There are a lot of bad reviews from several years ago. But I was desperate. My room had a very comfortable bed. It was fresh smelling and clean. Some wear and tear on the walls but nothing was dirty. I would stay there again.

My husband and I needed a place to stay while attending my husband's father's wake and funeral.  We live 4 hours away and decided it would be best to brake up the trip into two days.  We checked into a place called "Valu Stay" priced at $64.13 for a smoking room with two queen beds.  The motel is located in downtown Le Sueur, Minnesota.  On Thursday evening 11/21/2019 after we checked in, we went to the room and looked at the sheets and bathroom, as I usually do when staying in these types of places.  Absolutely horrifying conditions!!  The bedding in both beds looked used and unkempt.  I was scared to use the bathroom.  At that point, we went back down to the office to get a refund, because there was no way I could sleep on sheets that had been used or attempt to use a dirty toilet.  After alerting The man at the front desk of the issue and why we wanted a refund, he threatened me, that if he went back to the room and there was nothing wrong, he would still charge for the room!  I was frustrated, tired and panicking because we only had enough money to get us to this town, get this room, eat supper, and back to our town.  That's it!  My refund didn't happen right away, it took a day to get returned back onto my card.  After exiting the motel and asking for the refund, we decided to go to St. Peter, Minnesota to the AmericInn where they accepted the help of my sister's payment so we could have a pleasant rest, with clean sheets, and much more.

towels and face cloths were stained yellow and were rough. I reserved a room with 2 bed  they gave us 1 bed . there were beer cans and garbage outside the back parking lot door and I  had to go between drunk  people to get to my car toilet was not working correctly my husband had to keep taking the back off to stop the water from running continually   I am glad we only had 2 nights there

We have stayed here in the past but it has changed ownership for the worse.

Horrible smell.  The room had a stench of years worth of cigarettes and beer.  We used a entire bottle of heavy duty Febreeze every single day just to make it tolerable.  Every item that was in the room had to be washed and aired when we got home.

The AC was basically non existent.  The room was hot when we checked in and took 18 hours to cool to comfortable.  Yes... 18 hours.  That first night was miserable.  We hung a 'do not disturb' sign and left the AC running on full... the second night we slept in comfort.

Toilet doesn't work well and tub drains slowly.

Railroad track are directly behind the motel.

On the good side, the room has a dorm size fridge/freezer and that was nice.

La Stinky in Le Suer

From the reviews I was expecting much worse. What we got was a very clean comfortable room. Must have been recently renovated with a large screen tv. Thought the price was about $20 too high compared to similar motels in the area with no breakfast. Room had frig, microwave, and hair dryer. I was there when the hallways were being vacuumed and that was what gave the building a slightly funky smell. Not too many outlets so you may want to bring a power strip if you have electronics to charge. 

Better than expected 

Never in my life have we been to a hotel/motel that stunk so bad. The entire place smelled horrible. Im so glad i didnt bring my kids there. Then they wait till the middle of the night to kick out the people who were right next to our room... why not do it during the day so they can find a place to go.. the owner sat and yelled at them in the halls for everyone to hear. Not to the rooms . They stink so bad. No air freshner .. nothing.. dust all over the tv stand like it was never cleaned.. the towels have big holes in them and bleach spots all over them. The ceiling has spots all over it and going down the stairs the ceiling in actually falling... not sure how this hotel basnt been shut down. Im from the cities and this would never pass code inspection... i understand its supposed to be a cheap place but we paid 80 and we were so dissapointedin everything.. the beds are horrible they sound like they are for kids who are potty training with the plastic mats and in the morning it kills your back. The pillows they have 2 pillows together to make it bigger instead of just getting some normal pillows from a store... the pillow cases are filled with stains.. seriously the worst place we have ever stayed.. if we come to le suer we will never stay here again.

I guess this motel was about what I expected for $80 a night. I was not very happy about the cockroach that was in between the beds and running very fast. My friend insisted it was just a beetle, but having lived in CA for many years, I do know my cockroaches😬 The front desk staff was friendly and professional. The front desk was unstaffed when I went by to tell them about the roach, but I don't think they could have done anything at the time.
