This is the motel I always prefer when biketouring/travelling: low price/smaller room/firm bed/quick hot water/microwave/mini-fridge/flat screen TV/ample ice/excellent electricals. It simply is CLASSIC, updated with 21st century consumer needs, particularly free/fast WiFi. I won’t overnight in motels without it. I really appreciated the curtains for keeping out extraneous light, and the outlet that was in the table lamp base is such a great feature for recharging my cell phone! 
The nearby train sounds were not disturbing at all. 
The only downsides were no coffee or brekkie. BUT, that’s the risk of less expensive overnights.       
However, there are many closeby coffee shops/cafes/eateries/etc., which can provide that morning caffeine; I had coffee in a can.
Overall, this motel is one of the best I’ve biked to/from. Knowing that I’d arrive about Sunset, I brought “to-go” food at another closeby restaurant, and it was so nice to recharge my body while watching the latest news/movies/etc. on that easily remote controlled flat-screen. I highly recommend THE CLASSIC INN to all budget minded travellers. It definitely has my coveted “¡Wheel of Approval!”

¡CLASSIC INN MOTEL is simply CLASSIC!

Very rude owner, he said a price first and when we were about to book it he put it up. When I asked why he just said that he would not rent a room to us anymore and to leave his property. He is extremely rude and hostile! Also the place stinks to rotten food when you get into the reception. A place to avoid!

Rude and trying to rip you off

The Classic Inn in Alamogordo is a good place to stay for the budget minded traveler in which category I include myself. My wife and I stayed here for a night in early August 2021 while on vacation and visiting nearby White Sands National Park and the New Mexico Museum of Space History in Alamogordo. This is your typical mom and pop operation probably dating back to the 1950s or 60s. It has pretty much everything you need - a basic but clean and functioning room at a good price. The outside and inside of the property were well maintained. In our room the air conditioner worked well and the bathroom facilities were in good working order. This is one of the least expensive places in Alamogordo, our room coming out to around $50 per night (including tax). The check-in process was simple and the front desk attendant was polite and pleasant. I like the fact that this property takes online reservations at many of the usual travel websites. Makes the reservation process easy but we really didn't need one as there appeared to be plenty of vacancies mid-week. My only complaint is that our room was a bit small and cramped for two people but since we were there for only one night, it was not that big of a deal. Overall, the Classic Inn was perfectly adequate for our needs and we would not hesitate to stay here again.

Good place to stay for the budget minded traveler

Nice comfortable place to stay,room was clean and prices were Great ,well lit parking lot made me feel more safe ,friendly staff ,I would definitely stay here again when We visit White sands national monument 


Cozy place to stay

We should have checked out immediately when the first room they gave us reeked of mold and urine so bad it took your breath away.  The second room was stale, but more or less breathable.  The room was small and spartan, but definately not clean.  My white socks were soiled by the crud in the carpet.  The bathroom would be considered clean compared to 20% of the gas stations, but not at all by hotel standards.  The area was very noisy with heavy traffic all night, but the even louder AC easily drown that noise out.  Even more troubling in a seedy neighborhood, there are no deadbolts on the doors, not even chain locks or electronic locks.  Just a regular door knob with a metal key.  No peephole either.  Definately not a place for a woman traveling alone to spend the night. 
Slept with one eye open until the 2 am gunshots nearby.  Rude housekeeper (owner's wife?) Stood sour faced in the doorway of our room while we were packing up and started cleaning the room before we had all our stuff out, at 8 am!

NEVER AGAIN

It doesn't serve breakfast, the guy at the reception didn't speak too much and the room was really out of date. It was very cheap though: 40 dollars. Arriving late was no problem: reception was locked but the silent guy did open the door

Worst motel we had on this 7300 km roadtrip

Horrible experience! Paid online and had confirmation of payment yet clerk/ owner rudely insisted I hadn’t and charged me again. Last choice of lodging as there was a snowstorm and roads were closing. He wouldn’t let us in the office (freezing cold) made us stand at a very small window after waiting forever for him to even realize we were standing outside. Big neon open sign but door was locked. Tried to be polite and ring the doorbell once/ tried calling the phone number. No response, had to stand outside repeatedly pushing the door bell. The fridge in the room hadn’t been cleaned! Someone else’s crap in it! I’ve stayed in motels before I get that they are not amazing experiences but a dingy room and horrible owner (?). Travelers beware! (There was a huge pile of empty beer and soda cans in there landscaping outside of our room!

Can’t give zero stars 

Very classic place with old fashioned keys, and parking right outside your door.  We stayed for 2 nights to be able to go for our tour up to the Trinity site and to visit White Sands Monument.  The gentleman at checkout was friendly, the room was small but the bed was amazingly comfortable.  The shower was antiquated but was hot and had plenty of pressure.   Bring your own soap and shampoo as what they provide rather dries out your skin.  It was a safe location except for the crazy lady who talked to herself rather loudly and was outside her door every morning.   She was harmless though. It is rather loud outside with loud music playing from somewhere, the train going by frequently and cars racing up the road, but with the air on (which worked great) and the overhead fan it blocked out some of the noise.  Overall if you're looking for luxury, dont stay.  If you're looking for an inexpensive place to lay your head, for the price, I'd say go for it. 

Definitely "classic"

TOO BAD YOU CAN’T GIVE ZERO OR -1  STARS. Reserved through Hotels.com. Must learn to read the bad reviews. Man checking us in spoke little to no English. We wanted to add a night (before we discovered the AIR MATRESS) so we are thankful he didn’t understand us. Yes you read that right, our bed was an AIR MATRESS.  We sat on our Kmart special air mattress and reserved another hotel. When we came back the next morning to check out, a woman, presumably his wife, yelled at me from across the parking lot and was clapping her hands at me. I told her we were checking out and she snapped the key from my hand and walked away. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS HOTEL. IT’S A DUMP!

AIR MATRESS FOR BED

Alamogordo is a good option for sleeping after or before visiting White Sands. This motel is friendly and personalized. It switches chain motels, like motel 6, which all look alike. The interior of the bedrooms and bathroom are a little old but well maintained and with a certain charm. Quiet night, little traffic on the road. No pool, no breakfast. Checkout is supposed to be at 11:00 but the owners were in a hurry and pushed us out, while it was 10:50... You don't have to ask when we leave every 10 minutes between 10:30 and 11:00... aside, good place.
