Came to stay at the Ashton as we had a brewery trip booked nearby. Due to the Covid 19 situation that was cancelled but as my daughter said I might as well be miserable in Lancaster as at home so we still came away. The Ashton is superb. Our room was lovely and the water pressure from the monsoon shower excellent. Unfortunately as we were unpacking Boris announced all restaurants etc must shut. We rushed out and managed to get an excellent last supper at the Spaghetti House.
We had a great nights sleep - comfy bed - and one of the best breakfasts I have ever had in any hotel.Due to the unusual circumstances we then cut out break short and came home.

Last break for a while

Very nice B & B with an excellent host. Facilities are good and the room was of a high standard. Breakfast was probably the best I’ve ever experienced in a B & B. Good VFM and we would definitely return. 

Lovely 

This place is absolutely beautiful. My wife and I stayed here on Saturday night in December and to be honest we were blown away by the place. Immaculately decorated in a very stylish and contemporary way yet still feeling very cosy and homely. We were greeted on arrival with hot homemade mince pies and mulled wine which was delicious. The room was big but not too big with the added bonus of a duel shower. The bed was very comfortable and very warm and cosy. The breakfast in the morning was also incredible. Could not recommend this place enough.

A fabulous B&B, setting the standard for the most comfortable accommodation, the warmest of welcomes from our host James Gray, all set in an immaculately maintained period house, 5 minutes from the centre of Lancaster. 
This really was a “jewel in the crown” moment in finding such a lovely place to stay for our family of three plus two very welcome mini schnauzers. We were visiting our son at Lancaster University which is also a stone’s throw from this property…it proved an ideal location, not only for the Uni and town but also for the open Lancaster countryside and lovely walks along the river Lune, a few minutes from the front door. James is very knowledgeable about the area and was always on hand to advise on whatever takes your fancy.
He has an eye for detail and it shows. We had the top floor bedroom, very spacious, an enormous ultra-comfortable bed, tea, coffee, mini fridge, in fact everything you would want. The bathroom too, beautifully appointed with REN products and loads of the softest of towels and bathrobes. You won’t need slippers as the bathroom has underfloor heating.
Breakfast is a delight! I can’t resist a full English, but between us all over three days we sampled a variety of offerings, each freshly prepared and beautifully presented. You can also help yourself to a breakfast of fresh fruits, croissants, jams cereals etc. as a precursor to what is being prepared for you in the kitchen.
During the day an honesty bar, crisps, nuts and so forth as well as a well-stocked fridge is always available.
From the minute you drive in, an immaculate garden fronts the house, you can see you’ve chosen a great place to stay. It has a warm cosy feel about it, with the owner James at the helm, I would view this a 5* in every aspect. Okay, there’s no golf course or spa, but as a base for a visit to a lovely town and some spectacular countryside it’s perfect. 
If you fancy a stay away from that corporate market or chain of properties, however good, try The Ashton. You won’t be disappointed. Finally, a big thank you to James for making our stay so comfortable. Looking forward to our next visit!

First Class, Welcoming

Having found such a wonderful B&B and having such a wonderful stay I am conflicted about writing a positive review- as I want to keep this amazing place a secret just for me and my husband to enjoy! From arriving and initially meeting James it was clear that nothing was too much trouble and that The Ashton is designed to be a home from home. The beautiful sitting rooms with relaxing music and comfortable seating areas were only surpassed by our beautiful room- with a double shower! The attention to detail, every extra touch to make sure that you were completely happy, combined with perfect cleanliness in every area of the building and genuine warmth from James made this a perfect stay. ( my husband asked to add that the full English breakfast was perfect too!). What a wonderful gem of a place- we will most certainly be returning- regularly I hope!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful hotel. It feels luxurious and is tastefully furnished, with the bonus of a double shower in our ensuite bathroom. The breakfast was amazing and we felt very well looked after.

Beautiful and luxurious

Stayed here yesterday for a wedding nearby. Beautiful hotel and lovely setting. The owner James was very welcoming even when we turned up early. Our room was great with hair dryer and dressing gowns and the breakfast choice was amazing and cooked perfectly. Definitely recommend this hotel

Beautiful Hotel

Knew Jamie some time ago when he was still in the film business as we were at that time. My family booked us into the Ashton as a surprise overnight and we were more than delighted with the reception, style, class and quality of the Ashton on our arrival. But no surprise because that epitomised Jamie and the way he upheld his professionalism and presentation as he had done as a very good Production Buyer within "the Business". This is by no means a biased comment because we had only known Jamie as a very competent and knowledgeable production buyer within the Film and T.V. industry. To arrive as guests at his new venture (at that time) was no surprise as yet again Jamie proved himself to be a class act. The hospitality was as always true to his character, warm and genuine. The Ashton was amazing considering the challenge he initially took on. Beautifully presented and so well appointed. Every detail regarding quality, comfort, ambience was afforded to each individual guest. The food was perfect, nothing but the best and all individual tastes and requirements were catered for with ease and satisfaction. Nothing was too much trouble at the Ashton whatever requests were made.  Whatever direction Jamie takes after the Ashton we wish him well and know he will be a hard act to follow if ever he decides to move on. All the best Jamie from Pat and Les at Prop Farm, Elmton. We were so pleased that we increased our stay to a two night stay!
James was so welcoming and attentive which gave a great start to the trip. He upgraded our room as soon as we checked in because the lager room was available. 

Everything is so well thought out, from the honesty bar to the breakfast menu. 
This place is a 20 minute walk (which gave us chance to walk off the homemade cake that was on offer) from the centre of the city and James was on hand to give us some useful information to make the most of our stay. 
The place exudes style and luxury.
The only problem was that we couldn't stay longer!

Superb

We chose the Ashton as a stop off, which was our only mistake, as we only booked one night. We were on our way to the Lakes from London, but we should have added Lancaster to our itinerary and then we could have done some sightseeing and enjoyed another night here. The welcome is warm, the house and room we stayed in are gorgeous, as is the garden. We had booked a platter supper and we ate in the garden as it was such a lovely evening. We had a lovely glass of wine and a gin and tonic when we arrived and a lovely carrot cake. Breakfast was super, the muesli is indeed the best I’ve tasted. All I can say is find a reason to go to Lancaster and stay here, especially if you like gorgeous places.
