We have stayed in this hotel for years while visiting family for its convenient location, being pet friendly, and hot breakfast. They have been "renovating" this hotel for years. Renovations mainly consist of new paint, vinyl flooring, and garish LED bulbs. The furniture and fixtures are still the old outdated and worn out original to the Country Inn and Suites. Our shower curtain rod was falling off the wall, and the ceiling had disgusting water stains from water damage. When we checked in, there were visible stains on our unusably broken down pillows; thankfully they were replaced when we complained. Our room (first floor) always smelled slightly of cigarette smoke. This was explained as the outside air intake and couldn't be helped. This was most likely due to the employees smoking next to the exit door which is probably in violation of state law. Apparently, the neighboring room had smokers in it because our bathroom was completely smokey multiple times during our stay. The managers response to this was simply "I don't know anything about that". On top of all the slipping condition of the building, they no longer offer waffles on the breakfast bar, maybe petty, but IMO another downgrade. This was our last stay here...

Not good

Well this property was really clean and updated. The breakfast had more selections and better food than most that serve free breakfast. Conveniently located for us. Easy check in and check out. Comfortable beds and the rooms really clean.

road trip stop

This was by far one of the best stays that I have ever experienced!  We were visiting the Halls of fame in Cleveland and Canton, so it was about an hour either way.  It was also close to Hollywood Casino and the racetrack.  From the minute I walked in, I was greeted by the front desk host. She was so pleasant, and explained about breakfast and apologized that the pool was under renovations.  The rooms were so clean, and it looked like they had been recently renovated. We had a King suite, and it was so spacious with a half wall separating the bedroom from the sitting room.  The bed was super comfortable… I wish I had a pillow like those at home!!  There was a nice variety of breakfast available, and all of the employees that we came across were very pleasant.  Keep up the great work!!!

A WYNning stay!!

(I had to give 1 star but even thats giving this hotel too much credit) This is by far the worst hotel I've stayed at. I'm not one to be very picky about hotels (Super 8, Motel 6 and Red Roof Inn) are staples for me normally and when booking a 1 or 2 star hotel you don't expect luxury. 

However, I do expect a hotel to be as advertised and to be value for money. This was neither, and for a property that has 'by Wyndham' in its name, I can now add 'by Wyndham' to my filter criteria to ensure I don't book any od their properties again. 

Of the problems:
- Pool is advertised on 3rd party websites (and their own up until a few days before the visit). But the pool had been closed all season for renovations
- Sofa bed was completely broken. We booked a 2 queen suite specifically to sleep a family of 5, so this was one of the reasons we booked the hotel. The hotel was fully booked out for an event in the area, so no other rooms were available,  and I had to make the suggestion to use an out of service room to at least get an extra bed (this room also had an almost broken sofa bed). My wife and I had to split up between rooms so make sure no kid was left sleeping alone.
- The property in general gives off an unkept/unclean vibe, and this was evident in both our main room in which we ended up finding a used mask and other items not from our trip in our room when packing to leave, and the out of service room had dirty bedding which we needed to change ourselves because the night manager needed to man the desk and no other staff were on site). I'd expect an out of service room to actually have had the room cleaned and be left in a clean condition).
- The beds are just full stop uncomfortable. Don't expect to get any decent sleep or to wake up rested. (If booking for a road trip just save yourself thr money and sleep in the car)


Just Don't 

This hotel is in dire need of a make-over.  The one and only elevator made this terrifying noise and we weren't sure we were going to make it to the 4th floor.  lol!  There is wallpaper falling off the walls in some places.  I know they are working on renovating, so maybe next time it will look better.  It was clean though!  And the beds were pretty comfy.  

Maybe next time?

Spend one night here in September.  The place was still under renovation but overall, had a good experience.  We got a big room that had 2 tv's/couch.  The breakfast consisted of eggs/hash browns, cereal, chocolate donuts, muffins, and was attended well.

First time stay at a Wingate

One year ago, I stayed at this property when it was Country Inn & Suites and was very impressed.  Amanda and her team were on point as I worked my way back from western Michigan to metro DC.  So I was disheartened to learn a few months back that Radisson closed that property permanently.

As I was planning my annual trip to W-MI for this year, I did see the property was active but under the Windham brand so I decided to make a reservation as this was the closest to splitting the two days of driving.  And what a great decision that turned out to be ...

Why?  Amanda was there to greet me when I arrived pretty late (appx 2235 EDT) on a Saturday night, and also remembered that I had stayed with her a year ago.  She got me up to speed on the transition to Windham and all the renovations happening.

The room she gave me reflected the renovated and very nice, and she was also able to find another desk chair when I discovered the one I had was missing a screw that was causing the seat back to move.

For late night food, many offerings on GrubHub and most taking orders as late as 2315 EDT; during the week, I'm sure last orders are an hour earlier but plenty of choices.

If Youngstown is where you plan to stop for the night, this is the place to go.  Amanda and her team are the best.

Different Name, Same Great Team

We had a three-night stay during the Christmas holiday. We live almost 5 hours away and we were traveling with our two small dogs. Checkin was seamless, although I was shocked we needed to fill out paperwork when I booked online. Regardless, it was pretty speedy, as the hotel was near empty. The room was adequate. It wasn't anything fancy, but good for our stay. It was larger than I expected and it was clean. There was a couple of broken floor tiles in the bathroom. Aside from that, the room was in good condition. The rooms and hotel are somewhat dated. The wallpaper is peeling in some places and the carpet needs replaced. They are currently undergoing renovations, but nothing seemed too pressing. The pool and some other amenities were closed, but not a big deal. We were there to visit friends and family, not to relax in our room.  My biggest complaints were the outside grounds and the pet accommodation. The flower beds lacked flowers or plants. There was minimal landscaping, no mulch, and some trash in the flower beds. There were no signs for the pet area, but when you find it you will see it's loaded with dog waste. Pet owners are supposed to clean up after their pets. As with everything else in society, some people are ignorant. However, not all dog owners should suffer due to the ignorant. The staff should be out there attending to this on a regular basis and this obviously wasn't happening. The lawn lacked a final mowing for the year and there were leaves all through the grass and the flower beds around the trees. There was only one small outdoor trash can for the poop bags, it could have been a little nicer. I ended up walking our dogs in the Home2 Suites by Hilton lawn. It was perfectly groomed and well-lit. The breakfast was better than expected and the complimentary coffee was always fresh. The staff was nice and helpful but could be a little more personable. We would stay again if needed. Hopefully, the renovations get put into high gear.

Not bad, but not great

Minor problem, but easy fix. The staff was great. Once problems were brought to their attention, the problem was solved. this is my go to place when I visit relatives.  I visit the city often and plan to stay there in the future. 

Could have been better

Our large room had a comfortable bed for two, a swivel TV viewable from the couch and side chair with a side table, a writing desk with a chair, and a "bar" equipped with a fridge and microwave.  The bath was roomy and every fixture worked easily.  Best room for the price we've had in a long time.  The room was clean and odorless.  Its caretaker prepared it very well.  The lobby was welcoming, the front desk efficient, and the breakfast room was arranged for social distancing and easy access to breakfast items.
