A winter stay while visiting family on the island. 

Large clean and comfy room made for a very pleasant stay despite the cold outside.

Excellent breakfast set us I for the day each morning served by the lovely Ally. 

Excellent pub food and cost old school pub bar enhanced the experience.

Good value, good food, good accommodation and lovely staff, what is not to like.

This place is brilliant 🤩!!!
We have been here at least 5 times and every time they have passed with flying colours of how good it is . 
Very helpful Staff and the Carvery is delicious, one thing that could be better if we got lamb when we were there , just try to book a early lunch or a dinner for a chancer to get lamb ! 

Sunday Carvery  

Popped in for lunch with my wife and two children. Staff were happy to accommodate despite a busy afternoon of reservations. Food reasonably priced, plenty of options and portion sizes generous. I had the pie of the day (Turkey and stuffing), it was delicious! Kids meals looked great and service was perfect.  Highly recommend for tourists looking for a trusted place to eat with great wholesome food.

Today's Sunday roast was a carvery, it was very good apart from fat but it be in the car for the vegetables are on a hot plate so they're not boiling hot good service choice between a small and a large prices for very good about £12.50small and £17 for a large Ava children £7.20 I had the Turkey and it was really very nice

Having booked late it was nice to be offered a choice of tables.  We were seated and then given menu's and a drink order taken.  Despite being busy the staff were very attentive.  We shared a starter of whitebait.  A little disappointed as we love small and plentiful Whitebait.  Lightly floured.  These were nearly decapitated Sardines,  possibly  rolled in semolina or fine crumb.  Tasty  but not what was expected.  The  main courses were excellent and plenty of it.  Desserts to die for.  Great beers too.  All in all apart from the Sardines a great evening.  

Excellent meal 

We stayed at the Chequers Inn at the start of a week long vacation. The room was lovely , comfortable bed, large fluffy towels and so well kitted out including tea making equipment. There was a great choice at breakfast which was included in the reasonable room rate. We also ate in the restaurant and had a very good meal. A couple of minor  niggles ( the regular ham egg and chips was modest in size and the “proper custard” was a thin and far from “proper” , However the spiced apple and pear crumble was spectacularly good).  The service we received during our stay was first class. A perfect start to our vacation on the Isle of Wight.

First Class accommodation.

We stayed at a gorgeous little Air B&B 10 minutes walk from here  and from the map it was a straight road it was only after getting there did we realise we were taking our lives in our hands walking to it as you need to walk a country road the has several turns and crazy drivers. When we got there the staff and food were amazing  and when we could not get a cab as we thought it would be safer ta wonderful bar maid offered to run us back
We couldnt go back for the rest of the week as it was too dangerous but loved it

Great pub But not accessible if you do not drive

10/10 for our sirloin steak. Cooked to absolute perfection. Great portion size, great friendly service. Couldn't fault anything with our meal, even the salad dressing. Highly recommended and will be coming again. Thank you for a truly tasty meal.

Steak lunch

Third visit in a few years.  Service was slow - over an hour between courses.  Steak tough as old boots.  Chicken burger “with bbq sauce” barely had a smear on the bun.  Bit worried when server asked if we wanted dessert and we had to say we hadn’t even had our main course.  Asked for ketchup and given a thimble size, then told to get sachets, which was the generic catering vinegary ketchup - photo shows difference between them.  Think they have severely over extended their capabilities by introducing a motor home park on their land, therefore increasing covers.  Clearly can’t cope.

Really can’t fault . Place has got better and better through what looks like a lot of effort
Every dish was great. Lovely staff, decent price.
Something for most tastes on menu and apparently I have to write 200 words which quite frankly is pathetic
