TripAdvisor clearly states they have a pool.  And a breakfast.  We showed up after driving 20 hours in 2 days and are told the pool is closed (they cemented it in??  WTH).   So at least we could have breakfast in the am and we’re promptly told they have coffee.  Renovations prevent them from doing breakfast.  WTH—-I am a patient person but this place infuriated me.   I asked the manager of the hotel this morning where do they have the blow dryer in the bathroom — simple request. He said it’s tucked up under the sink. It was NOT.  I left with wet dripping hair.  No breakfast. No morning swim.  I see the positive in people but we should be warned before.  I asked WHY the pool was cemented in. He states they closed it.  I said this website plainly states there’s a pool.  He said HE MANAGES their website and he has no pool listed and wanted to know WHAT WEBSITE shows they have a pool.  I have an 8 hour drive ahead of me and I was too tired to argue.  Clean hotel — pathetic service and amenities.   NEVER AGAIN. 

PATHETIC

Will not stay at this place ever again and I'd advise everyone against them. Regardless of how the stay was, there was a billing miscommunication issue and instead of the manager being professional and keeping with the "customer is always right" mindset, this MF was very rude and when demanded he give partial refund, he coldly said no. I told him is that how he does business and he smart ass replied " that's exactly how I do business" and he even said "F you" back to me. Even if a customer yells obscenities at you, as a manager you're supposed to be professional regardless.... this guy needs to be fired!

Unacceptable lack of professionalism by management

I didn’t get in my room until 2 o’clock had to make 3 room changes found blood and a booger on my sheets. The place isn’t even put together yet it’s like a warehouse also my fire alarm wasn’t even put up in my room so if there was a fire at night I would have been dead and after I complained about all that I couldn’t even get a refund.

Needed place to sleep for the night while traveling. When arrrived the lobby and whole first floor was a disaster with remodeling- stuff everywhere. But when we got to the room it was very clean and we couldn’t hear the noise. Beds were comfortable so all was great. Bet it will look great when remodeled

Clean and economical

We booked 2 rooms on a trip going through town and had two rooms booked for when we were passing back through town on our return trip. We cancelled the reservations and booked two rooms at a different hotel when we passed through going home.

The clerk that checked us in initially was extremely rude. She didn’t greet us upon arrival at the check in desk. When we asked a couple of questions she barely responded and 
when she did her tone was rude and abrasive. 

We inquired about the hot breakfast that was mentioned on the site she said doughnuts would be out in the morning and nothing else. 

One room had dirty towels on the closet floor that were found after checking in. An inquiry about vending machines that was listed on the site was met with the response stating there weren’t any. 

The entire place was run down. However, one room was clean.

Sad tired hotel with rude clerk.

We stayed here for ACU Parents weekend.  The property is undergoing renovation, but the problems went deeper than that.  Upon arrival, the room was minimally cleaned, and the ice bucket was covered in food grease.  I went to the front desk and they could not get me a clean ice bucket.  The ice machine on the main floor was out of order.  There were only two pillows in the room and the front desk could not supply more.  Someone dumped food in the only working elevator and it stayed there for hours after we reported it as there was only one staff in the whole hotel (the front desk person).  Lots of maintenance issues neglected.  Breakfast was literally two bins of vending machine food and a home coffee pot with “out of order” signs on the hotel machine.  Management left pro-Trump election stolen propaganda on the lobby tables each morning.  Upon checkout, I was billed to my credit card in spite of prepaying through Hotels.com and desk staff couldn’t do anything about it.  Avoid this place.

Very Poorly Run and Under Resourced

I reserved a room for me and my 12yr old daughter for a softball tournament for 2 nights for the 21st and 22nd. After checking in took the elevator since we was on 3rd floor. Elevator was broke and we got stuck in it..elevator kept going from 1st to 2nd floor without opening door for almost 7 minutes,  door finally opened on 2nd floor which wasn't our floor but we wasn't going to chance getting stuck again. Take the stairs to our floor walk in to get settled before her game that night. Room was clean expect there was clothes still on the closet from previous guests. Rains came in and we decided to check out next morning instead of staying both nights due to games would be canceled anyways. We check out at 9am Saturday morning,  front desk said we had been charged both nights at check in that we she would refund one night stay since we checked out. That was fine. I gave key over and got receipt and left. Then check my account 2 days later and was charged again the fees they credited my card back. Called the hotel to find out why I was double charged so they could correct error. They said my party came back and was in the room. NOW KEEP IN MIND ITS ONLY ME AND MY DAUGHTER THAT STAYED. I was confused and explained there was no way and they must've cleaned the room and rented it out again. They informed me that housekeeping said people was sleeping in the room. I went to the hotel after multiple calls for a manager with no return call. Get there and front desk called General manager to come in and review tape. Manager NEVER called me or came in to review anything so I can prove I left and never came back. Still haven't gotten my credit of $110 back after they charged me for their screw-up. Manager will not take my calls or return them and when I go into hotel to correct the problem I get the run around. My one night stay with my daughter costed me $338.16 This is some bs. Not to mention their back emergency exit is unusable to no door knobs you can't even get into the lobby from the back staircase access for same reason. 
 So if there is a fire TAKE THE FRONT EXIT PEOPLE.

Do not stay here

To begin with we rented a one night stay through trip advisor @ this hotel. We were coming into this town for a country music festival weekend. We decided to arrive a day early & just stay at the same hotel. We got there on a Thursday evening.  I went in to see about staying the extra night. The clerk said yes they have available rooms. I asked him if we could have the same room for both nights so we didn't have to shuffle. He said yes, but Thursday rates were a little  higher than the Friday night rate... it didn't make sense that Thursday would be higher than a weekend night , but he said it would only be $99 + tax. We were paying $89 for the Friday night.  I told him that was fine.  Room looked fine besides a dirty wash cloth that was left strung over the shower curtain rod. Wake up Friday morning to see I have a missed call from the hotel at 1:30am... what the heck.  The voice-mail was left by Taylor & she was wanting to see if we were still keeping our reservation for Friday night.  I call the front desk & told them I was returning a call I received from the hotel at 1:30am to confirm we were staying there on Friday night.  The hotel clerk said he didn't see that we had a reservation.  I told him that's odd because I'm in the hotel in my room while I make this call to him. He asked what room & I gave him our #. He said it was showing that we had checked out last night... the same night we checked in. Then he said last night's clerk had messed up a bunch of reservation & had canceled our Friday night reservation when he checked us in on Thursday night.  He proceeded to tell me they were over booked & he no longer had a room for us. Are you kidding me. Its an event weekend in this town, all hotels were booked full! I had booked months prior & now you are trying to kick us out on the night of our original  booking. Not happening you better fix things.  We got the run around, he tried to dump us off onto a "sister# hotel that is completely run down & had horrible reviews on Trip Advisor. We said not happening, we are here now,  you can call someone who isn't checked in & tell them you don't have a room for them. This hotel is also in the renovation process so their 2 bottom levels have no usable rooms. They were booking only 3rd floor rooms. After wasting hours of our morning trying to frantically figure out what to do, the clerk finally said they were going to let us keep the room but it would not be at the price we reserved it for because our original booking was canceled! We didn't cancel it, your idiot desk clerk did. So instead of the $89 I booked it for through trip advisor, they charged me $103 & instead of the $99 for our Thursday night stay, they charged me $160.99!! This hotel is a joke, they wouldn't compensate us for the hassle & they illegally charged us higher rates than we were quoted. Do not trust this owner, he wouldn't even speak to my husband, he refused to leave his office & discuss the dirty tricks his hotel was playing on guests.

Trust the reviews!

I had an excellent stay, my room was clean and well-appointed. The location was central and within walking distance to plenty of restaurants and shopping, and there was a Wal-mart not far as well. The staff was helpful and friendly and there were plenty of sanitizing stations sprinkled throughout. Would definitely stay at again.

Enjoyed my stay, great location

I’m not sure it’s still a Wingate because the signage has changed, but hotel looks nice enough from the street and lobby.  The man at the desk was very friendly.  

The room furnishings look nice, but carpet had a lot of stains and felt nasty underfoot.    

Toilet handle was broke, so we had to take the lid off and flush it by pulling the lever inside the tank.  Toilet water ran all night.  Exhaust fan was filthy and missing the cover. 

 After 6 hours driving I was looking forward to a hot shower.  The water pressure is HORRIBLE!  I have long hair and it took forever to get the shampoo rinsed out.  I had the faucet turned all the way to hot and the water was lukewarm at best.  By the time I got my hair rinsed, I was absolutely freezing!  

Thin walls.  We could hear the man next door coughing throughout the night.  

Would not recommend.
