This is a lovely B&B with one of the nicest breakfasts I’ve ever had. Lovely welcoming staff and a beautifully charming cosy hotel. 
It has character, creaky wonky floors and walls - set in the heart of beautiful Pulborough. Parking was plentiful and easily accessed. 
I dropped a star only because my primary need for a hotel is sleep, I struggled here as with the age of the building it was a little noisy and the church across the way sounds it’s bells every hour. 
However, I will be back. With earplugs :) it was a gorgeous little gem of a place 🤍

Quirky and welcoming

Warm,welcoming and friendly.This hotel is in a great spot and the owners are wonderful.Easy walk to station or to the main road and the bus stops.Longer walk to Garden centre and White Hart pub on the river by the old scenic stone bridge.Big Tesco store couple of minutes walk away.

GREAT LONG WEEKEND .GREAT PEOPLE,SERVICE AND VIEWS

This is a small B&B with 12 rooms...good value in a central South Downs explore area away from the suburban coast.

The breakfast is one of the best we have had served by a delightful lady.

When we arrived you step onto a worn out mat and I thought "oh no" we have have made a mistake but from then on everything was fine.....first impressions are so important! The lights in the lounge should also be on?

No dinner but a list is provided ..avoid the Italian and the one in town go for the White Hart outside overlooking a 15th century  bridge.

Not a Hotel but great B&B

John was fantasticly friendly and helpful. Lovely room. Mattress and pillows super comfortable: slept really well. Superb shower and great breakfast, which was cooked to perfection. Great location. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

SUPERB! Highly recommend

A delightful small hotel in the village of Pulborough, not too far from the coast and within easy reach of Brighton or Worthing and other coastal resorts. Unfortunately, the main road outside is closed at present and has been since about November due to a land slip and it appears the council are keener to argue about whose responsible than to get the work done and the road open, so to get to the hotel you have to take back roads which are in a disgraceful state and more reminiscent of a war zone than a decent road system.  Feel sorry for the hotel and other local businesses who are clearly being hit badly by this closure.
The owners are delightful and gave us a warm welcome and we were shown to our room which was spotless and had a fourposter bed which as a back sufferer I found quite comfortable. The bathroom was a good size, although the shower is over the bath, so if you have trouble getting your leg over, you may struggle to get in and out.  Tea and coffee making facilities including a coffee machine.  Breakfast was superb with plenty of choice and the full English would take some beating.
Only downside was no evening meals at present, although with the road closure we understood why which meant no bar for an evening tipple, but would certainly stay again if in the area.  The room did have creaky floorboards, but that just made it home from home for us😂

Very pleasant stay

We got stranded in Pulborough due to car problems and a train strike preventing us from getting home. Luckily the Chequers had rooms available and were able to accommodate us for the night. We were given a double room with a four-poster bed which was very, very comfortable. The room was furnished with charming antique furniture. The floor was very squeaky, but only to be expected in such an old building.
Tea, coffee and hot chocolate were provided along with a couple of kit kat type bars. There was also a Nespresso machine with a couple of pods provided.
Plenty of long life milk pods too. (Premier Inn take note!).
Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choices.  I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. 

An unexpected but great stay

Came across this extremely fabulous hotel whilst I did a search for ( value accommodation in or around Pulborough) 
I booked for one night for me and my son. 
We were greeted by the owner who very kindly advised me where to park my large recovery truck.
It was an extremely cold night, but soon warmed up when we entered the hotel, so warm !!!! 
We were shown to our twin room, OUTSTANDING.  so comfortable and even warmer than the reception,  we had travelled a lot of miles,  so just wanted to relax and have a good sleep,  we certainly did !!! Breakfast was outstanding too, plenty of it, and fantastic quality of food. 
To sum up, fantastic hotel,  and excellent value for money.  
£79.00 for a twin room including a full English breakfast,  and free WiFi (stayed with my 15year old son) . 
Cheaper than the two local national favourites!!!!!!!.

Lovely B&B the owners are very nice and on hand to help Bed and room comfortable Breakfast is to die for could not fault ample parking on opposite side of road . We had the room overlooking the view
Only thing Shower could do with updating  apart from that LOVELY!!!!  

Great place

After 3 nights backpacking on the South Downs Way, this was a major treat. A short walk from the train station. Friendly welcome and big comfortable room. King sized bed and small sofa, en-suite with bath and two types of shower. Very decent hot drink provision in the room including a nespresso machine. Absolutely fabulous breakfast and friendly waitress Judy. I stayed solo and paid £84 and that was a great deal. It was a bit of a hike up to the So India restaurant but really worth it too.

What a great stay.

Recently stayed at the hotel for a family wedding, the staff were very friendly and helpful.  Rooms were comfortable and the atmosphere of the hotel welcoming.  Would recommend The Chequers and will certainly go back when next in the area.
