My husband and I were so thrilled with our stay at Inn on the Main! It was truly one of the most enjoyable experiences we have shared together. The Inn Keeper, Adele, greeted us warmly at the door when we arrived. She was kind and relaxed and made us feel right home with super thoughtful touches like homemade cupcakes and a run down of the next mornings breakfast. She gave us a brief tour of the common areas and let us know how we could find her if needed. The Bed and Breakfast itself is stunning. It is massive Victorian style Home yet still remains warm and cozy. Our suite was lovely with a very comfortable bed and quality linens. The whirlpool tub was so relaxing. Bathrobes and wine glasses were waiting for us in our room. Coffee, tea, water and ice were avilable at all times. Breakfast the next morning was delightful as we got to enjoy the beautiful dining room next to a big fireplace. The meal included a grilled pear with Greek yogurt and apricot sauce, scone, French toast and bacon. All homemade fresh and delicious. I wish we could have stayed longer! I could lounge around the beautiful spaces with a book all day. We will definitely be back!!!!

We recently stayed at 1840 Inn on the Main and can’t say enough about this great B&B. The grounds and flower beds are meticulous. The common areas neat and clean and filled with tons of thoughtful period furniture pieces and art work. The guest rooms are well appointed with comfortable beds, premium bedding/towels, and spacious tidy bathrooms. There’s several  porches with plenty of outdoor seating to relax and enjoy a complimentary sweet treat with coffee and tea in the afternoon or evening. The staff are extremely friendly, welcoming, kind and accommodating, and the prepared breakfast is outstanding. Don’t hesitate, book your stay at this quality B&B today! You won’t be disappointed.

Wonderful B & B

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. We were delighted to see how beautiful and clean it was. Our room was bright and decorated very well with amenities like a water cooler, refrigerator, coffee, tea right outside our door. The bonus was Adele.  She greeted us with cookies and gave us a tour. We have some dietary needs and Adele cooked the most delicious breakfasts that looked as great as they tasted! We felt like we hit the jackpot - a personal chef that was awesome!  And it was not an easy request with us being vegan AND oil-free.  She nailed it and even gave us a recipe for her awesome french toast. (We should have asked for her quiche recipe) We would definitely go back.  Clean, pretty, could ask for anything we needed, and Adele!

Best accommodations and food

Adele is an exceptional host of a beautiful heritage Bed and Breakfast.  Breakfast was over the top excellent. We wished we had more days there and in the Finger Lakes District.

A Great Experience

What a wonderful choice for a B&B.  Adele, a trained chef, is very helpful, and her breakfasts are innovative, thoughtful, and delicious.  She modified her schedule to prepare us breakfast early one morning and will pack up an early to-go breakfast for you if you want one.  Hint-cross the street and take a walk in the neighborhoods.  There are lots of beautiful, very old houses.  It is also an easy and fun walk into the shopping district of Canandaigua.

Great porches for hanging out, then an easy walk to the city stores for some shopping or dining.

This is the second time we stayed at 1840 Inn on the Main in Canandaigua, both times in the Penfield Suite.  This suite on the first floor was spacious and clean, decorated comfortably and beautifully, and was our home away from home.  The structure is breathtaking and the grounds neatly manicured.  Mornings were my favorite...the breakfasts were delicious and looked like works of art!  We highly recommend staying here.

Adele is a gem! The breakfast was excellent and hearty - not your typical B&B meal - homemade and all that jazz. 

Adele and the other staff during breakfast (I forget her name) were extremely helpful in providing information about the town, wineries and breweries. 

In regards to the rooms: spacious, clean, thoughtful and quiet. 

The grounds and other parts of the house are also very nice. 

I'll surely be back again!

We spent 4 nights at this charming B&B in Canandaigua NY. Our room was a very nice size, especially with the seating area overlooking the rear yard. This provided plenty of sunshine in the room. The innkeeper was very accommodating and friendly. We had to leave very early on our last morning. She packed us a delicious to-go breakfast for the drive home. It included a yogurt and fruit parfait, zucchini bread and an apple. We enjoyed the breakfasts, and afternoon sweets. The inn is located in a lovely walkable neighborhood just a short distance from restaurants, shops and attractions.

Great Place To Stay n The Finger Lakes Area

Everything you would expect from a premium bed and breakfast.   Victorian house with all the modern conveniences like mesh Wi-Fi, friendly and generous innkeeper in Adele, nice linens, comfy bed, filtered water, afternoon snacks of homemade cookies or chocolates, and marvelous three course breakfast both days we were there.  Short walk to great restaurants downtown or the waterfront, easy on-site parking, and excellent communication before arrival. Loved it!

Premium B and B

This place is fantastic! Cozy clean and cute! We were here several years ago and decided to stop overnight on our way to Salem, MA.  Within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Nicks Chophouse and Rio Tomatian ( Mexican) are our favorites. Special thank you to Adele! She went above and beyond even serving us breakfast early because we needed to be on the road to beat traffic.  The beds are very comfortable which is appreciated after a long drive from Ohio! I am hopeful to make it back here next year. Fall is a great time to visit the finger lakes! A must try!
