Very disappointed with the condition of the course.
Tee boxes were in a poor condition, grass had not been cut and there were no tee markers .
Fairways also looked like they had not been cut for some time and the grass was long .
The greens were in a poor state and had also not been cut , some of them were in a poor state. The flag holes had not been edged and had grass growing into them. 
The bunkers had not been edged and contained little or no sand , the ones that had some sand had not been raked . Thanks 
I know that the course had only been open for 2 days to the public after lockdown but expected it to be in better shape . 
If it had been £10 a round I would not have complained but pricing it at £22 for a morning tee time and £18 for a afternoon tee time I was expecting more . There is a pay and play course down the road that can be played and the most expensive tee time is £14.50 that would nick spots of this place .
Sad to say it will be a long time before I return.

18 holes of golf 

We arrived and there was no one in reception, however there was a sign stating use the desk phone, however this didn’t work. We used the reception phone and 5 minutes later a mature man entered reception which startled our dog. The dog barked (he was on a short lead) and he said he said if “he’s going to be like that”. I explained that he had startled him.
The receptionist was friendly towards us but clearly doesn’t like dogs which he stated on a number of occasions. We felt guilty for bringing him and quite anxious throughout our stay. Later in the evening we called into the spike room and the same person said “I hope he’s not with you”. I explained that I had an email stating that we could bring our dog into the spike room. We had one quick drink as we didn’t feel welcome.
I recognise that not everybody likes dogs but if you state you are “dog friendly” then you should be so and customers shouldn’t feel anxious. It significantly spoilt our stay and we left early.
The room was comfortable, warm and a good size. We come to Bridgend on a frequent basis but we will not come here again.

Reconsider dog friendly status

Arranged for 15  french guests to stay at St Marys for the Wales France game.
We arrived on the friday earlier than planned, everyone was so helpful. after our excursion to the big pit we returned for drinks and Dinner.
David who was on duty was incredible ( Thank you)
They arranged for us to have a table set up to sit 17 people together ( myself and my wife as well as guests)
The service we received from Dave and Kirsty Made the evening.
The food was excellent

From the start with the booking and dealing with Alison right until the moment we left, no more could have been done to make our stay more welcoming.

We stayed for the weekend as part of family get together. Found this due to dog friendly hotel but when we got there we found out that it was NOT that dog friendly as our dog had to be kept in the bedroom while we were having dinner, breakfast not even in the bar where most places do.
Of course my dog was anxious as it was a strange place for him so he ended up barking!  otherwise the food was very good and the service too. Wifi was poor too although there was nice surroundings to walk the dog.
So it was difficult to make a brilliant review as we wanted a dog friendly hotel for the weekend.

We short notice decided to spend a night celebrating a Birthday and nobody driving home. The staff could not have been more helpful if they tried. Food was excellent, they also do not excessively charge for wine and all the rooms were spacious and bathrooms excellent. Only fly in the ointment is WiFi or connectivity, I could only make calls outside and the WiFi is very poor, but we were there to spend time with family. 
The courtyard is a beautiful sun trap to spend a couple of hours with a glass or 2.
Would happily come and stay again

Lovely short stay

We went for lunch on recommendation of a friend.    Smaller than I expected in the bar area and it as very busy.  We chose our meals from the menu but ther was a specials board which we had not noticed, unfortunately. The staff were very friendly and the food was nice and served to us very quickly considering the amount of customers.   We would definitely go back again.

First visit

We did not stay at this venue, however, we joined our wonderful ex neighbours for an evening meal  and get together/ So wonderful to be with  them. They wanted us to join them for an evening meal. Oh boy, were we disappointed. For what they charged  we would have at least expected a restaurant ambience. Nope a restaurant manager (we think) told us 'Sit anywhere'. in what only could be called a pub end of the 'Golf Club; It was absolutely obvious the menu was trying to be for an upscale clientele???? OK, we are aware of this type of menu to be frugal and excellent quality. This was neither. Awful !!!! , we felt as if we were were there as an afterthought (apart from, the lovely waitress, who apologised for our wait, bless her). We are people who would not normally make waves and we did not. Just to say I would certainly not recommend this venue in any shape or form

Meeting wonderful friends and ex neighbous.

I stay here regularly on business trips and the hotel is nice. Very clean with everything you need. The staff are lovely and helpful. 

The best part of this hotel is the restaurant, some of the best meals I’ve ever had have been courtesy of the chef at St Mary’s. Would highly recommend a meal here. 

My only issue with this hotel is, as I mentioned, I have to stay here for business regularly and the WiFi is dreadful. When it does actually work, it’s slower than a tortoise running in treacle and rarely works for more than a few minutes. I realise you don’t stay at hotels simply to go online but it really makes working, browsing and watching any kind of online streaming very difficult. The hotel, with being a golf course too, is quite out of the way from any kind of civilisation so I tend to stay there and just try to watch Netflix or something. 

Please improve. 

Other than that, it’s a great hotel and I would highly recommend. 

Food great, WiFi not so much. 

St Mary’s hotel is run by a small team of friendly staff.  I stay on a regular basis whilst on business and am always made to feel welcome. The food in the restaurant is excellent with a varied menu and specials changing frequently. The rooms are clean and comfortable.

Stayed here for one night while my car was being serviced just down the road.
Lovely small hotel.bar. nice resteraunt good food. All the rooms a large with twin double king size beds two big easy arm chairs. Plus a great 18 hole golf course. £67 a night including a big breakfast. Close to Bridgend. Wales
