for next year and cannot wait.

Pure luxury 

Any reviews pre 2019 should be ignored. Stephen & Rebecca purchesed then and renovated from a pub to a high end b&b hotel. As well as being the most welcoming of hosts, the decor is stunning. Beautiful rooms, absolutely spotlessly clean and breakfast that would be hard to beat anywhere. Would certainly revisit and most definatly recommend . Thank you Stephen & Rebecca.

An exceptional overnight stay in Baskerville House.   Very comfortable indeed, beautifully appointed room with lovely sheets.   A piping hot delicious breakfast (gold star scrambled eggs!).   Thank you.

Fabulous stay

What a find! Totally perfect location, a couple of fields away from Hay on Wye, so out of the bustle, in a beautiful village, but walkable in to have a wander around Hay On Wye. The owners of Baskerville House are so friendly, Rebecca is a fantastic hostess and an amazing cook, every breakfast was absolutely delicious with lots of tasty delights and she had no problem catering for everyone’s needs in our large party of fussy eaters!!! Stephen is a very chatty and welcoming host and nothing was too much trouble. The bedrooms were gorgeous and I have to say the beds were the most comfortable we all have experienced, we honestly didn’t want to leave. Very highly recommended, the nicest place we have stayed in for a very long time! You’ve done an amazing job Stephen and Rebecca, we will be back!

Excelled in everything you would want for a weekend away!

We had an exceptional stay at Baskerville House. It was so comfortable and expertly furnished. The beds were so comfortable, we all slept brilliantly. 
Stephen and Rebecca were excellent hosts and went out of their way to help us book dinners and pass on their fabulous knowledge of the surrounding area. 
Rebecca’s breakfasts were a huge highlight and were absolutely delicious. So much to choose from!
The honesty bar was incredibly inviting with a fabulous log burner and we spent both evenings there playing cards.

A beautiful old former inn that’s now a top class b&b, it’s family run and then hosts are extremely pleasant and engaging. We only stayed one night but if the opportunity arose again we’d definitely return.

Charming

I booked a room for a riding holiday. Loved the hospitality, the bar, the comfy bed with Egyptian cotton sheets, the proximity to Hay on Wye and the breakfast. I made the mistake of booking in another B&B before heading back to London  and instantly regretted it (horrible bed and very dated decoration).
I shall be back! Thank you for making us so welcome!!

Perfect!!!

The Baskerville House is a beautiful and wonderful place to stay, and I can't recommend it enough. The owners have gone to great lengths in the recent year to completely refurbish and renovate the hotel, and it now feels like a high end bed and breakfast while still maintaining its historical charm that appealed to me in the first place. The owners Stephen and Rebecca are both incredibly accommodating as well, always making sure our needs were met. In addition the breakfast provided was absolutely incredible, with all of the food locally sourced. If you are looking for a place to stay in the Hay-on-Wye area, there is no better place where you will get such such wonderful hospitality.

Absolutely incredible historical inn with wonderfully gracious hosts

Some friends and I stayed for two nights either side of a Freerein riding adventure. This beautiful Georgian building has been renovated impeccably; stylish, great attention to detail whilst retaining the period charm. Stephen and Rebecca are wonderful hosts who couldn't do enough for us. As well as extremely comfortable, rooms, the breakfasts are delicious and the three evening course meal Rebecca created for us was simply stunning, served to us by two of their very charming children. And all very reasonably priced. Thank you; I will certainly return.

Wonderful hospitality in a beautifully refurbished country inn

Having stayed here for 2 nights, we were extremely impressed on how much it had improved since our last visit  9yrs ago. A grand & welcoming transformation. Rebecca n Stephen were caring, helpful & wonderful, showed interest in our tales & travel plans. They make you feel comfortable, relaxed & very much welcome. AND the breakfast was delicious, tasty and well presented. 100% in every way. Keep it going & we shall be back for sure. Thanks for a perfect stay.
