Spent two nights here attending a wedding.  We stayed in a garden room with hot tub. This was lovely although I may be would not grade 5* - more for just the finishing touches really, wooden walls attracted dust which was not cleaned properly, wobbly toilet roll holder, stains on chairs and curtains etc. These are all minor but I feel re what makes a 5* hotel stand out. Room was lovely though and had a mini kitchen in it with microwave, kettle, fridge, cups, plates etc. Products supplied to start the chiminea off. Hot tub was lovely although no jets on it (this did not bother me but worth mentioning). Garden was very water logged - think there must be a drainage issue as all the other rooms had similar issues but it had rained a lot in fairness. Main hotel building was beautiful and the wedding venue was delightful with a pretty backdrop for the couple to take their vows. The master of ceremonies was really good at keeping everything flowing smoothly. He ensured that the vegetarians received their own canapés and informed us of how the wedding breakfast buffet would work as vegetarian etc. We retired to various lounges after the event and this finished the day off nicely. Of note if you want to stay in the main hotel, I think you can only stay on the night of the wedding as other weddings are in days before and after etc. A few guests had to move rooms from garden to hotel but could only check in after 3pm which I think can be a bit awkward if you need a room to get ready etc/relax before the wedding ceremony. For this reason I am glad and would recommend staying in a garden room for the entire stay then you don’t need to relocate part way through your stay if staying more than one night.

Lovely break whilst attending a wedding

We booked the night as a family member was getting married. We were offered a discount as part of the wedding party. However, it was cheaper to book on line and we saved £65 by booking the garden room which included a hot tub and a bottle of prosecco (£300). We arrived early and had intended to have lunch at Newton hall, as check in was not until 3pm. Sadly, no food is served at the Hall. Instead we were directed to walk through the static caravan graveyard to their sister property The Joiners Arms (see my separate review for this). Upon check in we were surprised at the size of the garden room. It was a good size and well equipped. Sadly, the bottle of bubbles were not waiting for us and I had to walk back to the hall to ask where it was, as the phone in the room was not working. On the two occassions I walked back to the hall it was like the Mary Celeste and I had to search for staff to resolve my issues. Although the garden room was nice and hot tub a treat, I have stayed at nicer places for less money with more ateltentive staff.

Did not meet my expectations.

We got married here in February. We stayed the night before, night of and night after in different rooms all of which were amazing. A lot of our family and friends stayed on site too and all had a lovely stay. In the lead up to and during the wedding the staff were absolutely amazing, couldn’t have done anything more. Everything ran like clockwork. On the day Andrew was our master of ceremonies and was so attentive and not only made sure guests were where they needed to be but also ensured that we got some couple only time at different stages of the day. Andrew had actually shown us round the venue when we first saw it and we could tell then how much he loved his work and the venue so him being MOC made the day even more special. The wedding team was amazing in ensuring they answered all questions (special thanks to Lauren who never made me feel silly for asking the little questions!) and catering for a serious allergy wasn’t a problem. The food was absolutely unreal and many guests went out of their way to tell us how much they enjoyed it! We would recommend this venue to everyone. Thank you so much for making our dream day a reality!

Wedding of our dreams

I really don’t know where to start this was the most disappointing stay ever, all started on arrival we arrived at around 15:20 car park fine full but managed to get parked. Made our way to the little hut which is reception to receive the most frosty welcome no nice to see you welcome, have you stayed with us before nothing literally reg there sign there and I need a card for £50 holding. Ok so done that we were on a dinner bed and breakfast package in a deluxe garden room so I asked where do we go for food, she replied short walk passed the caravans gave us the keys and that was that, after wondering around for ten minutes in the rain we found our room. Now let make this very clear so not luxury and so not worth the money you pay there’s was old bird poop all over the front door and windows dirty but it’s March so wasn’t to bothered, but then inside it just got worse, previous persons hair clips all over the floor, beer and wine bottle tops everywhere, urine still in toilet and a half eaten lime just on the side in the bathroom, these rooms are so small this could not have been missed by the cleaner. So again I just picked it all up and put it in the bin, I then noticed we had no s’mores kit as promised so decided to go back to reception, the lady was still there and was just adamant she had put it in there herself, I explained I had checked everywhere and she said she put it on the side, I found this odd so I asked if we were in the right room as of how dirty it was totally just ignored me tuck the room number and said yes that’s yours I will ring house keeping and ring you I stated she couldn’t as signal up there really bad and the phone in the room did not work must just be for show 🤦🏼‍♀️ so she said once they get back to me I will bring it along before you go for dinner at 5. Well she didn’t so went for tea at the joiners arms which was lovely and thought when we return it should be there, nope was not went to reception but she had left, didn’t bother using the hot tub as to be quite honest with the room not being cleaned didn’t want to risk it so another waste of money, as we had no s’mores kit to toast the fire didn’t get used either. Also worth mentioning the path to the pub is an absolute nightmare and pitch black so please take care, we were provided with a torch but it didn’t work. So just to decided to have an early night as this was by know means the luxury relaxing stay I had in mind, now the bed I kept sort of falling in the middle and there was something really hard I  thought it was a spring anyway after no sleep it was finally morning, I pulled the sheet off and the bed was two single mattresses pushed together like wow, honest it was that awful from start to finish if I had of been a confident driver on country roads in the dark I would have came home. Went for breakfast which again was lovely. Then handed the key back again told another lady about our problems she said a manager would get back to me but not holding my breath as now 14:00 and to be fair still waiting for that s’mores kit. This was really unfortunate as I was really excited about our stay, but definitely won’t be returning, I really think they need to take the luxury and five stars off their website as it is most definitely not it’s on my top of bad stays. It’s a real shame as Runa farm is beautiful the staff are super attentive and make your stay really special, the little touches they done for our Anniversary was ten stars ⭐️ and I think this is part of the same group that’s why i was so excited.

Disappointing 😞

Our visit to Newton Hall was genuinely enjoyable. Tucked away in beautiful scenery, it offered a peaceful retreat with a mix of old-world charm and modern comforts. The staff was friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from start to finish. Dining there was a highlight, with tasty dishes and a cozy atmosphere. Exploring the well-kept grounds was a treat, offering a nice blend of relaxation and discovery. It's a place we'd happily recommend for a relaxing break.

Lovely Stay

Stayed here with my Mum, Sister and 2 Niece's. We had 2 garden rooms that joined together. Facilities where truly outstanding. Rooms had everything we needed. Very comfortable stay. Loved that we had use of a private hot tub and chimney. Super relaxing stay, would highly recommend 

Beautiful Garden Room Stay

Beautiful place, with attentive & helpful staff, only downside was that they did not do evening meals, but the local pub is only a short walk, but booking is recommended. Breakfast is superb, with local produce & individually cooked


Beautiful spot, found by chance

Thieves. my stay was pre booked and paid for by a wedding planning team. however was asked for my card on arrival as a deposit, and was then charged a further Twice by the hotel. no apology offered. had to chase refunds. terrible service and a complete letdown to a beautiful location.

Just stayed in the garden rooms for 2 nights, clean hot-tub, stocked logs for chimea,  great staff, great service from joiners arms takeaway breakfast. Very dog friendly.  Overall a lovely relaxing experience, great coastal location for walks either north or south

Lovely

We were stuck in a very poorly designed room in an outbuilding. There was insufficient space between my side of the bed and the wall and despite me only being 5’4 and 9 stone, I couldn’t pass in between the bed and the wall without risking hitting a radiator. 

There was a malfunctioning radiator outside the room which woke us intermittently throughout the night. It sounded like there was a 50cc moped outside our bedroom’s door. Neither of us felt we’d had a moment’s sleep. 

The bathroom lights were flickering and may have been dangerous to anyone with light-sensitive epilepsy, the hot water tap came off in my hand and the table carrying the kettle and the complementary drinks was bizarrely laid out with a wooden crate holding everything. 

We won’t be returning.
