A once grand hotel in need of severe upgrading. The carpet was wrinkles and stained all over the building. Wi-Fi was non existent outside the lobby area and the food wasn’t great. Staff did their best to help but you could tell, they were very short staffed. Given that this is peak tourist season in Woodhall Spa and the hotel wasn’t anywhere near full tells its own story. A bit of TLC would see this hotel attract a lot more visitors.

A bit of a let down.

In needs of serious refurbishment. Turned up to an argument between chef and front of house, all whilst chef was having a face time conversation on his mobile. Stated Gluten Free on the booking, wife is coeliac, no bread for breakfast, and hardly any other options. Restaurant, well it looks like they've been to a sale and bought a load of cheap plastic chairs. 
Front of the building haw open broken windows, lots of decrepit areas in the grounds. Rooms need a serious upgrade, windows won't open as they've been painted shut. Won't be coming back. 

Won't be coming back

Disappointing to say the least. Room with bath specifically requested when making phone direct booking; first room (138) had just shower. Second room (104)  although having a bath, it only filled to low level before water lost as plug hole not tightened up under the bath; not able to have a bath basically.  Bathroom original windows had no glass which we discovered after opening the sliding frosted panels added to try to get rid of the musty smell in the bed/bathroom; in fact the hotel generally had this bad smell. Needless to say we didn’t bother with the breakfast (ate and paid for in the village instead) as could imagine what that might be like! It’s a shame that payment had been demanded on arrival instead of check out as is usual in other establishments - can probably see why now!! Will not be returning after this awful experience. 

Disappointing 

We went for the 1940’s weekend at Woodhall Spa. Everything about the hotel was top notch.
The staff were very friendly and helpful; the food was excellent, and the accommodation had everything we wanted. Excellent!!

A weekend at the Golf Hotel.

Stayed 1 night while on business in the area, staff are fantastic, friendly and willing to spend time discussing whatever you want.
Room was a good size, very clean and best night sleep ive had in a while.
Food was honest, tastefull and a good price.
Will definitely be returning when next in the area.

Good honest hotel

I now know why it was the only hotel left with availability in Woodhall. Not the cleanest place, no heating in bathroom Had to ask for everything from toilet roll to bread. Breakfast was cold with poor service. On our return on Saturday night the man on reception sat picking his nose obviously thought no one could see him. Not a good experience at all especially for £125 a night 

Not Good

I arrived very late at night (1am) and there was a friendly chap on reception who sat and chilled with me for a while which was appreciated. Getting to the room was a bit of a pain because it’s all stairs, but once I was in it was really well turned out (see pic). 
Pros: 
Comfy bed and pillows (and I’m picky).
Nicely decorated. 
Spacious. 
Blackout curtains. 
Powerful shower.
Friendly staff.
Good selection of tea and coffee in room. 
Very clean. 
Contemporary decor throughout. 
Breakfast was a buffet, and although not the best, it was ok. Food was a little dried out and no fresh eggs.

Cons:
No USB chargers in the rooms. 
Laminated signs in room explaining about shower operation. 
The gardens could do with some landscaping. 
Towels on the bed rather than in the bathroom. 
The windows were a bit manly and could do with an overhaul. 

But I’d stay there again. 
Plug hole was very slow draining.

Nice hotel with a few revisions

Stayed here second night if three day golf trip. The place looks a bit tired on the outside. Lots of flaking paint and untreated window frames. Once inside it was completely different and was at odds with the exterior. It was too modern with a massive tv in the bar. It obviously cost a fair amount to renovate but they missed a trick to restore in keeping with a Victorian spa hotel. Had a definite Premier Inn feel to it. We ate out so only had breakfast and it was nice but the cafe furniture was very basic. Nice staff but oddly put GB News on in the foyer which considering it is a right wing news channel might be a little insensitive.

Not Golf related

to be honest this place is a bit pricy , but was a necessity since husband playing in important golf match, its almost trapped in a 1980s time warp and reminds me of a slightly more upmarket travel lodge, However, there are some plus points, the bed was huge and very comfy, fan in room and plenty of hot water, but the main plus is the lady on reception, ( very sorry i didnt get her name), tall scottish lady, who goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and looked after. She was defo worth a special welcome and is a credit to the place, brought me drinks and sandwiches up to the room personally and went out of her way to sort out a room before the check in time, knowing that we were pressed for time, and that I was tired from the rush, 10/10 lovely lady.

like 1986 revisited

This lovely hotel is like a home from home for us. 

We stayed for the 1940's weekend and the whole town was heaving. Even then, the people who worked there and the owners all pulled together and the atmosphere was happy and friendly.

We had a super time and we are already plotting our next stay there.
