Awful. Soleless place, didn’t do food which is contrary to what it advertises. Only thing going for it was it’s close to the town. Place appeared to be occupied by many people waiting to be housed. Not cheap either. If I hadn’t paid as soon as we arrived I would have left immediately

Worst place I have ever stayed

Worse experience ever. My husband picked this as a place to stay so we would have easy access to city centre. We arrived from the US via Manchester then drove down. I was hungry and exhausted upon arrival. Did find a Wetherspoons nearby for a meal then to the room to rest. It was freezing. We were told the radiator was on a timer to turn on at 5. I finally warmed up during the night and looked forward to a nice breakfast before we continued our journey. Upon waking in the morning we headed to the pub to eat. Lobby was dark and locked up tight. Knocked on door but no answer. So much for breakfast. Would have been nice to have been told that upon check in.  Bed was not comfortable but I was so tired I didn’t care. Very modest room. Would not stay there again.

B&B without the B

Stayed for two nights great location for town centre but that’s all. Shower head leaking then fell off Very basic accommodation. If you go try to get a room downstairs as the stair are steep metal and very slippery with very little lighting.  Very dangerous. Certainly didn’t fancy breakfast there.  Wash basin in bedroom and kettle didn’t fit under tap to fill up.

Not good at all

Absolute joke of a place. Set up to make money out of Warwick Castle visitors with zero consideration for guests. 

Broken door which couldn’t be secured. With my child sleeping next to the door I had to use furniture to barricade it to secure it. 

Bright security lights shining onto the room ALL NIGHT! 

We arrived about 3:30pm to be told the room wasn’t ready (check in was from 3:00pm). No apology given and we were told to wait in the bar. 

Given the room key after they’d charged me the full £90 for a nights stay. If I’d seen the room first I may have thought twice! 
The room was situated on the ground floor right next to the car park / smoking area which meant we couldn’t leave windows open unless we wanted to breath in the smoke from the 10 - 15 people sat right outside the door. 

We left the room at 5:30pm after showering and headed out to the Dragon Slayer show at Warwick Castle. 
Pub is actually well situated for this as it’s a 10 min walk up the road. 

When we returned at 10:30pm the pub was closed and there were some extremely bright security lights in the car park which lit up the area right next to our room. We didn’t think anything of this until we got inside the room and realised the lights shone straight through the window. The curtains in the room were paper thin (at best) so it was like trying to sleep in the middle of the daytime with no curtains! 
The picture in my review was taken at 11:30pm and it stayed like that ALL NIGHT. 

The door to the room wasn’t secure and could easily be pulled or pushed open when locked. In a family room with my 7 year old sleeping near the door this was a major worry. I had to move furniture to prop against the door to secure it shut. 

I raised these issues with the pub before writing this review but basically got accused of lying and was told no one else had ever complained. 
Perhaps Stevie Wonder slept in the room before us because unless you’re blind you’d have a hard job in not being affected by the light. 

The frustrating thing is the rooms could be lovely if some blackout curtains were fitted and some money was spent fixing the door and smartening up the interior of the room and the area outside.

AVOID - unless you’re really really desperate

We stayed here 1 night as were attending a show at the castle

Probably around £40 cheaper then town hotels

We arrived around 11am and we parked in the car park however the pub itself was closed and everydoor shut .no signs as what to do but we saw a sign about clamping and that worried us ,so we tried several times ringing but no answer at all , so we ended up emailing them to let them know we'd parked there . Check in was 3pm but we wanted to make the most of the day as only had 24 hrs 

We went off exploring and returned around 3.30pm the pub was open and we got a drink and checked in ,friendly enough owners and the pub was old but quaint ,unfortunately one corner had all the laundry in from the rooms ,not a good look really , we were took to the room and he said the door sticks so give it a good shove 😅
Upon first impression the room seemed OK, had a small fusty smell but typical off a old building, nice big bed and black furniture, seemed clean but that soon quickly diminished, 
The bathroom 😖 had toilet paper in the bowel ,
The shower had filthy grouting and the ceiling was a black colour , 
Sink next to bed in main room , upon opening the closet the smell hit you in the face damp fusty ,you wouldn't put your clothes in there if staying longer ,this was clearly the smell emanating into the room .

Was shocked to see the bed had a stained pillowcase on as did the duvet ,leading me to believe it had not been changed since the previous guests 😳,  put me off sleeping in it really

We only had a hour to change before the show so we went to close the window they had opened but to my shock the main handle was snapped in two ,the only way i could shut it was to lodge it shut with the sill handle ,not good for security though 
Needless to say we didn't leave anything in the room .

Notified the owner about it .

Breakfast was a additional £7.99 Needless to say we declined after what we had seen .

Quiet nights sleep but at 7am the bumping and banging from upstairs awoke us as it sounded like a herd of elephant had come through,  

This place needs a serious refurbishment and the owners need to understand that changing the bedding needs to happen every guest that is in ,

A Shame really as could be so much nicer 
We got the impression it was like a hostel with several people seemingly staying there permanently.

Not the worst we stayed in but definitely needs improvement

The best thing about this grotty place is its location. 5 mins to the market square.  Room horrible, tiled floor in bedroom, flimsy and dirty curtains, filthy shower.

The fag ends littering the entrance and the smell of stale beer should have been a warning.

We left early.

Friendly staff on arrival. Checked in with no issues, rooms were clean and spacious, beds comfy, small beer garden area with lots of chairs and tables, good selection of drinks at the bar. Had a great stay overall.

Stayed after a wedding at Warwick Castle

To be honest it's a mixed bag! The downsides are: thin curtains with an incredibly wonky rail, two tiny tea cups and very few tea bags, no biscuits. No hooks in bathroom, only one chair (to be fair it was a nice swivel one though), no rugs by the beds, very thin duvets. The kettle could not be filled directly as there was not enough room between sink and tap. 
The upsides are: spotlessly clean, freshly decorated, nice staff generally (although the initial encounter was by a woman who wouldn't know a smile if it bit her), fantastic location very close to the town centre, free parking, fluffy towels, secure room.  Our toddler loved the 2 tiny goldfish in the bar. 
Also, the town itself is gorgeous, we were lucky enough to be there on a Saturday and the market is wonderful. There are lots of independent shops, great pubs, a huge park with a glorious children's playground. mini and crazy golf and a boating lake with pedaloes, canoes and paddleboards. The castle is splendid too of course! 
So, we would definitely stay in the Black Horse again but would take a couple of normal sized mugs and a few more tea bags. The other stuff was just quite funny!!

Family stay with toddler

This stay was to meet up with family, we were accommodated in the ground floor rooms, just off the car park, leading into a small beer garden. This was perfect for us as it meant we could put our little one to bed and sit outside enjoying the nice weather,  knowing we would hear him.

Breakfast was great value and very tasty, and the staff could not do enough to ensure our stay was a pleasant one. They succeeded. 

The rooms were clean and tidy, and the hotel was in an amazing location for the centre. 

We would stay here again when we next visit Warwick.

Family stay with 11 month old.

We stayed here recently for 1 night.
We found  the room very clean but there was a very strong sewage smell and was quite strong. The beds were very uncomfortable and lumpy, in fact i slept only for a couple of hours, there was 1 flat old pillow and 1 hard pillow, strong smell of beer was evident. The curtains were extremely thin, let the light from the street light through fully. 
Refreshment tray only had 1 tea bag and the cups were tiny canteen, hardly enough for a cup of tea. 
We tried to see the manager on check out but was not available, we spoke to a lady who took our key and explained our complaint, she said  she would pass on the information, i then emailed the accommodations website through the contact tab but still no response.  
No i would not recommend this B&B 
Very poor for Warwick and disappointing lack of response from owner/manager.
