First impressions are important. The exterior of the hotel is dilapidated and run down and completely off putting. Once inside, the interior was much better. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. Pillows, however, were far too hard. Breakfast was only from 7 to 9 which is nowhere near long enough. Service at breakfast was appalling, taking more than 20 minutes to produce 2 plates of bacon and egg. Bar and lounge only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Sadly, would not recommend this establishment.

Poor value for money.

I would not call this a hotel. I stayed here four years ago and it was absolutely beautiful. Went back for a funeral booked two rooms both rooms in very poor condition. No food no drink no bar no restaurant just breakfast had to check out the room was smelly The furniture has not been cleaned in years. The shower door was broken, no receptionist and on checkout, give our keys to the girl serving breakfast and said that we were checking out her response blank she didn’t ask us why we were checking out early. Very disappointing. The only reason I give it one star was the breakfast was edible?

Difficult to gain access, as reception is not fully manned. Many aspects are quite dated. The bathroom was a big let down, quite a few repairs needed throughout. Breakfast was not as expected. Mouldy bread was served. Not somewhere I would stay in a hurry.

The hotel is in a great location, close to the station and the east of the town centre. 

The staff are friendly, the room was  spotless, the bed very comfortable and our two night stay was great value.

Worth considering if you are visiting    the area.

Good value comfortable stay

The facade of the building is dirty and it looks abandoned. We and the room reserved and once we unpacked the suitcases, at the dining room we see that the drain does not drain and floods the shower. The notified receptionist assigns us a new room on another floor. The larger and more comfortable room. After the transfer of luggage and the shower, we will dine elsewhere, because the hotel restaurant is closed. On the return we discover the bed and the sheets were used by one person and not washed.

This hotel should be closed, not worthy of being on any booking platform.

The title says it all really. They couldn't care about their appearance so they don't care about their customers. From the heady heights of La Mancha this has now descended into a farce of a restaurant. Tired, lazy, disinterested!

What used to be such a nice place to visit in Neath is now just an embarrassment.

Once quite smart, I suspect, this is running down.

I wanted to like it, as part of a return to the town of my birth. Service was always friendly and the physical infrastructure looks quite smart but it seems as though circumstances have forced it to be penny pinching.

I suspect when first fitted out it was a genuine four star hotel, but things like: a really poor breakfast buffet and incredibly long waits for hot food; bath towels but no hand towel in the room; many items on the bar menu available; faded sign outside with a letter missing - this is a sub-Travelodge offer in a building that could do much more.

Positioned as a budget hotel it might surprise expectations, as a four star hotel it can only disappoint. Which is a shame because the staff were lovely. 

Disappointing. Consider carefully! 

Very clean hotel, comfortable beds, very spacious rooms which have been fitted to a very high standard but a few mistakes have been made.  Such as MDF bath panels which are blown and unsightly, surfaces which are not resistant to hot cups.  If going at the end of the week ask for a room at the back because there is a night club opposite which spills out onto the road with music, drunken shouting going on until long past 2.00 am.  Convenient location for shops and station though.

We stayed here for three nights whilst in Wales for a funeral. We were a bit worried when we arrived - the building next door is semi-derelict. However we received a warm welcome and we had a very large room with a comfortable bed. Room was scrupulously clean and hospitality tray refilled every day. There was a bit of noise at the back from trains, but we soon tuned that out. Some parking available. Breakfast included, not a massive amount of choice and the sausage was poor value - but I honestly don't know how they do it for the price. If we were in Neath again we would stay here again.

Fantastic value

The hotel looks very tired on the outside and as a woman travelling alone it could look intimidating from the outside but the warm welcome made up for it . I checked I. And went straight up to my executive double . I’m still trying to work out why it was executive?? I did e mail ahead to say I wouldn’t be arriving until the evening , I was going to a funeral the next day , and I asked for a room at the back as I had read the rooms at the front could be noisy with the road . The room was nice and big and clean . There was ample wardrobe space and a kettle with tea and coffee. I had to rinse the kettle out as it was half full of water with black bits in it . The bed was very comfortable and the curtains were hood blackouts . There was a bath with a shower which was ok . The water pressure oils have been better . The bathroom was very tired and could have done with a complete makeover . 
I slept very well and went down for breakfast to be greeted by a young man in his coat , I didn’t realise he worked there initially but he was obviously cold . He asked me if I wanted cooked breakfast and I said yes he then went into the kitchen . He t
Said to help myself to tea , coffee , juice . I then asked if I had a choice of breakfast and he said no just full English . I then told him I was a vegetarian so he ran into the kitchen to tell the chef . I was the only one in the restaurant!!’ Eventually I got my breakfast which was very nice .
