What can I say!!! 

Really shocked this morning after a weekend staying at the cottages with family to find my brother in law who booked the accommodation has received very petty complaints from the owners! 

Let’s start with the accommodation itself. As alluded to in other reviews (screen shots below) the house and cottages are tired looking in parts, especially the house, the rug and carpets are worn. 

The complex of accommodation is right next to a major A road, which is very busy. This was particularly noticeable during the evening when all windows had to be shut due to traffic noise ( far from the country retreat we were expecting). There is a front gate that can be closed but due to the gate being 5 feet from the main road I would not call this accommodation child or dog friendly. 

We had four families staying during the weekend, two of which with children ages from 7 to 2 years old. Each family had a car, this clearly agitated the owners as we were asked to move vehicles and reminded they had to go to work in the morning. 

We felt ‘watched’ all weekend. A random person knocked on the door asking for the owners, apparently a friend (a friend who didn’t know what cottage they lived in, strange!) blatantly snooping. 

Their complaint was we left a nappy in one of the cottage bins, we left the bath full and there was pen marks on the carpet and walls. 

I am very frustrated by this feedback especially as we cleaned the accommodation before we left, the main house down stairs was hoovered, all bins emptied and left in good order. If there was pen on the carpet then it must have been minute as I checked this before leaving. I could understand if the rug and carpet were new or in good order but the fact it’s not I find this very antagonistic. 

The bathroom upstairs is very nice with new fittings, however not overly practical as it took me and my husband 10 minutes to try and work out how to drain the bath, in the end we left the 5 inches of water in the bath rather than brake anything but this was obviously ‘filthy’ and offensive to the owners.  The same as the one nappy left in the cottage bin, hopefully the £1000 we paid for one weekend covered the cost and distress of removing one nappy from a bin?

We left a bin bag outside as we couldn’t find a black bin anywhere, the following morning it had been opened (animals), we then picked it up and re-bagged it. 

My family and I go away every Christmas and we have never received any negative feedback or been called filthy! I am happy to receive ‘just’ criticism but this, I am genuinely taken back.

We felt watched and uncomfortable all weekend. If your planning a family get away then this should be avoided.

Horrible owners!!

I cannot fault this property from start to finish! I booked for a hen party of 10 of us after staying previously at a hen party and being so impressed with it! Dave and Wayne were fantastic, and were contactable if needed, we were welcomed very warmly!! We had a hot tub hired to the property with no problem and was fantastic on the patio with tables and chairs next to it! The garden is huggeeee and has a tennis court at the end! I can imagine it's a fantastic place to come with children as it's well shut off from the road, and you feel very secluded from anyone else. The rooms are great! And everybody slept very comfortably! And our bride lost her mind when she saw the ensuite in the biggest bedroom upstairs which has a double and two twins - The kitchen is perfect for cooking BIG! There's lots of space, appliances pans ect and the added bonus of a connecting large utility room for space which also has a bathroom coming off that!! The dining area in the conservatory is great! And turns into a warm twinkling cave at night with its lamp and fairy lights and rustic farmhouse feel! I have comfortably sat with 12 around this table but there is defiantly room for more! there is also an amazing stereo with iPhone dock in there which was perfect for our hot tub drinks!!! The living space is also a fab space with big sofas and a gorg fire place ! ( again loved the fairy lights in here!) Location was fab it's on a working farm so you hear the cows chatting away which just adds to its charm, other than the cows there are no neighbours so you really feel like it's yours!! As the house and cottages surround the big drive way area - everyone felt very safe and fitted the 5 cars we turned up in. The property is about a 5 min drive to supermarkets we click and collected to the asda there and worked really well! we drove into bath easily only 8 miles so didn't take long for our activities and went back into Bath for our night out by limo and came back about 2am for £40 for 7 seater. The cottages connecting are Also a great space with their own kitchen living room and dining room with skylight in Hazel!- and is lovely space which slept 4! I really can't rave about Romsey Oak farm enough!! It's got charm its rustic, clean and homely. And superb value for money - with the added bonus of a well communicated easy transaction with fantastic friendly and hosts who were amazing and helpful all the way through! Would definitely stay again!!!

PERFECT for our Hen Party!

Started with great communication through emails & continued throughout our stay. Both Dave & Wayne are lovely & could not do enough.

The cottage was so much nicer than I expected plus had everything we needed - from toilet rolls to washing up liquid. It was clean, well stocked, warm, comfortable & perfect for our needs. 

This was a mini break for myself (a single mum) & two children (11 & 13) purely to visit Longleat. Longleat was an easy drive - 10-15 minutes away & well sign posted. I was concerned about local amenities for groceries etc but this was a straight forward drive - 5-7 minutes away was the gorgeous local town of Bradford on Avon, our one regret was not leaving enough time to explore. 

The highlight was our cows. This really is a farm, although unless you go around the back you would not know it. We discovered a gorgeous herd of friendly cows yards from our cottage. 

So we slept well, we had everything we needed, the owners were on hand if needed, but discreet enough to leave you to it. I couldn't thank them enough for a perfect break. 

We will DEFINITELY return ( a good 3.5 hour drive from home) next year for another break & cannot recommend this enough.

An absolute gem of a find - Wonderful place

We have just come back from a short break at Romsey Cottages. We stayed in Hazel Cottage. The cottage was bright and clean. Rooms were all of a nice size. Added bonus of a dining room so we could all sit down comfortably to eat together. 
Dave could not be more welcoming, polite or helpful. 
My sons enjoyed playing tennis in the morning. 
Great location to go out and explore the surrounding areas. 
We are going back in June!

Fantastic short break

We met as a family group at Romsey Oak using the the farmhouse as a our main house and one of the cottages for extra beds. The space in the house was ideal for us with plenty of room to be together as well as quiet corners. The bedrooms were clean and there was plenty of hot water. A nice sized garden with a tennis court was great. Communication with the hosts was good. However, the house was tired around the edges and the cottage of a very basic quality. The carpets would benefit from a good clean and broken/damaged/stained things should be repaired or replaced to make this the venue it clearly once was. The addition of WiFi and towels as part of the booking costs would also be welcome.

I am unable to comment on the actual accommodation, but the booking process is awful.Booked through booking.com, but had to cancel few days after which was within the terms and conditions of the site> Free cancellation it even promotes. I was then told by the owners that they had taken the full amount of the booking and would only refund part of it as they take a £50 cancellation fee?? I am still awaiting my money back as to date not a penny of the £120 has been returned. I am not best pleased with the proprietors of this establishment.

It is a hotel located in the English countryside where we only stayed for one night, and we were well attended.The place is very clean, spacious, with carriages and a beautiful tennis court that we use without any problems.
