We stayed in Isabellas suite but we stayed in the other room last time, I forgot the name, lol, both rooms have great views and the grounds are amazing to relax by the water. Well worth the drive from New Jersey and the hosts are great as always. I highly recommend a visit.

2nd tiime here

An idyllic place to stay on Lake George. The Boathouse is immaculate and has been restored to its grandeur. It is in walking distance to the Sagamore, downtown shops and restaurants, kayaking, hiking, etc.. Joe, Patti & Laura are gracious hosts who make you feel right at home. We look forward to a return visit!

Serene location on Lake George

My husband and I booked the Isabella Suite and for sure it is sweet. I was so happy with all the amenities, the design, comfort and quality of our room. To be on the lake with mountain backdrop was clearly enough but our room and the service from Owners Joe and Patti made it far and above our expectations. Laura was a huge help too and always with a smile. The town of Bolton landing is withen walking distance and is so quaint. We enjoyed dinner, Shopping, and yes an ice cream or two!

Back at the lodging the beach area had plenty of lounging chairs as well as beautiful gardens to enjoy by day and a cozy fire pit to enjoy a glass of wine by night. Honestly I can’t say enough positive things about our experience there. The front porch which overlooks the lake also views the vast Adirondack mountain ranges, some of the islands,the Minnie HaHa passing by as well as the Mohican also great day trip on the lake.

On a different scale was Captain Joes private boat tour of the lake aboard his very unique wooden boat( I wish I knew more about boats) so I could tell you the Type of boat but it was gorgeous I can tell u that much! Captain Joe was happy to impart all his vast knowledge of the lake and the history of the boathouse!  Ty Capt it was enjoyable and educational!!!

I can’t wait to return to swim in the lake and maybe try some kayaking or fishing off the dock. So much to do and see. A terrific experience indeed. We made a memory to last a lifetime. I recommend this lodging without question!

Fantastic weekend at the Boathouse Waterfront Lodging

After researching for a place to stay in the Lake George area, my wife and I picked The Boathouse Waterfront Lodging.

We checked them out on this site and yes there seemed to be some negative comments.  But after reading them the same people wrote a couple reviews.  Running a small business I understand policies need to be in place to protect customers and owners.  One thing I saw while starting to book was the policies that were in place before you could go to the next step to book.  At that point I could opt out or continue . We continued.

Our stay at the boathouse was very enjoyable.  Check in with Laurie was easy and friendly.  The room was as described on there website.  Clean, soft sheets and the soothing sounds of water to sleep.  In the morning Joe had coffee ready to take and sit on the outside deck.  He sat with us and gave a history of the house and lake, which was enjoyable.  We booked a 2 hour ride on the Miss Boathouse, Captain Joe gave us a tour of the Lake and famous houses.  At night they have a firepit to sit around and talk with other guest.  The firepit does shut off at 10 so that others might not be bothered.  Between the great treatment of Joe, Patti and Laurie,  we would definitely come back to have another visit.

Great relaxing trip

Actually we never stayed at the Boathouse, hence the reason for the review. We booked this inn in March, assuming COVID would be under control by September. We looked forward to our trip, planned places to visit, activities in the area. It really provided something to anticipate during these trying times.  Unfortunately the Covid variant took over the world. We constantly checked to see conditions in the area of the inn. Two weeks before our arrival date, the county had posted high contagious levels.  Being older and immune compromised, we cancelled our trip.  The inn keeper informed us if they booked the room we would receive some of our monies back, but he did state “you know not everyone dies”.  The thought of being in a space mingling with guests and no one knowing whether or not they are contagious seemed absurd to us. We agreed with his statement and did note our room was rented. Upon us calling he informed us he was sending us a gift card for over $1000 for use at another time. A simple refund of 25% of our payment would have resulted in a more positive feeling for this inn. Not only do they not acknowledge a world wide pandemic and the contagious nature of the virus, cancellation will never been done for any reason. We assume that also means death.   We were sadden when we had to cancel, but now understand that perhaps, we did not miss the owners view of people and the world.

Uncaring Keeper

We have stayed at the Boathouse many times for over 20 years, and the number of repeat clients speaks for itself. The rooms/suites and house are immaculately cleaned and maintained, exquisitely appointed and with all the comforts of home made available. The carriage house suites have kitchenette set-ups in each room complete with fridge/counter ovens, etc., for those days when you'd rather relax and read than go out to eat. For the other rooms, there are fridges in the rooms, with hot water and coffee maker/pods and microwave available in the common area. 

Patti, Joe and Laura make their Boathouse your home. We have spent countless happy hours on their porch relaxing, swimming in the lake, enjoying the firepit and the rest of their incomparable property. They treat their guests like family, and always make themselves available whether for tourism assistance, or to help guests with special requests or needs (over the years, I have been the personal recipient of their generosity this way). This absolute jewel is no longer a secret, so if you are thinking about booking even for next year, do it now.

As someone who spent many years in senior leadership in the hospitality industry, I don't write many (or barely any) reviews. Our vacation bookings have ranged from renting a home that sleeps 14 on England's southern coast, to booking the Governor's suite at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island for a week at $5K/night, and the Boathouse can hold its own against the best of these in terms of quality and service - and vastly exceeds them in value for money. We also stayed at the Sagamore in a balcony premium room, and all I will say about that is that there is no comparison - the Boathouse is far higher quality and value for your Lake George getaway. 

I was absolutely *astonished* to read a review from a travel agent about "high end" guests being "yelled at" by the manager for seemingly no reason, and felt I had to write, at least to offer an objective rebuttal, as we were there at that time, and had a unique vantage point in relation to the situation alleged. What their "high end" (and when someone is lacking manners enough to consider certain individuals as 'high end' to distinguish them from other guests, consider that as possible code for "entitled") guests may not realize is that - *sound travels*.

We were relaxing on the porch in our usual spot, and as the screen door to the house was open, we heard the tone used by one particular couple on check in. They did not appear to have been aware that, like at most properties since COVID, daily housekeeping is not available (but you can always get towels refreshed, garbage collected, etc.). Apparently as they had used an agent to book, either an email hadn't been forwarded, or they had neglected to read it, but either way, they decided to take a derisive tone on arrival to make their displeasure with this clear.  They also (from their review) appear to have neglected to respect not only their personal instructions on check-in that their fridge was in their room, but to have been looking through the main fridge *clearly marked* for employee use only. As the Boathouse shops for fresh breakfast ingredients for all guests, and past 'curious' guests have opened said fridge and then neglected to properly close it, resulting in spoilage and scrambling for all the next day, I think I can speak for the vast majority of guests in saying any postings on fridges or elsewhere are at a minimum, and it would take some amount of careless disregard for others' property (and an inability to read the posted reminder) to have wound up "innocently" immersed in said appliance.

I can also say unequivocally that the Boathouse is always considerate of guests' needs, has made exceptions to their policies on occasion as warranted or at their discretion, and I have *never* heard yelling there (aside from Joe enthusiastically greeting friends going by on their boats), and that we would have been in a location to hear this that day. There was no yelling that we were aware of.

 Our elderly parents even accidentally backed into
 Patti's glorious flowerbeds on one stay - and there was no yelling or even scolding.  In this instance, it may be more in line with a "high-end" couple's experience to interpret any conversation where they are asked to be respectful in tone to staff and to respect the minimum guidelines in place for all guests as 'yelling' -  but to the remainder of the guests, I think
 we can just say that this couple's company wasn't exactly missed at the jovial breakfasts enjoyed by the  other guests - almost all of whom (including us) have already re-booked for next year.

Which brings us full-circle here. The repeat business speaks for itself, and all who know Patti, Joe and Laura absolutely love them. You will, too. The property, views, service and amenities are exceptional - and even rainy days here are a joy. My only issue? I have to make sure we make plans early, to not lose our spot!!!

Home Away from Home in Bolton Landing

My husband and I just returned from a 4 night stay at the Boathouse  B&B and we had an wonderful time. This was my first time in Lake George / Bolton Landing and will be remembered mostly for the time spent at the B&B. This place is so charming, very clean and has spectacular views!  Favorite spot has to be morning coffee on the deck off main dining room. We could easily sit out there for hours watching the boats go by. Joe and Patti are terrific host's and really made us feel at home in their home.  Patti's breakfast's were a real treat and a great start to the day. Definitely recommend the boat tour with Joe in his beautiful Miss Boathouse!!! We can't wait to return and make more magical memories of this special place.

Charming Getaway From The City!!!

We spent two nights in this magical spot.  The building, an historic boathouse, is beautiful, and exquisitely maintained.  We spent as much time as we could on the sun deck/porch that sits over the lake and has the best view imaginable.  Comfort is a very high priority at The Boathouse, and literally every possible need is anticipated and met.  We stayed in the Tanner Room, which includes a turret - also a wonderful view - doubling as an office.  Breakfast is fantastic, giving me ideas for special breakfasts at home.  Our hosts, Joe and Patti (and Laura) could not have been nicer, great to talk to, and so very thoughtful.  Don't miss the firepit and consider the boat excursion - the boat is gorgeous.  Can't wait to return!

Heavenly, peaceful B&B with history, beauty, and great hosts

I have tried to think through how to even write this review as I have never written one for a business before nor have I ever experienced something like this before. The experience wasn’t just bad, it was scary. 

A back story: 
I was supposed to get married this year. Because of Covid I had to cancel my wedding, my shower, my bachelorette party, etc. My fiancé and two girlfriends made a plan to surprise me and send me off to Lake George to relax and lay in the lake since we live local. Friend #1 was surprising me on Saturday and the 2nd friend Sunday morning. One was staying one night because she has an infant at home, one was staying the other. In fact, my fiancé when booking my surprise even told the person who took the booking this.

What happened:
I was at breakfast with friend #1 (which by the way, show up at 9am prompt and don’t eat slow or that won’t be enjoyable either but that’s the least of my worries here) and friend #2 showed up Sunday morning and wasn’t allowed to surprise me. She was yelled at for coming on the property and removed. 

Now, I don’t even know she is here because this is a surprise, which she explained to Joe upon arrival. After she was removed, Joe came flying out onto the front porch angry and I was met with a “I am going to tell you right now how this is going to go”. The owner was so abrupt and hostile that I even said, “sir I think you have the wrong people.” He read us the riot act about having 3 people at his home and we left the front porch without finishing our breakfast scared/concerned/ bewildered. Almost forgot, we are paying over $500 a night to get treated like this but more on that later. 

All three of us left the property to figure out a new place to eat and a new place to go for the day until friend #1 went home. Found a new place to eat and found a new place to sit in the water with our tubes, perfect. We went back to the room so that friend #1 could pump and get the breastmilk into the fridge/pack up her bags and friend #2 could put her valuables in the room/out of her car/change into bathing suits for the day.  

This is where things got very bad:
We heard banging and screaming at the other side of the door. The owner Joe was livid and accusing us of lying to him because we went in the room together (the room I have paid over $1,000 to be in). At this point I turned my phone video camera on because he looked like he wanted to drag us out with his own two hands (Trip advisor won’t let me add a video, inbox me if you want to see him in action). We tried to calm him down and asked him to stop pointing a finger in our face and screaming. His response was you leave in 5 minutes or I call the police. The friend that is pumping was in the bathroom and he accused her of hiding. We were told we are liars, a disappointment, “something is wrong with our DNA”, made fun of where we went to college, etc. Because we were physically unable to leave within 5 minutes, he called the police. What happened for the next 10 minutes of scrambling out of their and finding a new hotel was something I will never forget in my life. Looking back, I would have asked to talk to the police officer because we later realized he just wanted us to be so scared and flustered that we didn’t get the proper documentation. 

THE CUSTOMER SERVICE NIGHTMARE PART:
To the general public, if you are still considering booking here read the fine print in his contracts. Whether he kicks you out, you cancel, a natural disaster occurs, a family member dies – Joe will still walk away with your money. Just filter the bad reviews and look at what others have gone through with this guy and his negligent responses to those reviews. He mocks, blames, and misconstrues the review of every single customer and takes no responsibility. This behavior is unacceptable. Joe was able to kick us out and still take both night’s money. We were only able to stay one night. My 2 friends & fiancé paid over $1,000 of their hard-earned money so I could have a weekend to celebrate what was supposed to be my wedding all to get screamed at, surprise ruined, kicked out, embarrassed, and mocked. We didn’t get to finish our breakfast, shower, brush our teeth, nothing. I hope you sleep well at night with our hard-earned money Mr. Silipigno, we are good people and I hope I NEVER have to deal with someone like you again in my lifetime.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE, AN ACTUAL CUSTOMER SERVICE NIGHTMARE

Let me start out by saying if you plan of visiting Lake George from Spring to early fall, this is the place for couples. Our hosts, Joe, Patti and Laura could not be more friendly! From the time you arrive they all made you feel like family. Breakfast was served promptly at 9am and each day was something different and amazing. The views of the lake from the porch are stunning from dawn till dusk. If the weather is good, Joe will provide you with his personal boat ride tour around the lake. He as so much knowledge and history about the entire area. It is only a few minutes walk to the main street of Bolton Landing, where you will find plenty of casual and fine dining opportunities. I could go on and on about our stay, but the only way to experience it is to book a stay. The Boathouse is open from Spring til early Fall. We are already counting down our days until our return trip in May.
