If you are looking for a quality stay and standard comforts of today’s modern world…..you need to keep looking unless you are looking for retro and non-updated accommodations.  

Seriously, this place should be a lot cheaper for what they offer.

Sub-standard Inn

We stayed here due to breaking down on the hwy. The room was ok for a crappy motel. In the morning as my wife was in Sacramento getting a rental car as that was the closest place on Sunday, the owner called the room at 10:54am to tell us we had minutes to check out or be charged for another night. I explained to her that we had broken down and my wife was an hour away getting a rental. I said myself and the children would have to wait in the parking lot for an hour. She yelled at me and told me to get out or be charged another night. As a General Manager myself for the last 20 years, I have to say, this is behavior I find absolutely unacceptable. Truly unbelievable. No late check out available and we are talking one hour here, which would have been noon. The only thing I can say is, please do not give these uncaring, inconsiderate people your money.

Rude.

Urine on the toilet seat, dirt and hair on the bathroom floor plus every furniture top was unclean. I used a whole roll of toilet paper wet wiping the toilet seat, nightstand, table, desk, TV stand and countertops so we could set our things down. 

The toilet flush handle was held on with electrical tape. About half of the bathroom floor vinyl had been painted over.  What's with that? 

This place could be nice. It has large rooms, huge bathrooms and high ceilings. Too bad management doesn't care about cleanliness or maintenance.

We would not stay here again.

Dirty and disappointing

One would expect to pay more along the lines of 60 or $70 a night for a place like this, but any lodging in the area costs more than this place, even the Airbnb types after all is said and done.
The room was large and fairly clean. The heater was adequate. It was fairly quiet. It is an independent small motel. It can be hard to get a hold of the front desk staff.

Good enough

My husband and I were doing some hiking and wine tasting in the Placerville area and needed a hotel.  The Westhaven Inn was one of the only options in the area that allowed pets and definitely the least expensive.  This hotel is a little run down on the outside and no-frills, but the rooms are large with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, eating area, cable tv, and even a private back patio.  The back patio was great for hanging out on and provided a space for our dog to enjoy the outdoors. 
The man at the check-in counter was very nice, as several other reviews have mentioned.  There’s also a very conveniently-located restaurant next door we walked to for dinner named Sportman’s Hall that had good food and service. The noise from the freeway and highway was noticeable but it was more like background noise and didn’t bother us.  I would definitely consider staying here again in the future.

Good Budget Hotel that Allows Pets

the first thing I noticed was it was not as clean in the room as I expected, shower dirty, carpet dirty not vacuumed. there were lights burned out, cover missing from bathroom fan and light the light bulb missing, mildew in bathroom.  We arrived and after checking in it took almost 8 hours for the room to heat to the point we could start taking off extra layers. (heavy snow that night) there were holes in the walls repaired with masking tape, both smoke alarms were inoperable the one in the main room had toilet paper wrapped around it.  We only stayed one night and never will again. The website shows great pictures but must be really old it was nothing like the pictures.

not a good value for what you get

To start with, the owners were very friendly and nice.  After that, the review goes downhill.  The place is falling apart.  Water damage from the winter snow shows everywhere.   Peeling paint outside,  handrails coming off,  steps that are sagging etc.    On the inside, knobs on the sink that are missing the "H" and the "C" medallions.    Smoke detector partially hanging from the ceiling,  missing knobs to pull up the sink stoppers,  very yellow plastic face plates showing aging plastic,  old carpet......... I'll leave it at that.

But, it was clean.

I can't believe how many people rated this place highly.

First, I must say that the manager (owner?) is a very kind gentleman. We arrived after hours and he was pleasant checking us in despite the fact we likely woke him up. He was also kind enough to call me to let me know that he had trouble with the credit machine and asked if I was double charged. I was so he is processing a refund for one.

Overall, the room was fine, clean, large and reasonably comfortable. The shower had mildew that would be easily remedied with some bleach. The beds and pillows were okay. There was a balcony on the back, coffee maker,  microwave, and refrigerator in the room. The bath had two sinks which was handy since there were 3 of us. 

However, the lack of a hair dryer or hair conditioner was inconvenient. For $98, I would expect both and breakfast. This was a value of $60-70 for room so I rated it accordingly.

A bit pricey for minimal amenities

We only spent one night here on our way through. The rooms were very nice and roomy. High ceilings, so plenty of light. The man at the front desk was very nice and helpful.

The problems: a lot of mildew on the shower walls. Grossed us out. Also, when we walked in to our room for the 1st time, we were appalled at how cold it was. We discovered that the window in the main room and the one in the bathroom were wide open. This was in February, way up in the mountains. We never could get that room, with its high ceilings, to warm up. We travel with electric throws, so thank heavens there were outlets on both sides of the bed or we would have frozen.
