I've reviewed The Falcondale many times over the last twenty years of staying here, but let's be frank, it's an old building in need of investment. However, it's also endowed with great character, wonderful tranquillity and amazing cuisine. It is a fantastic place to come and unwind or just recharge your batteries. 

We had room 18, which we've stayed in before. It's big, warm, quiet, peaceful and although it looks out the back of the hotel, it's still a pleasant view. 

The best bits though are the staff and the food. Let's also be frank; I adore the food here. Dinner has been consistently excellent for nigh on 20 years of our custom. I know Michelin star restaurants who haven't deliver the same in just a few years. It doesn't matter if it's breakfast, lunch, a sandwich, afternoon tea or dinner, it's all excellent. We dine at one, two and three star restaurants regularly and I know what constitutes this level of dining. 

Thank you once again for a wonderful stay and we'll be back very soon.

What a lovely way to celebrate my birthday. A lunch at The Falcondale Hotel!
We booked a table for my family which included my two young grandsons. 
Fantastic food and service. 
The staff were very attentive and helped us keep our little ones happy. 
The surroundings are beautiful. The venue is very special. 
The food is of a high standard and served beautifully.

A happy family time

Attended the Falcondale for a family wedding anniversary. The Hotel is located in a beautiful rural location accessed via a long sweeping driveway. The hotel retains its Victorian charm and is immaculately presented.  The staff were very welcoming and the food was excellent, fresh and very tasty. Quite honestly, I couldn’t fault the venue, service and food, first class.

We had a wedding buffet and I have to say that the service received was excellent. The staff did everything possible to ensure that our catering needs were met and nothing was too much trouble for them. They covered every food option we wanted which included halal, vegetarian, gluten free and vegan options. 
The atmosphere of the hotel was relaxed and welcoming with lovely surroundings gardens. There was also plenty of parking available for guests which included disabled parking.

Excellent Service

Great hotel, fantastic staff throughout, food was very good and the service could not be faulted. The hotel could do with some money spending on it as some areas were a bit tatty. Food was responsibly priced, but the drinks were very expensive. Great place to stay to visit the local area.

Few days in wales.

Myself and my wife had a great experience when we attended the Falcondale hotel for afternoon tea. The food was delicious and served in the conservatory giving a nice view over a terraced lawn. The staff were attentive and polite and overall this was a very enjoyable afternoon.  

Lovely Cream tea

This hotel was a fantastic place to stay. Yes, it wasn’t cheap, but it was worth every penny. We stayed in the Valley suite and had a wonderful time. The food was beautiful and the staff were amazing.
The hotel itself is a very relaxing place in the countryside, with plenty of parking, great views and fantastic walks directly from the hotel.
Lampeter itself is less than a mile away, and the coast only a few miles by car.
We will definitely be back to visit again.

A fantastic, relaxing place to stay

Beautiful setting, comfortable, clean room. Calm ambience in dining and lounge rooms.
Staff friendly and most helpful.
Initially booked an afternoon tea, ended up staying for two nights!!
Had  Sunday lunch. All meals were excellent. 

Relaxing escape

We had a lovely night away at the hotel.  The location was stunning- we had beautiful views of the valley from our room . The room itself was very comfortable  and  welcoming . 
The food too was very good .. I would say though that we had the prawn and garlic  stater which was tasty but for £10 the portion was far too small ( 4 medium sized prawns and a small amount of sauce ) compared to our friends starters . They had duck salad and a pork dish which were much better value for money . 
We would definitely visit again ! 



So relaxing!

Our home away from home when we visit family in Wales. We're very familiar with the hotel and adore the cuisine, which has been consistently excellent for the many years we've been coming; 20ish now I think.

We stayed for three nights after a family wedding at Lake Vyrnwy on Sunday and finally arrived via the back entrance to the hotel. Never done that before and it's pretty tight, but does save going into Lampeter and out again if you're coming in on the A482 from Aberaeron.

There are quite a few familiar faces amongst the staff and the welcome is always good with everyone being extremely helpful. The front desk buzzer didn't always get anyone's attention though.

We were given room 12, a Valley View room with great views from the front of the building, which was also extremely quiet and peaceful. The sleep we seem to get here is so good, nothing disturbs us.

I did read a recent review (1/5) moaning about everything. I can see why you might walk into an old building and start finding fault, but the hotel does not smell damp or musty and we've stayed here in the winter! It's also a building full of character, meaning you have to forgive some of its age related issues (even the perfectly functional lift) which are more than made up for by location, tranquillity and the food. 

Having said that, some simple issues in our room ought to be checked and fixed. The bedside lights would fall apart if you touched them, the bulbs in the bathroom aren't bright enough and with LED technology, there really isn't an excuse these days. The bathroom fan wasn't working and the bath mat was lethal and needs a rethink. Simple stuff needs attention and would enhance the stay greatly.

We very much enjoyed our stay, yet again, and simply wouldn't go anywhere else.
