The best, special, amazing, fantastic, fun, enjoyable wedding day, vows, party ever filled with love, happiness. Will be locked in our thoughts, dreams, memories to stay for eternity. Will definitely lift our mood/spirit if we have a bad day!!

Chris' & Stacey's Wedding

We broke down just outside Port Talbot and managed to get our car to The Grand Hotel. We spent the night there waiting for breakdown recovery. The staff were incredibly friendly - we felt so welcome and this made a difficult night into an adventure. We loved the space - it is bright and cheerful with a great style including some really interesting art by a local artist called Bert Evans. We had a drink - which we really needed. I cannot thank the amazing staff enough for coming to our rescue. They were professional and kind. Thank you so much to everyone at The Grand.

Booked here for a full days wedding package and all was going great.  Was told just before midnight the bar was closing.  No last orders just closed end of play, done.  Then we were told the dj was finishing at midnight .  Was a shock as on the day before when we went down to see up the room was told we had the functio room, bar and dj till 1 am.  Thought it was all a mistake until security from the legends bar walked in and told the dj to stop playing at 12.05.  Twice I asked to speak to the manager to be told he was busy and will come find you.  When I finally got to speak to him he said I was told it was midnight, then he changed his mind and said the residents were complaining.   So which is it?? He was not apologetic at all and made no attempt to try and resolve it was just a blank no get out!  If you want to complain speak to the wedding planner as this is her issue I don't have authority to offer you anything speak to Blancos.  Not only does he not have a back bone but he does not have any people skills and should not be doing his job.  He basically took an amazing day and and destroyed it not only fir the bride and groom but for all the guests.  Jack, Jaques or however you spell your name you should not be in hospitality unless you are a cleaner coz that is probably all you are good for!!

Disgusting behaviour of so called manager!!

£70 for a room is overpriced. Everywhere was dirty or grubby, blinds in the rooms broken/mouldy. The carpets not hoovered. The bedding and towels were clean. Signs everywhere saying the hotel was under a re-vamp??. Breakfast disappointing, coffee cold, toaster took ages to toast bread. No jam/ marmalade, hash browns cold and soggy. However the staff at reception and bar were so lovely and friendly. The lift was out of order, my 80 year old mum just about managed to get up and down the stairs to the first floor. Nobody told us we had to use the back entrance to get into Hotel at 11.30pm

This Hotel needs a good clean and Re-Vamp

We had booked two rooms for our family of four at this hotel. The good news was that the car park was free, which was a relief. Our experience with the rooms varied; the first room was acceptable, but the second room was great, possibly due to recent refurbishment. Overall, we were satisfied with the accommodation.

The hotel itself had a rich history, and the building had a lot of character and space. However, there were some noticeable drawbacks. The corridor carpets were in a sorry state and desperately needed cleaning. We also observed several kids playing in the stairways, landings, and corridors, which wasn't ideal. There were even ladders and bicycles left in the stairway, making it seem cluttered and disorganiSed. Later, we discovered that the hotel was accommodating people from abroad due to an ongoing war. While we understood the situation, it would have been considerate if the hotel had informed us of this during check-in.

Our stay took an unfortunate turn when there was a wedding party with music at full blast. My 74-year-old mother struggled to sleep, and our room seemed to vibrate with the noise. We complained to the reception, but they informed us that they couldn't do anything, and we'd have to endure the noise until the party ended.

The following morning, we went down for breakfast and were surprised to learn that the hotel only offered continental breakfast. We were directed to their sister hotel 15 MINUTES AWAY for a hot breakfast. This information should have been clearly stated on the website or communicated during check-in.

Additionally, the hotel's Wi-Fi was quite poor, which added to our list of grievances. Effective communication is crucial, and the hotel needs to address these issues promptly. The staff also seemed unprepared to handle various customer inquiries, indicating a need for better training.

While the hotel has the potential to be great once it's fully refurbished, until then, they must focus on addressing these basic issues to ensure a more pleasant stay for their guests..

Disappointing all because of failure to communicate

Was looking forward to calling into the hotel for a quick drink and seeing all the improvements they've made as I hadn't been in there for years. The decor was absolutely beautiful but I'm afraid that's about it. I asked the barmaid for two said and blacks only for her to then ask me what that was! I said its blackcurrant with soda water. She then brought the blackcurrant to the bar and asked "is this it"? What the hell??? You're the barmaid, you tell me! I then ordered some cake and was given a knife and fork wrapped up in a yellow napkin. The fork was stinking and covered in what looked like jam. I gave it back and was then given a TEASPOON to eat! Alongside that, all you could see and hear were kids running up and down the stairs making a racket. It's safe to say we won't be going back.

Barmaid that doesn't know her drinks

We decided to hold a retirement party in the newly appointed function room.
From start to finish the management and staff were amazing as they were accomadating and were able to meet our requests.it was quite a large function of 70 guests and up to 16 joining later for drinks.
The food and bar service was efficient, of excellent quality and value for money.
We were able to decorate the room early and gain access and the staff helped with creating a table plan.
The staff and management couldn't have been more helpful.everyine who attended gave a thumbs up for the surroundings, outside terrace area, choice of drinks, quality of food and level of service.
An amazing day was had by all.
Thank you to Paula, Jack and the team for making the day a success.we look forward to coming back for other functions for other colleagues or special occasions.
It is also good to note the close links to the rail station as people had travelled from Swansea, Cardiff,  Bridgend and beyond and thus was very convenient for those wishing to have a drink in the party.although there is parking at the rear of the hotel and a public car park nearby.

Amazing party

I was staying in Port Talbot for a night for work and had used their car park behind. My car was only there for max 30-40mins and I had returned to my car to see that it had been blocked in by 2 cars. 

I had called the receptionist to see if the pored cars were from the hotel and if they knew who the owners were so the cars could be moved. Barring in mind that I had appointments that day and needed to leave ASAP.

To my surprise the hotel does not know who parks their cars there as it could be anyone and cars are left parked carelessly. You can’t just block cars in that are parked in the correct bays! 

The receptionist was no help whatsoever and indeed after No support and suggesting she could not help, suggested I called the police! How can you not know who parks in your own private car park! 

Luckily with a help of a few locals I managed to squeeze out of the space and be on my way, glad I won’t be back to this wreck of a hotel anytime soon!

What a joke! Please avoid

I met up with 3 friends on Saturday 25th March for a few afternoon drinks. We decided to start our day off at the Grand Hotel in Port Talbot. I haven’t been to the Grand since before the COVID-19 Pandemic and was pleasantly surprised at the upgrade carried out on the whole property. 
The Bar is comfortable and spacious and with numerous Large T.V.’s appropriately positioned its a good venue to watch all sporting events.  The Toilets were immaculate which for me is an important factor and all the staff were extremely polite and friendly.
A special thank you to Cody who was looking after us in the Bar, a very pleasant young lady who provided fantastic table service to us and other customers. 
We’ll certainly be returning in the near future.

A Grand Day Out

A one night stay for 2, with breakfast came out at £90. On arrival, first impressions were positive. Nice and clean exterior with a modern look to its downstairs reception and bar area. They tried to charge me £110, initially, but was changed without quibble once I queried it. Moving up to our room, good impressions continued as the hotel is clean, looks plush and is nicely decorated. The room itself was nice too, clean, with easy to get wifi and working TV. The first thing I saw was a hole in the bathroom door where someone had kicked it? The en suite is nice enough, the shower having both fixed and moveable shower heads, but where was the hook on the door to hang my towell? Why was the mirror light not working? The info booklet left on the dresser is a good idea, but looks cheap and tacky. Breakfast was a weak affair, made more bearable by good staff, but not a great selection. This hotel could be a lot better for the price. They just need to pull their socks up a little.
