We stayed 1 night. The owner welcomed us warmly, you have to ring the bell at the door. We were given room 1.  The bed was comfortable.  The room was clean although the room needed some love and care shown it....light bulbs not working, ceiling damaged and not properly repaired,  we had no towels on arrival and no toilet roll, but we were provided with these within the hour of arrival.  Good wifi.  Now the bathroom....I have never ever experienced anything like it. Toilet moves. The cold tap was not fixed properly. The shower worked lovely but the shower door did not close properly. Holes in the floor which made going in there quite dangerous for anybody with unsure footing...also no room at all....I would not rate this property a 4star property and I would not stay again as the bathroom was shocking. I was very disappointed. Even more shocking was the lack of Covid 19 preparations. No sanitiser anywhere. No soap in the bathroom.  It was a place to rest our head. We had a meal at the Turks head in the evening and the food was lovely and staff very friendly.  I hate leaving negative reviews and wish I had checked out the reviews before my stay.

Regarding The Springfield, Townfoot, Rothbury, NE657SP

 I had booked to stay at the above hotel for 3. As I mentioned to the owner at the time, the accommodation was unsatisfactory in the following ways The bathroom floor was rotten and had holes, the walls were mouldy, the shower was leaking at the wall, the sink taps were loose, the toiletries supplied were part used, there was a half used toilet roll and no spare and there were no towels. The bedroom windows were mouldy and it was difficult to see out of one of them due to the mould, there was a burn mark on the carpet, two of the light bulbs were broken, the window ledges were filthy and had dead insects on them. The wardrobe was across the radiator and the radiator was not working, the ceiling was badly cracked, the kettle was half full of water and the two teabags supplied were loose i.e had no paper covering.
The accommodation was described as “Superior twin room, private bathroom, bath, free toiletries, shower, toilet, desk, tv, ironing facilities, iron, radio, heating, flat-screen-tv, hairdryer, kitchenette, carpeted, electric kettle, alarm clock. (the room certainly was not superior it was dirty and uncared for, there was no bath, there was no desk, there was no radio, there was no heating, there was no kitchenette or alarm clock. 

When I explained that the hotel was not up to the description, the lady was totally disinterested and said so you are not stay and walked out of the door and the problem was not rectified.



Do not book this terrible hotel

Issues as below:
No communication from owner about the fact she'd be over 2 hours late to check in due to a pre-arranged appointment.
Contact number supplied didn't work, mobile number supplied often off, emails unanswered.
No response to email sent which led to confusion.
Very poor attitude from owner when questioned about her errors.
Wrong room provided - double not twin as requested.
Room was not clean - products from previous occupants were still in the room. 
No tea bags. 
No fire safety signage. 
No soap available in room. 
No covid-19 signage or procedures on the property. 
No hand sanatiser available at the property. 
Large slugs in room every morning. 
Very noisy children and dog from owner tearing up and downstairs - no apology for the noise.
Smoking bench right outside of room meaning that smoke blew straight in. 
No internet connection. 
No fan in the bathroom.
No plug for the bath.
No bathmat.
Towels were grey (once white) and very tatty.
Wallpaper peeling from the walls.

Very, very poor

Arrived at this property just after 4pm, rang the doorbell but no answer so went to the hotel bar next door, called the owner and she came and let us in. We were allocated the two ground floor bedrooms. Our friends room had a bath but unfortunately no plug due to one of the boilers being down. On our return from dinner their bath, toilet and sink were half full of waste so we’re unable to use their bathroom all night . Both toilets had sand flow systems which churned on and off all through the night. The back of the toilet hadn’t seen a cloth for months . We cancelled or rooms for the following evening and no refund was offered . Breakfast served in your room, very normal. Place is very tired and in much need of some TLC

Disappointed

Stayed for one night too many. Arrived, rang the bell, no answer.  Went to hotel next door and had a drink and contacted the owner by phone.  When shown the room my husband pointed out that the bath did not have a plug, to which the owner replied this was due to a boiler malfunction.  Looking back at reviews now, this has been a problem since February.  The room and bathroom were of poor quality but we had walked all day and arrived late in the afternoon so accepted the room and showered to the noise of our Saniflo system pumping out the water and the neighbouring rooms!  The furniture was of poor quality and the sofa stained. When we returned from dinner, the bath, wash basin and toilet were half full will waste water that hadn't been there when we left - disgusting!  This was due to an air lock apparently.  We departed and asked for a discount on the room rate given that the bathroom was a no go zone.  Owner insisted we pay the full rate.  If your looking for guest accommodation which offers what a Guest House (Hotel (?) sign - confusing/misleading) should then look elsewhere as you won't get quiet, relaxing, clean and functioning accommodation here!  Also please note no dining room as in photographs - you have a table and two chairs in your room.

Not to be repeated!

Was a bit unsure after i read reviews. But everything was fine. Room spotless and bed so comfy. Lovely touch having breakfast brought to your room and me being a parky eater, my requirements were met without a problem. Danielle was a lovely host and very friendly. Thank you for our stay. From the douglas party. Rooms 2 and 3. We will be back and we will reccommend your guest house.

Lovely host

I booked the springfield without reading the reviews for a 2 night stay with my mother. 
The day before we were due my mam read the reviews on here and started to get worried. 
Well when we arrived we realised that the reviews were nonsense. 
This place is brilliant and the lady that runs it is excellent. 
There is parking right outside the good and we were greeted as soon as we came in. 
They knew the name of my booking and took us straight to the room. 
The room was very spacious and had 2 beds set up for us as requested when we booked. 
The decor is a little outraged but it is all clean and kept nice. 
The beds were actually really really comfortable and we both slept well on both nights. 
The heating was on when we arrived and the temperature was perfect right throughout our stay. Warm to come in to from the cold but not overly hot. 
The bathroom was clean and the shower was really good. The right pressure and temperature but this was adjustable. 
(There were a couple of cobwebs on the ceiling but I don't mind the spiders so it's not a problem) 

Other reviews complain that the hand wash is from Wilko but what's wrong with that?! 

This room was super cheap and well worth every penny. Plus it included an excellent breakfast. 
You get a choice of options and everything we were served was delicious and plenty. 
The food was served in the room which was extra nice because we could just chill out until we were ready to go. 

Tea and coffee is in the room for you too. It would have been nice to have a mint tea option but that's the only thing I would have changed about this hotel. 

Please ignore the other reviews and come stay here. It is exactly what you want for the money and was a really excellent trip away for us. 

I will be back with my husband next time he gets a break from work and I'm already looking forward to it. 

Excellent place to stay

Stayed for one night with my husband, on first look room 2 is lovely however once we settled in we saw how bad it was. Picture frames think with dust, soft furnishings stained,  room smelt damp, bathroom wall full of mould, no bath plug, toliet noisy and didn't flush properly, towels smelt dirty, cobwebs everywhere,  tv remotes filthy and one bed side lamp didn't work. No breakfast as owners oven broke that morning she did however take £10 off final bill. 
Love Rothbury but will definitely be avoiding Springfield in the future. 

One to avoid unfortunately 

We booked a Saturday night stay in this beautiful village of rothbury however the accommodation was a let down 
On arrival there was no one there just a unlocked door after phoning we were told what room to find 
The room was large and spacious with a murky filthy window and blinds showing mould overall the cleanliness was borderline acceptable 
The bathroom was ok with cheap Wilko soaps and Shower gel available 
Worst thing was the worlds most noisy plumbing system that if any occupants used created a right noise enough to wake us up
Breakfast was a disorganised shambles and again fell short of what we expected 
Left sat for ages without a drink then we were served 5 mins apart !!!
Rubber sausage undercooked bacon and toast that was soft 
Definitely a village to re visit but I’d prefer a tent in winter over this tired looking accommodation
