What an excellent welcome.  We arrived with the wrong dates booked (our fault). Not a problem!  We were offered a room, greeted with wonderful hospitality.  We were then offered all the specials that were on and everything about our accommodation explained.  Room lovely.  Bed linen spotlessly clean as was the bathroom.  Enjoyed a lovely drink outside and again directed to local business for breakfast.  Lots of activity at this business.  Kirsty was a sensational host and a huge thumbs up to her.  What an asset to a business!! Thank you Kirsty!! We will be back!!!

Great place to eat drink and bed down

We popped in for dinner this evening and staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. We hadn’t booked but happy to fit us in and they were so nice and friendly. Some places don’t always make young children feel welcome but all the staff chatted to them

Really lovely and welcoming

Steve and the team hosted our wedding reception in the function room, it was amazing. The food was superb and the service provided was second to none. I would strongly recommend this pub to anyone and will certainly be back, whether it's just for a meal or a future event.

Outstanding

This place is fantastic, excellent value for money. The room was clean and very modern. We had an excellent stay. The evening meal was lovely and the breakfast was that good we were looking forward to it the night before. We have to give a shout out to the chef that served us breakfast both mornings. What a lovely guy! So polite and helpful a credit to the place. We were served by a lovely barmaid who checked us in and was so helpful. We would definitely stay there again and highly recommend the place. Thank-you for a lovely stay we really enjoyed it

Sadly not a great visit as the 2 girls seemed more interested in chatting to each other than serving the paying public, got a pint and Guinness which seemed chilled at best and when I asked for a big bottle of wine I asked if it was in the fridge she replied no sorry but I can give you bucket with ice, which I said yes, got an ice bucket with 5 cubes of ice in it, we drunk up and left, very disappointing time was had by all

I am very impressed with this hotel/pub. On entrance I was greated by the owners. They explained everything I needed to know leaving me with no questions - it really is the simple things that make the biggest impressions. My room was so clean I could not find fault. Usually I do not sleep well in another bed, but my bed was extremely comfortable I did not want to leave. Unfortunately I had to leave early so did not get the chance to eat breakfast, but if it was anything like the steak and caramelised onion baguette I had the night before, I am sure it would have been equally as delicious! 

Wonderful stay

I chose The Black Bull for our anniversary meal and what an excellent choice it turned out to be! We received a warm welcome from Tasha, my husband Sean enquired about the beer available  and once he made his choice Tasha kindly gave him a sample of the other beer to also try.
I explained that I was trying to make healthy choices but still enjoy my meal and Tasha happily made suggestions and offered healthy alternatives that fitted the plan I was following. Both starters were delicious and our steaks were beautifully cooked and full of flavour. I prefer my steak blue and was pleasantly surprised when Tasha said this would not be a problem  as other restaurants have declined this request. The meal was finished off with a dessert that Tasha had put together to again keep me on plan. Thank you to Metin for cooking a fabulous meal and to Tasha for the fantastic service and for making our anniversary extra special. The Black Bull is definitely our number one date night choice in future and we highly recommend it to anyone wanting a high quality, reasonably priced meal with that personal touch! Keep up the good work Tasha & Metin!

Wedding anniversary meal

I went along to a karaoke night here. It was nice to find a pub that did karaoke on a Saturday night but the gaps between each song were very long with up to two records being played between each singer. This meant that despite the evening going on until 1 am, most singers only got to sing 3 or 4 times. The DJ also didn't have one of the songs I requested and wouldn't download it (something many DJ's will do). Added to this the fact the drinks were quite a bit more expensive than other pubs and it all seemed a bit of a let down.

Not the best Karaoke

What a brilliant night this was on Saturday night, 5th October 2019, people singing and dancing all night, with a great mixture of music, the place was rocking from 9pm till close, everyone having a great time, I did notice that someone gave it a bad review, well you can't please everyone, maybe they were unhappy because they were not the star of the show that night, (know what I mean) 

Karaoke Night

This was a Father's Day lunch, well supposed to be, Sunday just gone. The worst "lunch" I have ever experienced, or looked at. We should have noticed the warning signs, we were a table of three and only two other tables in a place that can cover 70 people. Service was painfully slow, when our meals did arrive, well words defy my comments on what a Sunday roast should look like, not helped by the fact when my Father started his main course, the roast beef (better known as very tough shoe leather) he started to choke severely whilst the staff just look on and did f'all to help. It was just a good job I knew how to do a Heimlich maneuver. Needless to say, we left shortly afterwards having not eaten, yet still got charged for the ridiculous experience. We left three full plates on the table, and three relatively untouched drinks also and the staff couldn't give a fig's anything. 

SERIOUSLY avoid this place. It is under it's third "new" owners and they should be barred from anything to do with catering for the public. 3 years ago they served top quality food with great service, but the current owners ought not be anywhere near a public restaurant. Oh, and a Master class of staff training would go a long shot for the current poor souls who work there. Just avoid the place, you'll be grateful you did.
