We chose Walton-on-Thames Travelodge as it is in a good position opposite the mainline train station to London Waterloo. We would normally stay at Woking Central but as there were engineering works on the line this was a better option for us. The building itself and the rooms are all in need of some updating decor wise and look a little un-loved. Reception is manned 24 hours and the hotel is right next to a pub which is also useful. The room itself was warm and clean. We were given a key rather than the usual Keycard. We also got the Twin room we had booked which was good. We would prefer to stay at Woking as this has recently had a refurbishment and is a purpose built Travelodge and is therefore a better standard generally. This could be a very good Travelodge if it had redecoration both in the rooms and the communal areas.

Walls very thin so room very noisy.Reception area and room unclean. Hotel shabby and looks neglected. No breakfast on site. Room supplies for two overnight were only 2 milk jiggers  and powdered coffee was undrinkable. Pub next door closed until
11am. No staff recommendations of where to go for breakfast. Only plus was easy parking. Would not return. 

New year’s eve stay

The location is good, near public transport (bus stops and train station) with large free car park. Ashley Arms pub is nice abd although we we're aware it was adjoined to the hotel we were under the impression the pub would close by 12 latest.
The room (202) was directly above the kitchen. The kitchen staff had the music on very loud, louder than the music in Ashley Arms bar (we walked past the kitchen during the evening and u could hear it through the door). We mentioned this to the receptionist who assured us this would stop after 10pm (this was thr Friday night). She did come up to listen through our room , u could hear it mostly through the bathroom but in bed u could hear it through the pillows).
She did ask of we wanted we could change rooms but as they did stop at 10pm we thought it was ok to stay.
However on the Saturday the kitchen staff had the music on till 12 (we were unaware as we were in the bar) but when we went to go bed we realised the music continued so loud we could hear it in the bedroom itself  at 12.40 it was still going on so I had to get dressed and walk down to reception,  a young man who was oblivious to the noise as he was wearing headphones ! He laughed when I complained and said it's just the staff winding down after their shift but as there was 40 mins ago I was furious as I has paid for a good night's sleep.

For a budget hotel, the standard and size the room and bathroom was excellent, although the bathroom was a bit dated
 Generally the room was clean and reception staff very helpful, DOWNSIDE WAS DOGS BARKING, dogs should not been in hotel rooms.

Well located for the pub next door and the train station opposite.
However the toilet seat was loose and the bathroom in general was looking tired. During the night there seem to be a disagreement out in the car park which kept me awake.

Convenient

The service was polite and respectful, and the hotel room was immaculate with a really comfortable bed. Being away for a few days was just the most wonderful experience, and the hotel itself wasn't too noisy and seemed tranquil. A big thank you to Miss Naila and the team for being so helpful, friendly and attentive, nothing is too much for them

Stayed one night. Lovely, spotless, cosy, and plenty of hot water. Keep the breakfast container alone. Personally, I believe it to be fraudulent. I was visiting Sandown Racetrack with a friend to see an exhibition. A taxi ride cost £12 total. Excellent pub for an evening dinner right next door., especially Miss Naila, She went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable.

One of the most helpful night receptionists is Ms Naila. I found her to be quite helpful and pleasant to deal with. She went above and beyond to make sure the visit was enjoyable.

Don’t stay here if you actually want to sleep! There is no soundproofing so you may as well sleep with your neighbour as it’s like they are in your room! A very dated hotel. It would have been tolerable if it had been quiet once you shut the door.
