For £50 it was comfortable enough. Couldn't open the window to cool the room (no aircon), as there was a 5 a side football pitch outside and they played till 10pm. I was hoping to be asleep by 10, due to an early start. Otherwise it was ok. Didn't eat there  so cannot comment on the scran. Bathroom was clean and worked as expected. Could of done with a fridge for me packed lunch to go into and more brew kit. The bed would benefit from extra pillows. Luckily i was on my own and made do with the 2 on there.

Comfortable enough.

I am aware they are building a new hotel further up the lake, therefore this hotel is very run down and in a poor condition during the transition period. For the state of the buildings and rooms, I would have expected a much cheaper rate or some prior warning about the condition of this current hotel.

Great location, shocking buildings

Stayed for a night last week - as we do every couple of years whilst driving back South from a Northern City visit. Love the place - room with nice balcony overlooking the beautiful lake, complete change from a city view!
Yes, it is a bit dated, but the staff are very pleasant and helpful, the on-site Greene King restaurant serves good beer and food - and there is an ouside sitting area there for when the weather is good (as it was).
I read the review about Room 14 from Trish S last month - we occupied that room on this visit, the carpet under the bed had been well vacuumed, cobwebs were now non-existent, but there was still evidence that the radiator had leaked.
Parking was quite dear at £10 for the night - but that is a Milton Keynes charge to park on their land.
We will be sorry to see Premier Inn move to their new building, which overlooks the North lake - but there may be someone who carries on with a hotel in the existing position.

Very pleasant stay for a night

Arrived late evening to a very friendly lady Pauline. She was so lovely. Even offered us complimentary parking (we are staff of whitbread) saved us £10 as we thought it's very expensive otherwise. The rooms was perfectly clean just very old, still used a key for the door.  We could hear the people next door like they were in the same room. The geese from the lake outside woke us at 6am. The power shower was more drips than power. Also no plug sockets in the room. We had a baloney overlooking the lake which was a lovely view to wake up to in the morning. No food offering either.  We checked out with Heather who was also very friendly. 

Very old hotel but great staff 

After needing a bed for the night, I stopped here at short notice. I frequently stay at premier inn hotels throughout the country, but unfortunately this one is not up to par.

The bath/shower in particular, even with the temperature tap wound fully, the water temp was luke warm at best, with as much water pressure as a dripping tap.

All I needed was a bed for the night and a hot shower, and unfortunately, this wasn't achieved.

Definitely won't be staying at this particular hotel again.


Not usual Premier Inn standard

This hotel is closing in June, but they are opening a new one further around Willen Lake. We stayed in room 14, which has a balcony and overlooks the lake. On getting out of bed in the morning I dropped my phone, whilst picking it up it was very noticeable that the carpet under the bed had not been hoovered for a long time. There were also a lot of cobwebs at the corners of the ceiling. The radiator had obviously been leaking, and still was leaking, judging by the ammount of rust. I suspect if I had had need of turning the radiator on it would have dripped more!!. The television was not firmly fixed to the desk, it wobbled quite a bit.  I wonder whether repairs etc have not been done because of them closing in June 2022. Apart from the above problems, the hotel is in an ideal situation, especially if you like to go for a walk alongside the lake and see all the wildlife.

Not a good review!

Booked my stay with Heather for my anniversary and she went out of her way to make sure it was a very special experience for me and my boyfriend. She was so helpful and amazing. It was such a lovely stay we were so happy here and the view was so amazing waking up to the lake with swans and ducks.

Amazing experience

On arrival the staff member was short with me giving me a room in another block but not telling me where it was.
The room given had torn linen, a basin that would not empty, the bath taps did not provide water so no wash or shower was possible, no breakfast available.
Worst Premier Inn I have stayed in and there have be many over the last 30years.
Wouldn’t stay again.

We stayed on New Years Eve due to the proximity to Gullivers as we’d booked to go to their New Years Sparkle event which was cancelled the week before due to rising Covid cases. It was a huge blow as our son turned 7 on New Years Day so we wanted to do something special to celebrate together as a family. 
Despite this, we decided to stay at the Premier Inn we’d book regardless to enjoy a night away.

Firstly notices alert you when you arrive to inform you that the new Premier Inn Willen Lake is opening in Spring/Summer 2022. This is a disclaimer for the buildings/rooms being a bit tired. 

We were lucky enough to have a family room overlooking Willen Lake which was amazing to watch the NYE fireworks and to awake up to. The location is close to the centre but you would need to drive to get into town. There is a Greene King pub downstairs - we didn’t eat there. 

Parking is £10 per 24 hours, the next step down is 8 hours which was not long enough for us. 

The reception staff were really welcoming - we were given extra pillows and towels when we asked. The room was clean despite being dated. Not sure if it was because it was NYE but it was rather noisy at nighttime with people in surrounding rooms and the corridor.

At £34 per night on New Years Eve, we couldn’t complain! We’d definitely stay again/ try the new build Premier Inn Willen Lake next time.

NYE stay in a family room with a balcony and a lake view

Stayed here before the winter half marathon. It’s right next to the start so perfect, and the nice lady on reception (Pauline) was flexible allowing us a slightly later checkout so we could shower after the run before our trip home. My wife also left here engagement ring and earrings in the room, on our way back Pauline phoned to say they had found them which was a great relief.
