Male showers lukewarm at best. 1st cubicle (of only 4) doesn't drain away so standing water in tray. Rooms passable. Short walk into Keswick. Everything in hostel very tired. No sign of any staff over full weekend. Drawers for clothes under bed filthy. Make sure your stuff is in bag!

Showers disgusting!

I stayed as a solo female traveller and felt quite safe. Although I didn’t end up cooking anything as I was staying for one night, the kitchens were very clean and well equipped so I can imagine would be good for groups as the dining area was also quite large. Free parking is also a plus. Keswick is only a 5-10 min walk which was handy.

Good location and clean hostel

I stayed here as a solo traveller and loved it! The staff Megan was amazing,  nothing was to much trouble also, she worked hard cleaning all the time making sure the facilities where spotless. It's literally just down the road from Keswick Town, a nice walk 10-15 mins. The dining room as large and spacious so your  ot on top of each other, a small kitchen with a microwave, a little oven, a freezer, it'd got everything you need however,someone did moan? They should of booked a hotel or travel lodge not a hostel? For £30 a night,  with great service from Megan, clean bathroom & toilets I don't know what people expect? I enjoyed it that much I stayed another week.

Great place 

We love Denton House. We stayed in our van as we had friends staying in the hostel and it was great. Always clean, close to Keswick. 

The van cost has gone up and although I think £25 a night is reasonable I think you should be able to book a slot for that.

Does what it says in the tin

Stayed here for 3 nights in Blencathra. It’s still low season, so the place was running a skeletal staff. So skeletal in fact that I only saw one staff member during check-in. The Blencathra room was upstairs via some steep steps. Definitely not recommended for someone with mobility problems. The ground floor has many more rooms than upstairs, so do ask for those if you don’t want to climb stairs. 

The bunk beds were clean and comfortable, the room smelt fresh, especially as there was a window which was kept open during the day. The bathroom was separate, basic, but clean. The shower didn’t have much power, but was adequate for 3 days. There’s two lockers in the room which were more than large enough for a large backpack or even two medium sized ones.

As it was low season, I didn’t see many other guests. The hostel is large, cavernous even. Sometimes when I wandered around the hostel, it felt like I was wandering around the Overlook Hotel from The Shining. 

The breakfast situation is a bit chaotic. No staff to order the breakfast. So I considered using the honesty box to pay for breakfast. First I double checked there was milk, which I found in the fridge and was two days out of date. So we ended up getting breakfast in town. Yeah, skeletal staff.

Location wise, the place is just outside the centre of the town, but easy 10 minute walk. There’s also a large parking area with space for maybe 10 cars.

Overall, I had a good stay. The hostel is clean and comfortable and good value for money, especially what I paid for in low season.

Bunk rooms / dormitories tatty but clean.
Showers don't drain away waste water and sporadic hot water with very little pressure.

I've never been in a shared hostel like this before so it was a bit of a new experience for me but I loved they way we practically owned the place. Like everything we need is there and it's just really chilled out and you can even cook your own meals there and stuff. 

Unfortunately though your not allowed in the good kitchen with all the good equipment but the small kitchen is fine to fair. The problem is just that the pans are too small. 

Friendly atmosphere and did us well for our 4 night stay. Just cross your fingers you don't get put in a room with someone who comes in drunk every night and keeps you awake until 2 o clock in the morning. Aka, me. hahaha lol i love spoonsssss

Ay. I loved it.

Great to see hostels still open and managing themselves as best they can during this pandemic. There was 2 of us and another guest in a 14 bed dorm so they are losing money with not being able to sell all beds, so please support these hostels as best you can instead of supporting the travelodges of this world. 
Clean toilets, and showers although showers were pretty weak. Drying room failed to dry boots. Friendly helpful staff, but their hours are 10-5 so best ask for advice the day before but being out all day in the Lakes you seem to miss them.

Good hostel with all the standard amenities

We were a group of 7 and we rented an 8 bed room.

Denton house is central for The Lake District and is very close to the centre of Keswick for easy access to the restaurants, pubs and cafes.

The facilities provided by Denton House are excellent. The room was clean and perfect for our needs, plenty of showers, kitchens and a large dining room and TV lounge. The staff are very welcoming and extremely helpful.
would highly recommend.

Perfect base for a group to explore The Lake District

good budget accommodation within reasonable walking distance of Keswick, free parking, clean rooms and friendly staff. All spoilt by drunken group of 7 females out to spoil if for everyone else - why do people who have no interest in walking/outdoors and intent on getting drunk go to Keswick??? they kept us awake most of the night and we were frightened to leave our rooms to ring and complain. having stayed in hostels for over 40 years is this what hostel accommodation has now become? the risk of sharing with groups who seek cheap accommodation for a drunken weekend?
