The gentlemen who run this Motel 6, and have for over 20 years, have done a fabulous job of renovating to make their place a welcome respite from the stresses of the highway.  From cleanliness to rapid response, if something isn't perfect, their care and dedication is obvious. And even though they have always fought their homophobic local bureaucracy steadfastly, they have persisted and remain. With the help of my fellow travelers, they could show their little town that, in the 21st century, local businesses are good for small town economies. I highly recommend you spend some rest time at their motel.  You won't regret it.

A Mid-Western Gem at Very Reasonable Rates!

Very nice and helpfull staff. Clean and comfortable rooms.  Very reasonable prices. With in walking distance of several restaurants across the street at the truck stop and a subway in the parking lot.

Very nice hotel 

This has to be the BEST place to stay in Avoca, IA.  My husband and I stayed on our way out to the Black Hills and our return home! The gentleman that checked us in was kind, friendly and very professional.

Would stay here again!

Very clean and friendly staff. I have stayed at Motel6 across the country. This was one of the nicer ones. There is a sports bar and grill attached. However it is empty and they do not adhere to advertised hours. Mostly closed.

Evaluation Motel 6, Avoca, IA

Best Price.  Very clean.  Wood floors.  Microwave upon request.  Coffee aways available (If not they will make it.)  Extremely courteous staff and owner determined to please. Located one minute off of I-80.  Highly recommended.


Best motel in Avoca

The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean.  This Motel 6 takes more pride in its appearance then other Motel 6s I've stayed at.  The bathrooms were spacious, including the bathtub.  There is an attached grill business with this Motel 6. Yut

 The staff was very accommodating.  The  room and bathroom were very clean.  We appreciated the free coffee and took some 'to go' as we continued on our journey.  We would recommend this hotel to friends and family and will definitely stay here again!

For a great stay.....Motel 6 in Avoca!

I’m a 53 year old grandma. I was sent from Ottawa, IL to Arvada, Co on an adventure in a 2004 School Bus. So that it could continue to be restored and used as a ‘Restoration Outreach Bus’ to help others in need.
The bus has a few mechanical issues as do I, lol. So as I searched for a reasonably priced lodging area,  I was lead to Motel 6 in Avoca, Iowa. It was meant to be! The staff was beyond courteous and helpful. The location was a perfect halfway point for my trip. And very convenient  for a 37 foot bus. No issues in pulling in or parking. There is the Game Time Restaurant attached. Good pizza! Attentive staff (Thank you Sheila!) and the locals were so kind and friendly. I was exhausted, room rate was very reasonable, accommodations were clean and comfortable. And the water was hot with great pressure! Huge perk! Lol. 
The next morning I realized I left the lights on. Thus=dead battery! Tired traveler syndrome. Ugh. the Hotel owner Keith made a call to local truck repair, Wings to come give the bus a jump. Sean from Wings showed up promptly, worked on firing up the Cold ole diesel for an extended period to no avail. I knew I needed to plug it in and warm the block. He offered to return later and recharge if needed. This kind young man did not accept payment. Told me Merry Christmas! Wow! I then realized the distance from bus to outdoor outlet was quite a distance. I requested use of extension cord and outlet from Keith. Again, with no issue was helped without complaint or extra charge. Then! I needed another extension cord. Keith then took me to local hardware store! Attained. 3 cords later, bus starts!! Weather moves in and day has passed. Stayed another night, bus starts in the morning thank you all their willingness to help! Appreciate you all Motel 6 family! Thank you, Keith, Deb and John! I will be back on my future ‘Restoration Bus travels! Avoca, Iowa is a quiet little town packed with kind, compassionate people! Thank you ALL!

5 Star in my book!

We needed a pet friendly hotel while moving to another state and this place fit our needs. The person at check in was really nice. We were fortunate that we made our reservation on the phone. Apparently, the online reservation system was not working for some travelers and they were not getting the room the thought they booked. We, however were given exactly what we reserved. We had two rooms. One with pets. The rooms were extremely clean. The furnishings we're modest at best. The beds creaked terribly in both rooms. The thing that bothered me the most were the ugly bed spreads. The room would have looked so much better if something newer and more appealing was used. The bathroom was just ok. The sink had part writing underneath it, not real nice to look at. The walk in shower I had worked exceeding well and probably was the highlight of the room. This is my first time staying at this chain. I'm not sure I will try another Motel 6 in the future.

Needed a place that takes pets

Friendly  staff. Clean and comfortable room would stay here any time when we are in area.  Close to the interstate but quiet .They had a restaurant on premises and a bar not open for  Breakfast .  truck stop close by with restaurant we went there for breakfast
