Grim. Grimy. Dingy. Badly cooked food. Unfriendly landlord. A 'locals only' place. Bampton full of dog poo too literally everywhere, on the pavements, in the churchyard, on the graves. All round grim. Did not enjoy, would not return. ....

Stayed there for 3 nights the other week.
Friendly landlord/owner, lovely room and possibly the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in.
Breakfast was filling and lovely.
And we got to meet a local legend, Denzil the cat 🙂
Highly recommended.

Lovely place to stay

Lovely warm welcome in this quaint country pub. Extremely spacious suite of rooms for our family of 2 adults and 3 older children. Very clean and well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Kettle to make hot drinks, plenty of teas, coffees, milk sugar and hot chocolates all laid out perfectly. Tv and good selection of dvds in children’s room, bedside shelves and lamps for them too. Beautiful large bathroom with separate shower and huge deep bath. All spotlessly clean and plenty of towels. Really quiet and peaceful. Delicious freshly cooked breakfast with a good selection of drinks. A great little place to stay and so nice to be able to have all 5 of us together as most places only cater for a family of 4. 

Lovely Overnight Stay with Fabulous Breakfast

We were there for one night, me and my husband. The welcome was friendly, the quality of the room and bathroom decent, but not at 3 star level. Breakfast was good quality, but you have to opt for cooked breakfast "OR" cereals and toasts, which we found a bit awkward. Typically you can have them both at most B&Bs.

Do not expect a 3 star B&B

Beware no check in until 6 pm.  Host was aware we were there waiting from 2.30 pm.   Very disappointing . Room was fine, then unable to provide meal as no chef . Local hotel booked out but  cooked takeaway for us.  Beware when you plan to stay at a town. We were 8 miles away and under town address not Bampton

The Quarrymans Rest is a lovely village pub, we had the pleasure of staying here in August, 5 stayed, 2 adults and 3 children , we stayed in the family room and it was very spacious, the owners were very friendly and helpful as were the locals, great breakfast in the morning, would defiantly stay again

We wanted to stay in a dog friendly pub for a couple of nights near Tiverton. The Quarryman’s Rest proved to be an excellent and very reasonably priced choice. Father and son worked well together with attentive service, friendly locals, comfortable room and excellent uncomplicated food. The layout of the pub is clearly very old and a bit quirky but our room was exceedingly quiet. Parking is available but access interestingly tight! Would gladly stay again on one of our jaunts to the area!

Ticked all the boxes!

Popped in, after driving by on my way home many times and had a great eveing. The bar meal I had was propper pub grub, tasty, filling and not ridiculously priced. Got talking to a few of the regulars and was made to feel really welcome. Definately worth a visit, nice to see a proper pub, and in a lovely village.

Great evening

We brought my mother and step father here for a meal on a Friday night. The food is exactly what you want from a country pub, we had spicy crab bake, seafood platter, steak and ale crumble and vegetarian lasagne. All of it was cook to perfection, really tasty and extremely good value. The landlord was very friendly and attentive. The beer was very well kept with a good selection. 
All in all I would highly recommend this pub and will definitely be visiting again. 



Great pub with lovely food

Shockingly poor ham and cheese sandwiches.  The only taste was margarine and very salty ham.  Tired 
salad garnish. Mustard not dispensed so crumbs from all previous users.  Staff moved at snails pace and quite miserable.  Local resident - wont be taking visitors here again!
