The location is fantastic and the cottage is in many respects a really comfortable inviting place to stay. The difficulties arose with being told we could arrive at a time which was then denied. Various problems arose with a fridge that did not close and a freezer that was emitting an emergency signal. Gabrielle denied any problem and it was only after contacting Sykes that Andy came to the cottage. Although he initially said he would bring the new appliances they had he did not follow this through. So we were left with a fridge with the fire extinguisher wedged against it. Some of our salad and fruit went off and we had a mild bout of diahorrea which we could not explain otherwise. Later when we advised Sykes about all of this we were told that they would not give us compensation. We had no intention  of seeking compensation but were concerned about health and safety. Generally the cottage was not cleaned well which during Covid is concerning. The fire was not cleaned out. The back of the loo had brown streaks on it, yuk!. And the fridge and freezer were dirty. Would not recommended 

Broken appliance, poor cleaning and maintenanve

We had a two night stay in one of the camping pods. We already previously knew the site was there but have never stayed. Brimpts is in a brilliant location and you can walk in any direction out onto the moors.

Although the pod was basic, the facilities were clean and the welcome was great.

The Forest Inn at Hexworthy is a 20-25 min walk so a great evening activity, plus a swim in the Dart.

Basic camping pod in the best location!

This place was excellent. I'm not usually a camper but the fact that you don't have to put up a tent was a big sell. The views were incredible. To wake up, push a door open and be greeted by the Moor was a real treat. Everyone on the farm was really friendly, they couldn't have been more welcoming. I could go in but nobody wants to read a long review, but I will say that we will definitely return. Thanks.

We have just spent a family night away camping in a pod at Brimpts Farm. We know the location well and wanted to introduce our 6 year olds to camping and this was perfect. The pods are basic but have good bunks and storage. We made great use of the fire pit. We all had a lovely family break here and our girls are hooked. We hope to return in September with our horses. Thanks Andy and Gabrielle.

Camping pod fun

Spent a night in one of the pods - basic but comfortable and beautiful scenery.
The pods are in a wonderful setting with great Dartmoor views - definitely one better than camping and perfectly adequate for a couple of nights stay.

Great pod stay

Based on the smart website I was expecting more.  On the positive side the Pods were cheap and in a nice, very rural, location. The owners were also very friendly.  The Pods had fixed bunks and good mattresses.  However the facilities, although clean, were in need of a refurb and very basic.  The Pod door jammed and didnt have a working lock.  It also had a strange blue glowing light that wasn’t bright enough to be useful, but also wouldn’t turn off.  The Pods were also close together and lacked privacy.

Very basic Pods and facilities

We stayed in one of the camping pods here for a few days and had a wonderful time. A peaceful atmosphere in a really beautiful location.  The pods are great basic accommodation for the price, perfect for sheltering from the rain and great to not have to worry about pitching your tent. I would highly recommend for anybody who is looking for a stress-free camping experience. We will definitely be returning!

Lovely stay in a lovely location

This review relates only to the camping pods. The owners are friendly and seem to provide some nice facilities, however the description of the camping pods implies much more than what we saw.

I will be happy to retract this review if the word 'glamping' is removed from the website marketing.

If you are expecting the common standard of glamping (essentially hotel room facilities in a camping setting) you will be very disappointed. If you want to camp but in a hut instead of a tent this wil be fine.

On turning off the road take the right hand path (there is no signage indicating which one, the other takes you into the forest)

Quoted price was £50 (£10 extra because we booked only one night), we were presented with a small wooden hut with single bunk beds and no bedding. A fire pit was the only dedicated facility, with a trailer full of logs in the corner of the field. The hut had a lock but we were given no keys.

The toilet (one for all the pods and presumably any tents in the field) was through the next field in what seems to be a disused conference building, it did not flush.

The showers were further still, in a concrete toilet block next to the car parking area round the corner.

A quick google search will tell you that this is not glamping. 'Camping Pods' is perfectly accurate but this is a less-than-minimum effort at including glamping facilities. At minimum, bedding should have been provided (without me having to ask for it). Dedicated electricity and running water is also a must. Most glamping places offer much more, proving en suite facilities, decorated spacious accommodation and true comfort albeit at a higher price.

Shocked, we drove to a nearby town and stayed in a beautiful B&B for £40 extra. This almost ruined our holiday, we were relieved to have avoided the camping pods.

The camping pods are not 'glamping'

During an event, we were staying in this B+B. The location of the farm is very beautiful, quiet and surrounded by nature. The room is well maintained and clean, the meal was organized by the organizer.
