Charming establishment with a plenty of old English charm. The restaurant was nice and the pizzas have always been good. The staff was friendly and many quick with a smile. I've been here before and will definitely consider for my next trip to Tenterden.

Lovely place to stay very friendly staff and great Breakfast. Room was very nice and comfortable with lovely biscuits and tea and coffee available.
There was a great choice for breakfast.        
Parking was available at the back of the hotel. 
Bed was comfortable.

Excellent place to stay

We stayed at the White Lion for a night when visiting Chapel Down vineyard.
We had a suite which was clean, spacious, and full of character with a very comfortable bed.
Service throughout our stay was excellent. Staff were  friendly and accommodating. 
Food, both dinner and breakfast, was great.
We would definitely recommend the White Lion particularly paired with a visit to Chapel Down vineyard.


Full of charm and character

Friendly staff in a well run hotel with boutique style rooms and plenty of parking. We stayed for two nights and ate in the restaurant both nights. Great pizza one night and then from the a la carte. On both occasions the food exceeded our expectations which increasingly does not happen. The room was quirky in a good way with a comfortable bed and good facilities. The staff were all very helpful. We would recommend staying here.

A fantastic place for a short break.

Really enjoyed our one stay, the pub has a great ambience, friendly locals and staff made us very welcome. We had a meal in the restaurant, great food, plenty of choice, and the service was excellent. Our room for 2 was good size,clean pleasantly furnishings and the king size bed very comfortable. The bathroom could do  with a minor makeover and both the shower and bath worked well with adequate water and pressure. There were four of us staying for one night and the breakfast was excellent, no fruit, but a full menu of various poached egg dishes, English breakfast, fish and vegetarian options, all served politely and efficiently. We will definitely be staying there again.

Great place to stay and eat

Stayed just the one night and good large room, friendly staff and nice pub food. Parking is at the rear through a narrow entrance. We booked directly on their website as they offer a Sunday special stay with food allowance for dinner. Nice little town with several good restaurants.

Good location in town,parking and comfortable rooms

Friendly efficient staff.  Room was fairly spacious and had a lovely comfortable bed.  We had an evening meal in the pub and it was excellent.  The car parking is really good.  The only negative thing I have to say was that for the price, I though a continental breakfast could have been provided and that is why have only given 4 stars.

A very comfortable stay.

Having booked an evening meal on the KESR we decided to stay at the White Lion for a couple of nights due to its location, and previous good reviews.
Prior to us checking in on the Friday we received a courtesy call a couple of days earlier giving us the heads up that a band would be playing at the pub on the Saturday night.
We arrived at the hotel early, but this wasn't an issue and we were able to use their car park until our room was ready. The room we stayed in was a 'comfy' room, and was situated at the side of the pub. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean, with everything we needed. The only thing I would mention is that the weather was very warm for the duration of our stay, which meant the room was very warm, even with a fan constantly on.
The food and service was superb, and ALL the staff were friendly, attentive and professional - Thank You for making our stay so enjoyable.
I would definitely recommend staying at the White Lion, and wouldn't hesitate in staying there again.

Gorgeous, comfortable rooms with beautiful decor. Situated on Tenterton High street, walking distance from all amenties. The food was particularly good, expecially breakfast. We will return whenever we are back in the area. 

Comfortable and stylish with amazing food.

We stayed here for two nights. Like many other people we were visiting the Chapel Down winery.
The staff were really friendly and helpful. Food was great, lovely pizzas and a good breakfast.
Unfortunately the only thing that let it down was the lack of air conditioning in the room. We stayed during the heatwave and really struggled to get some sleep. A fan was supplied but didn’t really help.
The location on the high street is great, with plenty of small shops and restaurants easily accessible.
