An absolute horror show. Pre-booked for a Monday night check in.  As a lone female guest I arrived at 8:30pm to find it in complete darkness and closed was quite scary. Called the number on the window for the manager and she was very rude and told me they aren’t open on Mondays. With my booking in hand she then rudely directed me round to the back of the building to let myself in through a keypad entrance. There were no staff in the premises and all the lights we off. I was then told my room was on the top floor and the keys were hanging in the door.  I was totally alone in the building and quite frightened.  When I asked about the evening meal and breakfast arrangements that had been booked she barked at me that they were not included in the room price and promptly put the phone down on me.    I WOULD NOT recommend this establishment to anyone.  I’m distress I then felt I needed to find alternative accommodation where I would be safe.  

Absolute Horrow show

When I turned up at 4pm the pub was closed and there was no one there to let me into my room. I rang the number stated on a note on the window but got no reply. Luckily I came across a builder who was working there and he let me into the building and phoned the landlady. She promised someone would come with a key to my room which was on the top floor of the building in 20 minutes. The builder kindly helped me up a very steep staircase with my suitcase to my room which was like a sauna and no fan in sight. I waited 45 minutes for my key and left. I  fortunately found another hotel to stay the following night as I found the Dog & Whistle unacceptable but still endured one night there having borrowed a fan from a friend, otherwise I would have got no sleep at all. 
To be fair the landlady did not charge me for the second night. 
I think of my unhappiness and inconvenience could have been avoided by providing a fan being as it was so hot (a shop opposite was selling them) and a message sent to me before my arrival explaining they were closed on Thursdays, but my room was no x and the key was in the lock, explaining the door codes etc. That would have gone a long way. 
Needless to say, I won´t be back nor recommend it to anyone.

Very disappointing!

From the moment we got there and were greeted by the friendly staff we knew we were onto a winner. Our room was comfortable and nicely decorated with a spacious en suite bathroom. The only downside was that to get to the room you have to negotiate a staircase with a very low ceiling.

Friendly staff and great central location

Lovely room at the very top of the pub. We stayed here as near to a wedding venue. Shown to the room and side door so we could come back in without having to go through the pub. 

We are not old but didn't think the loud house music would go onto midnight. The ear plugs by the bed didn't help. Then at 4am guests came back playing loud music and shouting until 5.30am. So annoying and rude. 
As we were on the high street there were cutting panels for broken shop front on a shop front opposite at 5am. This is more external problems and might not happen on all days. We are so tired after not sleeping well!

The only fault we had with the lovely room was the extractor fan didn't really work. The shower was so hot you couldn't actually stand under it. The remote control batteries were nearly out and couldn't switch channels.  There wasn't any feedback forms to fill in so hopefully this will be passed on. 
If these things were sorted my score would be higher.

Got no sleep! Disappointing

£10.50 for a double vodka coke! It’s not exactly the Ritz! A pub on the high street charging this much. I thought it was so expensive. 4 of us. 1 round was £40! That is sky high Lindon prices. I really couldn’t believe it and was just glad that it wasn’t my round

We stayed here for the night last weekend. Room was lovely and clean, good value for money. 
We were on the top floor and the walls seemed very thin. We had one room next to us which had loud snoring throughout the night and another who woke us up by sticking the tv on loud first thing. It’s in the centre of town so it’s quite loud until about 3/4 in the morning but they do leave you ear plugs. Cheap and cheerful, close to some lovely bars but be aware it will be a bit noisy.

We thought it was a hoax at first. Then tried to phone to understand what was happening. They did not pick up the phone. Our taxi driver tried and got answered straight away (We assume that they recognised our Spanish mobile number and chose not to answer). The Reception explained to our taxi driver that they had a double booking. Some other guest wanted our room for five nights and that is why they had to cancel our one night booking. No apologies, no offer to find an alternative hotel for the night. I prepaid the room and so far I haven't even got the money back.  How are they still in business?? Unbelievable!!

Disliked  · huge gap under the door. we were told just push a pillow up against it and no others had complained about the gap. my partner spoke to the lady on the phone and she said she sent someone up to look at it and it wasn’t that bad. I went down to speak to the lady and asked if there was nothing she could fix to the door and she said she didn’t know how to fix the problem and as there were no other rooms I could either “stay or don’t stay”. I felt as though I was bothering her by raising these issues and as if I was lying by saying the gap was big. I said about a draft blowing under the door and she told me it’s very hot up there anyway and I would appreciate the cold air. my partner could fit her whole hand under the door. for £85 a night I was hoping for a better finish and staff that were a bit more welcoming

Very good entertainment on a Saturday night. Cocktails are so good! Staff are friendly and doorman are very polite, welcoming and especially the one with all the tattoos on his face! Will be making this a regular place to go.

I’ve just got here 30 minutes ago.  I’m 5 foot 3 and I have a headache from banging my head on the lowest ceiling ever. 
The staff showing me to room told me to watch my head literally as I banged it and the warning sign was too light too late. 
When I complained instantly she said “ we tell people but they don’t listen “. Ffs. I said “ it’s probably the Brain Injury they received. 
Really dangerous.
