The two futons that served as couches in the living room have such worn out mattresses that we could hardly get out of them without being helped out.  We stayed in Unit F. 
Good luck finding anyone in the lobby. We rang the bell and knocked on the door , and waited and waited and waited. No one ever came. 
The Wifi is a total joke. Forget having Wifi. 
Mouse poop in the utensils drawer. Oh God! 


Room for improvement

The location is excellent but the facility and service leaves a lot to be desired.  The cabins are very "rustic" with minimal facility e.g., no closet at all.  Shower stalls are probably 24 inch by 24 inch; you can't bend down to wash your feet.  It's hard to get staff to help you.  Also, I would like to see reviews from visitors who think they were charged unnecessary $150 cleaning fee when they did nothing unusua.

I had to cancel my reservation for a family emergency. I notified the office well ahead of the deadline. This was back in August, 2022. They STILL have not refunded me the promised money (after taking out some kind of cancellation fee).

They won't even call me back or respond to emails! I'll never book with these unprofessional people again!


Not happy

I did a wedding here with the previous owners and it was perfect. Always someone at the front desk who was knowledgeable with handling weddings and events. Items on the contract were done prior to guests arrival and those "to-do" items during the event were handled appropriately.

Fast forward to new owners. They honored a contract that was put in place by the previous owners and delayed by Covid, that is the only positive comment I have. Nobody mans the front desk, they leave a phone out front for you to call with questions and nobody answered it during the 3 days we were onsite. You had to track down the staff if you needed something or had questions. The staff on premise were friendly and did the best they could but 1 or 2 people at most to handle the number of cabins and people is unheard of and sets them up for failure.  Our wedding was 150 quests with all cabins full, itinerary, event layout etc were emailed weeks prior as stated in contract didn't get done and we had to do it. Outside heaters didn't work, items in cottages were broken (french press), both refrigerators in the shack behind bar that is there to use to cool drinks etc didn't work. Only the top freezer works, the big freezer doesn't even cool. Contract stated chairs were to be moved from wedding venue to tables and they demanded this information weeks prior but they only had 1 person to handle which again we got wedding guests to help. This is a destination wedding venue for most people, not only is it an expense to travel to and pay for rooms the least you could do is to make certain everything is in working order and clean so it shines. It is a good thing we had extra people come up 2 days early who spent our wedding time getting your items done. Was that really fair for our guests who came up early to get our stuff unloaded and organized to take care of items you didn't get done. 

Kind of ironic, you expect those renting your rooms to wash the dirty dishes, separate garbage, leave dirty towels in one spot and keep or move back furniture the way we found it or we would be charged extra but you don't have the same expectations for your establishment to follow.....Shame on you...You failed as a wedding or event venue.....it's not your people it's you the owners for not hiring enough people to take care of your business, set expectations, be onsite, check things out....look at your reviews and take note your reputation is gonna fail you.

Wow, I am pretty shocked to see so many good reviews. The scenery is nice and staff is friendly but this is WAY overpriced for the quality of room and service. We paid $600 for 2 nights, the room smelled like cleaning products, the fireplace didn't work, had a spider crawl across our table while eating. No phones or service to get a hold of anyone. We were provided 2 space heaters for heat. The wifi doesn't work. It's pretty old and run down.. the pictures look nice but it's way different in person. I don't usually leave bead reviews but wanted to give another family a heads up before spending a ton of money to be let down. A lot of it was laughable & we made the best of the situation but we forfeited our second night and went home. We would rate 2.5 out of 5.

Overall Let Down

Raising a red flag on wedding reservations. I visited in early April 2021 and was given a wedding date in June 2022. Everything was fine, and it seemed like a great place for a wedding.

Since then I have been unable to get a hold of any responsible person to discuss contract terms and deposit. The phones have been "out" for weeks and when we do get through, we're given a different story every time and have even been hung up on a few times.

The recent change in ownership ruined this business.

My daughter, grandson, and I spent two nights in a very cute cabin called Muir. The surroundings were beautiful and rewarding. Upon arrival at check in time,  there was no one in the lobby. Finally a handyman came and led us to the cabin. He went in and checked the cabin before we could go in. We were pleased with the darling cabin. However, that night we were subjected to a loud and horrible noise from the fireplace that lasted for over an unbearable time. There was no one to call for help except the owner who was in Turlock. He told us to notify the staff in the morning which meant going to the Lobby which was quite a distance from our cabin. The problem was rectified. Another inconvenience was that the refrigerator froze our fruit and other items. The creamer provided for coffee was mildewed and curdled.

Disappointing staff support

Pinecrest Chalet is the perfect mountain resort. The property is so peaceful and well taken care of. Now under new ownership, we’ve seen many changes happening including lots of renovations! I highly would recommend the Chalet if you’re looking for a relaxing upscale getaway with family or friends. Also, it is so close to dodge ridge and the lake which made things very convenient for us! Staff was very friendly and accommodating! Can’t wait to return Summer 2020!

Gorgeous Mountain Resort

Traveling with two teenagers, we're always looking for lodging where each kid can get their own bed, so the loft (#8) seemed like the perfect option -- queen bed with a loft that accommodates two twins. But the term "loft" should be used very lightly here, because it's more like an overhead luggage rack that fits two twins. The ceiling over one was so low, it seemed like sleeping in a coffin so my son ended up sleeping on the floor next to our bed instead. The location is very close to Dodge Ridge, the management was very nice and responsive, and the whole site has a very cute rustic village feel with a little brook running right behind it. We would consider staying there again in a bigger place, but we want to make sure another family with larger children doesn't make this mistake. I included photos so you can see what the cabin is like. They mean for the "loft" to be for little children, apparently. Also, my teens want people to be aware that the wifi is not great.

Some of the lodgings are nice. Ours was nice but tiny. We had a shed (#3) called Birch. You walk in, there’s a bunk bed that has a full bed on the bottom and a single on the top. No sheets except a fitted sheet and blankets. There’s a bathroom vanity for your toiletry needs AND dishwashing needs. Nothing like cleaning a plate and getting a hair on it at the same time. There’s an itty bitty shower and a separate room for the toilet. You’ll have a microwave, dorm room fridge, and a cabinet filled with some plates and utensils. You’ll also have a pot that self heats for hot water when plugged in and a French press for coffee that’s provided. It was clean but sooooo tiny for 3 adults. If you stay here, tell them you have at least 4 people, so that you can have roomier accommodations, even if it’s only 2 of you. Our shed was like a Kamping KOA kabin, but not as cute
