Great stay, very friendly interaction with owners. Pods comfortable,  good amenities,  a bit ropey roads on the way up but survived. Pods are advertised for 4 but better suited to 3 people.  Made good use of picnic table and fire pit. All amenities close by.

Wet Summer 

We booked here on a whim, really short notice and having never been glamping before I didn't know what to expect but I was really impressed. 
The facilities were brilliant, the pod was much bigger than expected and the communal kitchen had everything you could need. My kids loved the space, running around, playing ball. We had a great time and are looking at booking to come back next summer and do some water sports. 
The views were outstanding - really enjoyable night away.

Lovely place to stay!

Maybe it’s me but I expected glamping to include a tiny bit of ease over normal camping and I expected an adventure centre to have thing to do and see. This is more “stay in a pod on a hill”. The car has to be parked at the bottom of the hill and then you have to carry whatever you brought with you up the hill to the pod.  We made about 15 journeys and by that time all the good of not having the tent was gone out of it. We would have parked on a pitch in a normal campsite and had our tent up in half the time. The pod has a bed which is converted into a table when you get there. We had one adult and two kids so we needed it to be a bed. Not a table (there’s a picnic table outside anyway). It took 20 mins and we nearly lost a few fingers. It’s mega heavy. Think 4 or 5 stone and you have to lift it awkwardly. Then the bed was assembled. But unless you pay extra you don’t get sheets so it just a big cushion upon which you put your sleeping bag. At £75 a night for 1 adult and two kids I’d have stayed in b and b for less and not had to pay extra for sheets or make my own breakfast! We decided to make dinner and headed down to the hostel/reception building. We were immediately told to leave. Campers aren’t allowed in (another couple weren’t allowed in to use the washing machine to wash a soiled sheet. The receptionist took the sheet and said they’d wash it).  We were direct towards a guy (also up the hill - so pack v light food). Now again it might be just me because the other camper said she hadn’t expected a kitchen at all and so she was happy with the facilities. I wasn’t. I’ve camped in a one star campsite in Italy. This was about the same.  The hut is like something from “little house on the prairie” made out of logs but even in “little house” they had filled in the holes between the logs. Not here. The other lady’s kids kept putting their hands through the walls while I cooked!! (Note there was only one other family there - the place was deserted - even the hostel was empty locked and lights off on one night and we were the only people stupid enough to sleep in a pod on the side of a hill with no gates or security or anything). And the kitchen hut was just placed on gravel (note all the paths are gravel so our wheely pulley bags and cooler got bogged down going uphill - you must carry them!). No concrete floor in the kitchen so when you open the cupboards there are no shelves or anything - you are just looking at  the gravel ground with some litter on it. I closed the cupboard door pronto and guessed that vermin would have no difficulty accessing anything brought in the kitchen. Hence all the plates etc are under plastic covers. We brought our own. The hot tap ( a heater tap thingy) didn’t work so we had to boil water to wash up. We ate at another picnic table just outside the kitchen hut which was nice. The kettle worked, the gas hob was good, the fridge was good but small if the place was full. The bins weren’t emptied for the three days we were there. Not in the kitchen, lounge cabin or the toilets. So vermin might be attracted. There is a lovely hobbit style cabin (looked octagonal) which campers can use as a lounge. It’s full with three tables and wooden bench around the edge. That was v nice. We spent a lot of time there. The toilet and shower are in a hut too. Just one between all the girls and one for the boys. But it was v v clean. The shower handle thing was broken but it was good hot water and I found it was good. And that’s it. There are no activities at east coast adventure centre. I saw a zip line but I was never given a leaflet of activities or anything and no one went near it so I don’t know if it’s in use. So nothing for kids to do that didn’t involve a car ride. The East Coast Adventure Centre do run lots of activities in Watrenpoint (15 min drive) and I saw their cycling depot in Rostrevor (5min drive) and I heard only good things about these activities but we didn’t partake as my kids are too small. The other family lit a bbq beside their pod in a bbq barrel with logs and it all looked lovely. They were v happy with the place. But the fire burned late into the night 15 ft from my pod. I noticed the roof of my pod looked like felt. There are no fire alarms and I saw no fire extinguishers. The pods have no ventilation whatsoever. The other ppl slept with their door open. I slept well and the foam mattresses/cushions are comfy. I’m glad I went to try out that while glamping sleeping in a pod thing but I won’t do that again.

Not what I expected

Glamping pods were great. Did exactly what it said on the tin. Area is lovely and Rostrevor is a nice little village. We didnt do the activities but it looked like there was plenty to choose from. Would definitely recommend! 

Great spot

Stayed here as a family of four in one of the pods. Pods, although they are pretty small, were clean. Big table in middle folds down to make a double bed. We left ours up and slept on the benches as they were because there was no room for storage. It would have been nice to have somewhere to put food etc but we knew before hand what we were getting - a true glamping experience!. Outside every pod was a table and a little chiminea for night time fire. There was only 1 toilet and shower for male and female an initially i thought this may be an issue but it was not - Both were very clean and kept that way throughout the day. Kitchen area was also very clean. Quiet Time curfew (11pm - 7am) is strictly enforced and there were no issues with noise. Scenery from Pod area is beautiful and just 5 mins up the road from Kilbroney Park and all it has to offer. If you are interested in camping in amazing scenery in a stunning part of the country but dont want the hassle of tents then this is the place for you!

Lovely break in beautiful part of the country

So on our way home from Drogheda Ireland. We visited East Coast Activity Centre. There are 3 venues to this activity centre. One in Warrenpoint where we completed water activities and where we completed mountain biking was just down the road in Rostrevor. Fabulous scenic part of NIreland I would highly recommend. Especially with the gorgeous weather we are having at this time of the year. I was lucky enough to get a groupon 2 for one for the m.biking which cost £40 (normally 40 each) and the other 3 water activities amounted to£20 each. Which was great value and my two teenagers (both 15) loved this. The water activities lasted about 3 hours and m.biking you follow any trail you want. Please a word of warningregarding mountain biking. I found out its not a group but individual  biking and if you dont know the trails get the guy who hires out the bikes to show you on the map they are all colour coded. As my son ended up falling of his bike and crashing...not good. But th

Had a wondeful stay, pod was perfect, beds surprisingly large and comfortable. Kitchen and bathroom pods had all we required. Need to bring your own BBQ. Views amazing...made even better with our luck to be there during some amazing summer weather
