This lovely and quaint home is an older structure that is furnished with casual antiques and comfortable furniture. Our room was spacious, and we had lots of windows with plenty of light and air. There is a big back yard that empties out onto the Shore Path that edges along the sea. You can see the ocean from the house. Although the view is not expansive (there are many trees towards the sea side of the yard), it is nice to have the presence of the ocean within sight. The location is very near town, a block away. But it is near the street end, so it is quiet, with little traffic. Plenty of parking; a spacious, comfy living room, library and dining room; all with lots of light. The owners are on premises and they are attentive and very nice folks. They bake, and the smell of baking wafts into the rooms from time to time which is a plus that cannot be priced. 

It is important to note that this is a very old house, so the floors creak and noise from above may carry. We really didn’t care. We slept like Maine granite after a long day of hiking in Acadia, eating lots seafood and taking in lots of Atlantic sea air. 

Breakfasts are set out buffet style (coffee and tea are available all day) and can be eaten in the dining room where socializing with other guests is a pleasure. Or you can go out on the porch, back yard or living room and relax with your food. Breakfast always included the delicious baked goods we were smelling the night before; fresh fruit, juice and a variety of main courses that were quite good. The atmosphere was friendly, and we often enjoyed conversations about the day ahead or yesterday’s activities with the other guests.

Overall – cozy, unpretentious and reasonably priced. Owners are committed to providing their guests with an enjoyable experience.

Cozy and Casual Getaway

We stayed at Shore Path Cottage for only one night at the end of the season, last week in October.  We stayed in the separate building Bird's Nest, upstairs.  The room was very spacious and clean.  The bathroom, while not huge was larger (and adequate) than the bathrooms in the main house. The only things we didn't like about the room were the fact that it was difficult to close the drapes for privacy, especially the drapes above the stairs, and the king-sized bed was turned 90 degrees incorrectly.  If you are 6' or taller, your feet will dangle off the edge.  I think they just need to rotate the mattress 90 degrees to get the orientation correct.

The thing we liked the most was the fact that there is a view (a very narrow view, but a view nevertheless) of the harbor & bay, and direct access to the Shore Path. Our early morning walk on the Shore Path was very enjoyable.

Regarding breakfast, it fell a little below expectations.  They served southwest scrambled eggs (don't like the "southwest" ingredients), and there was no meat - only vegetarian sausage links and patties.  The blueberry french toast was really good however.  Additionally, the innkeeper noticed that I was not eating much and offered to cook some plain scrambled eggs for me which was a very nice gesture and was appreciated.  The coffee was a very strong very bitter blend.  I wish that a milder blend coffee was available, but I was able to get a milder coffee at a nearby Dunkin' Doughnuts anyway without much trouble.

Overall, it was a good stay.

Convenient location. Friendly, accommodating innkeeper

We enjoyed our stay at the Shore Path Cottage.  The proprietor Joseph was a great cook and very welcoming.  The location is beautifully quiet in a bustling BH.  The property is on the Shore Path so there are two ways to walk to town which is just 2 or 3 blocks away.  The house itself is quite old and very interesting.  The common areas are very spacious and the grounds huge.  We were happy to spend time on the property itself to relax between hikes and exploring BH.  We recommend this property!

Great Location Great People

We stayed at the Shore Path Cottage for three nights while touring around Acadia NP. We found it very comfortable and really well located. It was within walking distance of the center of town, but nicely separated from all the hustle and bustle. Joseph couldn’t have been nicer in making us feel welcome, and prepared excellent breakfasts every morning. We would definitely stay here again!

We stayed here and because we didn’t work out our journey time we had to cut short our stay. The room was clean and our host could not have been better, he was great and the food was superb. The island and countryside was stunning. Thank you so much for our stay in Elisabeths room :)

My husband and I came here with another couple and loved this Bed and Breakfast.  The cottage is charming, a great location, food was wonderful, and our host, Joseph, was very welcoming.  Views beautiful.

Loved the breakfasts, great food, hot and cold with fruit.  In afternoon there was homemade pizza, brownies, cheesecake, wine, and/or cider.  Highly recommend.

Joseph made great sandwiches for us for a boat trip too for low cost.

Fantastic food and host

We stayed at the SPC for nine days and enjoyed every day. The rooms are large and quiet. The location is perfect, just a few steps from the center and all the hustle and bustle, but there is absolute peace. The hosts are very attentive and offer a great service. The breakfast is very varied, extensive and very tasty. It is best enjoyed on the terrace with sea view. There are plenty of tips and information on the site for excursions and restaurants.

Wonderful days in Bar Harbor

We spent four evenings in May at the warm and welcoming Shore Path Cottage and loved every minute of our stay! The innkeeper Lisabeth was so gracious and friendly and provided lots of helpful insights on the area, from restaurant recommendations to interesting hiking and entertainment options. The breakfasts were healthy and so delicious and each afternoon we also enjoyed tasty homemade treats as well as a nice glass of wine. You can't beat the location (just minutes from the shore and an easy walk into town) and having onsite parking was a big plus. We  especially enjoyed getting to know Lisabeth and learning more about Bar Harbor's rich history through her eyes. Highly recommend!

Bar Harbor at its best!

Where to start - this was the most awesome stay in a long time. Lisabeth is so pleasant, welcoming and just wonderful. 
We have booked the Lisabeth room and absolutely loved everything about it - cozy, absolutely clean and a side view on the ocean. 
The location is fantastic - Bar Harbor city within walking distance and Acadia National park 5 min by car. 
The breakfast was amazing and what I liked about it is that everyone is sitting together at one huge table and you can meet people and share experiences. Also the food is so delicious - you have to experience it on your own!
If there would be a 6 star rating, I would give it. This was just awesome!

Awesome place

Wonderful stay overnight! A friend and I stayed in Bird’s Nest and it was a perfect, cozy stay for our one night in town. We were warmly welcomed and had warm tea and coffee available with a delicious cobbler. Great place to be and then take the shore path into town, and then an easy trip back to the cottage from town.
