this hotel is a bit tired but in a beautiful setting. 

the manager of this hotel is in the wrong job ! Peter is not a helpful person he is quite possibly the most vile hotel manager i have ever come across.

BEYOND TERRIBLE, if we could give zero stars we would.
’Sea-view rooms in an elegant Victorian-era, Christian property with dining & leisure amenities‘’ is what we were sold. We would say more, run down, dated and dirty with no leisure facilities!!
We were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and my birthday- two special occasions on our calendar and chose Treyloyan Manor for our two night trip.
TWICE my husband had requested a sea facing, upgraded room. We pulled up at the hotel after a 4.5 hour drive to find we had a car park facing, FAMILY room which was mouldy and dated. Upon talking to reception about why we weren’t upgraded, we were told there were no notes to suggest this (something the manager then admitted to receiving) and basically to suck it up and wait for the duty manager the next day. We had a very unpleasant first night feeling pretty upset and annoyed and the next day met with a very condescending and rude manager who was neither apologetic nor helpful and basically said ‘well the hotel is full so tough.’
We decided it was just too awful to waste any more time there after crying all morning on my birthday so we left and forked out hundreds more pounds to move to a beautiful, clean, posh hotel down the road and make the most of the time we had left in Cornwall.
We were genuinely shocked at how expensive the Treyloyan Manor is considering just how outdated and gross the place is. It’s like being in a time warp!!
Absolutely disgusted with the ‘service’ we were provided with, the filthy room (mouldy windows, curtains hanging off, rubbish outside the window, scratched pine furniture, hairs in bath) and would NEVER, EVER stay here again. 
Do yourself a favour, avoid at all costs and go to a much better hotel/spa down the road (Harbour Hotel) which was simply beautiful with breathtaking views.
The Treyloyan needs pulling down immediately.

DISGUSTING from start to finish.

The hotel itself from the outside is beautiful and in a great location and the staff were very attentive at breakfast time, that’s all the good I can say about it. The room itself was something else. Extremely basic, black mould in the bathroom, the bathroom door wouldn’t open/close properly, absolutely freezing but this is probably down to the fact it was single glazed and the window wouldn’t shut! Don’t waste your money on this place and go to premier inn for half the price! Photos are very misleading!

From the outside, the hotel was beautiful to look at, with plenty of parking, and a short 15 minute walk into the centre of St. Ives. The staff were also very friendly. 

The breakfast was ok, there were two options; hot food which you had to order and they would bring it out, or a buffet which consisted of cereal, bread for you to toast yourself, and a small selection of fruit and yoghurt. If you asked for it, there were gluten free options for toast and some dairy alternatives (oat and soya milk).

The interior of the hotel was very dated and could have done with a hoover; there were spider webs in corners of rooms including the dining room. The room we stayed in was a double on the first floor, the bathroom was nice and we had a nice sea view, however it could have done with a dust behind bed-side tables etc. The Wi-Fi connection was pretty much non-existent from the room. The walls were also very thin; we could hear the TV and conversations from the room next to us. In the room there were tea-making facilities, complimentary biscuits, a hair dyer, and a TV with Freeview.

All in all I would say this hotel was very expensive for what you got and probably wouldn't stay again if I go back to St. Ives.

Stay was OK

This hotel doesn’t quite live up to the price tag in terms of the rooms or breakfast. Some modernisation is needed throughout. However our room was clean and tidy and the grounds are stunning. The main selling point is the friendliness of the staff. They are lovely. The view from the room also did not disappoint..

Lovely staff

The building is beautiful but the inside is dreadful. Very tired and run down. We booked a triple room with sea view, on paper and in their photos it looked amazing but they are very misleading photos (!) our room was in the attic, it had doors to the eaves that had tape around them that was old and dirty, it was meant to keep the doors shut but didn’t work. We arrived to a plumber fixing the toilet, this didn’t work very well the whole time we were there, I asked if we could move rooms as soon as we arrived but they said they didn’t have another room available. Unfortunately they can get away with this as I searched for alternative accommodation but no vacancies anywhere.  Breakfast is a shambles, you are shown your seat and then left for ages, staff are friendly but just not organised.

Tired and run down

I stayed here the last weekend in august 2021 having paid £520 for two nights. We arrived to a dirty, run down hotel , our “deluxe” bedroom had a cracked window pane and what’s worse we pulled back the bedsheets to find BED BUGS on the bed. First time in Cornwall and shall be the last.

Beautiful well kept grounds and a lovely clean hotel.  The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.  Breakfast was lovely.  The hotel was very clean.  The only small issue was the distancee to St Ives.  It said on the details 10 - 15 mins wallk into town, which for most people would be a run!

We were looking forward to our two-day stay in Treloyhan Manor in beautiful Carbis Bay, it seemed an ideal place for a getaway in these strange times. The location was indeed perfect, just around the corner from St Ives, one of our favourite holiday destinations, and the hotel certainly looked impressive as we drove up. Unfortunately the welcome was less than perfect. On entering our room it was immediately apparent that it hadn't been cleaned: there was grass, dirt and discarded tea-bag packets on the carpet and, on closer inspection, hairs in the bedsheets. When we tried to have this sorted, the lady on reception looked lost and said she couldn't do anything until later on  -  could we go out for a while until the room had been cleaned? We had just driven for 4 1/2 hours and were hoping to freshen up and relax for a while but instead had to walk into St Ives to find an evening meal. When we returned we found the room had finally been cleaned.
Otherwise the hotel was fine, if in need of some general care and attention, and the service improved the next day when the shifts changed. Our breakfasts were excellent and the room itself, when cleaned, was comfortable if small. It seems that Treloyhan Manor would be a lovely place to stay if upgraded. 

A shadow of former days

After our flight from Penzance to the Isles of Scilly was postponed due to bad weather we had to find accommodation for the night.  We booked a room online at the Treloyan Manor Hotel at £230, not an insignificant amount for an unexpected cost.  Upon arrival the hotel looked impressive from the outside, a magnificent house set in beautiful grounds. The inside was a very different story.  The public areas are run-down and dingy.  Our room was on the top floor with no lift, it contained tired furniture with stained upholstery and peeling wallpaper. The bathroom was awful with mould, rusty screws protruding from the wall, a pathetically weak shower and cracked flooring. There was no fresh fruit at breakfast but tinned strawberries, tinned peaches and the cheapest catering quality jam.   The only positive I can muster about this hotel is that the staff were very helpful.  At £230 a night  it represented a terrible deal and I will never, never darken it’s doors again.
