Delightful village pub, friendly staff, lovely food and extremely welcoming. We went at the weekend for dinner and drinks, the menu is great and all of our food was excellent. We will definitely go again and would highly recommend this pub and it’s food - it’s also dog friendly and has an outdoor play area for families x

Delightful country pub 

We could not fault the food from the new chef tonight and he was so lovely! He also does the best cookies we’ve ever had!! 
Ps, thank you for bringing a treat out for our dog, he very much appreciated it! 

Lovely new chef 

Visited here today with my family who were visiting from Scotland.Had an amazing meal from starter through to sweet Waitress was fantastic ...couldnt do enough to help,even down to getting me a takeaway for  my partner to take home.Place was very clean and very friendly.Its ages since Ive been but it wont be long till Im back .Oh and our meal was all half  price making it even better .Thank you Square n Compass.Only one complaint and nothin g to do with the place ..but the man in  the red pick up truck in the car park ...would have been better using the toilet inside as opposed to piddling in the sand at the side of the car park ..No need for thaT.Mucky devil  lol

Lovely  place.

Lovely staff and lovely pub. Dog loves to visit too and gets spoilt by bar staff. Nice beer garden and play area for the kids. Tasty food and good selection. Generally just a nice place to relax with a wine or three

Fab pub

Used the opportunity that the Square and Compass offered as a Britstop. Parked in the field, very flat, and booked in for a meal on the warmest evening of the year. The bar and restaurant had a very traditional country English pub feel, homely, great range of drinks and busy for a Tuesday. The food and service was good and all in all it felt like being abroad, relaxed, easy going, pleasant surrounding. The motorhome experience could not have been more different, sat out chilling till late and then awoken by the year’s most noisiest thunder storm! Will return.

The not so goods:
The food was only warm, not hot 
The chocolate brownie was delicious (&huge) but we asked for custard & only got a tiny drop
Overall, if this was our village pub, we would be very happy. Give it a try

Lovely pub

We had a lovely stay at the Square & Compass this weekend. We enjoyed a delightful meal, so grateful to eat from such an imaginative menu, beautifully prepared and service was amazing. We would not hesitate in popping back to eat at another chance we have. Historical pub, lovely atmosphere, and a welcome change to the usual pub chains. Our stay was in an adjacent room to the pub, very handy but quiet and cosy too. Had an excellent nights sleep, very clean and tidy, and at a good price, too. We felt very welcomed and can't praise the hospitality enough. Hope we can book in again soon.

Enjoyable stay, found a gem

Been a few times for a meal, either just as a couple or once there was 8 of us, each time the food is excellent and a lovely friendly atmosphere.  Service is always good and everywhere spotlessly clean

My husband & I stayed overnight at The square & compass as a central point to meet up with family. We arrived at night & was greeted by Pauline who gave us a friendly welcome & showed us to our room which was one of 3 single storey rooms within the building situated at the side of the pub.
Our room was clean, very comfortable & quiet.
We enjoyed a drink in the pub that night which had a lovely , homely atmosphere.
Croissants & tea & coffee were provided.
We had a few hours the next day whilst waiting for our daughter. We didn’t know the area at all so were grateful of Charlottes advise & directions to Lincoln which was a 20 minute drive away & well worth visiting. We enjoyed a lovely home cooked meal at the square & compass as well, which we highly recommend.
The staff at the square & compass were all extremely helpful & friendly as were the regular customers also. It had a lovely friendly community feel about it & we would especially like to thank Pauline & Charlotte for their kindness & hospitality. And of course the chef for delicious food.
We would recommend this lovely country pub & accommodation & would be happy to return should we be visiting this area again.
