We were definitely disappointed and would rate a 2/3 star not 4. It was very dirty, dust hanging from the ceiling, cobwebs, mouldy blinds and oven, dirty towels, yellow pillowcases. Everything was dated and we had to wash pans / crockery etc before we could use it. The location was great for driving to local beaches etc, and the apartment was warm, but it really smelt when we arrived so we had to febreeze it all. So wouldn’t stay again.

Good location, but not clean

We couldn't fault the house itself. Very clean and modern. However, we were promised a smart TV, which is wasn't. The tv in the bedroom didn't work. The master bed was broken, sadly it was more like a seesaw. "The venue" was nice enough but wouldn't spend a huge amount of time there unless we can sit outside. The live music was very enjoyable. The location was a little difficult, you couldn't really go anywhere without a car and the taxi services in that area were awful!! Also, the welcome packs need updating as the taxi numbers are out of date, or the companies were nowhere near us. Don't get me wrong, we had a really lovely stay and if it weren't for the location, we'd stay again. There were just a couple of niggles that need looking at. Oh, and the fridge wasn't cold enough.

Clean and comfortable villa. Private and very quiet.  Well equipped and all the amenities you would expect. Having WiFi in Cornwall is an added bonus. Very useful having two bathrooms, and lovely to have your own little garden to sit and have a coffee  Great to have a private drive for parking. Would definitely stay again.

Really enjoyable stay.

Just had a fantastic break away at Bay Retreat, lovely accommodation and very clean.  Quiet location with short drive to nearby beaches and Padstow which has lovely restaurants and quant shops.
Only slight negative was the sitting area, the chairs and settee were not particularly comfortable, but this would certainly not stop us returning. 


Fantastic Bay Retreat

We stayed here for 3 nights in January with a Groupon deal. I booked with confidence after seeing the company photos as it looked lovely, however after reading some reviews about cleanliness & the bungalow park area the villa was located on I was a bit worried. This was totally unnecessary as when we arrived it was just like the photos. The key was left in the keysafe on the wall by the door and all we had to do was enter the code we were emailed to get the key. We stayed in villa 10, it was very clean and well laid out with everything a family of 4 needed. The sofa and chairs in the living area were comfortable and the bed in the main bedroom was super comfortable. One of my daughters did say her bed wasn't as good as her own at home but didn't say it wasn't comfy. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a meal in the evening & there is a dishwasher so no pot washing which is always good and there was also dishwasher tablets provided. 
A minor complaint would be the bath water wasnt hot, it was warm at best and I was looking forward to a hot bath after a very wet and windy day in Cornwall, the shower was nice and hot though so that was good. Also when we arrived there was a dish on the worktop with complimentary coffee sachets, sugar & UHT milk cartons, my youngest daughter loves to drink the milk cartons and did drink one before I saw they were 2 months out of date. Not great really especially as if they weren't there it wouldn't have detracted anything from our stay but by providing them out of date it created a negative image.

Enjoyable stay

Excellent little holiday villa’s in a fantastic part of Cornwall! Only a short drive down to some great beaches. 

Initially when you drive in it looks like a sleepy holiday park, but don’t be put off. The villa’s themselves are in a separate area of their own. The grounds are really well kept & there is convenient parking outside. 

The interior is really nicely laid out. Modern decor & all modern appliances. 

Each villa has a small secure garden/patio area. Perfect for letting the dog out. 

The only gripe’s we had was that the leather sofa wasn’t in the best of conditions & the cleanliness in some area’s wasn’t quite to our standard. Could have done with a little more attention to detail but maybe that’s us just being picky. Understandable I suppose with it being dog friendly accommodation. 

Overall, we loved our stay & we’d certainly recommend!

Excellent little villa’s. Great location.

Clean and tidy and generally well equipped (apart from baking trays). Exceptionally comfortable beds apart from very poor sofa bed. Lots of linen and towels and basics like washing up
Liquid, cloth, tea towels and few dishwasher tablets. 
Very well situated for visiting north coast of Cornwall

Lovely week

We booked a 3 night stay at the Bay Retreat Villas. The villa sleeps 6 in 2 bedrooms, one double bedroom and one 2 single beds. The sofa in the living area folds out into a double bed. 

The living, dinning and kitchen are all open place. There is a small enclosed back garden. We were in a dog friendly villa.

The villa  was provided with tea towels, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, and enough toilet rolls for our 3 night stay.  The beds and pillows and all the seating were really comfortable.

The site itself is basic, it does have a small convenience store and an entertainment venue. There is also a children's play area and tennis courts.  It is within easy reach of Padstow.

There are several eating places in St Merryn, we ate at the The Farmer's Arms Inn and had an amazing meal, would definitely recommend. 

We had a lovely stay and would stay here again 

Good place to stay

While this property is clean and tidy, it is also isolated. There really is nothing about this park site that is appealing to us and it is actually closer to 5 miles from Padstow. No public transport to speak of and dangerous roads not suitable for walking or cycling. Taxis very hard to get hold of. Certainly can’t go anywhere without driving. 

The coast and Bay Area is stunning. Lots of walking routes and plenty of places to find refreshment. Beware of beach parking - in some places it applies as soon as you drive in - even if you don’t stay. Concealed CCTV in place.

Location An Issue

House was of a good standard and had everytthing you would need for your holiday.
Pretty good location, beach a 3-4 mile walk with parking. Park has a small shop with essentials and a club house with entertainment at weekends.
