Well, for a very small, old hotel in a town of 300 people and a total of 166 acres , I will tell you it was just OK. I did expect a little bit more based on the website's description. It was built in 1929 and it certainly looked like that. It had a rustic feel and a loud window air conditioner. Now many people might be bothered by this, but it actually didn't bother me. However i know a rustling sound of an air conditioner could be annoying. The gentleman working there was very nice and recommended places to eat in the area which seriously is one or two choices and one of those choices was the taco truck across the street. Blink and you'll be through Chemult. Some small towns are cute. This one was not.

Did the job 

I was not expecting anything fancy which was ok given the remote location of the area. The room had a comfortable enough bed and functional bathroom. However, my room was right next to the road. It was very loud at night with plenty of truck traffic. I did not sleep well, so I would attempt asking for a room in the back.

Basic accommodations and too close to road

The room was small but clean, the bed was ok, 1 bed shared by 2 which could have been larger. The hotel is on the main street and we were in room 1. It was very noisy with passing traffic plus the air conditioning unit was in the window allowing even more noise in. I couldn't sleep. The bathroom had a walk in shower which was good but the temperature could not regulated so it was either boiling or freezing cold . The water pressure at the wash basin was very weak. 
The owner was a nice lady, but the place really needs modernising and sound proofing to reduce the noise levels.

Road noise inside was very loud

From the first minute we walked in to Dawson House we felt welcome. Owner Colleen is very accommodating and helpful, such a nice lady! It was a great location for our Crater Lake visit. The history of the property is also very interesting. We were in the Rose room which was very spacious and we enjoyed sitting on the 2nd story porch in the evenings.

Comfy and welcoming

This is in a small friendly town. The lodge could use some updating even though it is in an old lodge building. Colleen that owns it but just took it back over from other management checked us in and was very helpful and friendly.

Dawson house lodge

No one available at Checkin, relied on phone call to book in, no use when no phone~ had to wait for another guest to arrive.  Wrong WiFi password so no way to contact owners.
Though advertised as 24 hour coffee and drinks in Lobby none available until we left after the second night, not good when no facilities in room to make drinks! Only 1 hand towel for both of us in room, no tissues , flannels  as found in most other motels. 
Cleaner had left discarded , full bin bags by the room which were never removed during our stay. Sink had a leak underneath, only spotted the full bowl there when looking for spare toilet roll, would have overflowed if not seen and emptied.
TV didn't work, managed to reset it eventually. WiFi code in room book wrong, other guest  suggested correct one. 
Furniture was tired and  mismatched and somewhat worn and wobbly.
Over 1 month on we are still awaiting a reply to our emails sent during our stay.
One of the most expensive on our roadtrip and definitely the worst.!

Stay away, worst overnight stop ever!

We stayed in the Trupp Room and found it quite comfortable, in particular the bed was wonderful. We have a standard double at home, so the queen size was super nice. The frame was very high and I had a difficult time getting in and out--I had to use our small cooler as a step stool. If I'd known, I would have brought a stool from home. You might consider putting one in the room for future travelers. We appreciatemsations during our two-mday stay.  

Many people had issues with television service but after talking to the owner, we learned this ismmm a city-wide problem and has nothing to do with the hotel. It did get   a few minor adjustments and updates, this would be a place we would happily return to. We loved the historic atmosphere and the rustic cabin-like decor. (Log bed!) I also recommend a staffed facility for safety reasons as much as convenience. Thank you to the owner who was readily accessible by phone.

Best Bed Ever!

The Dawson House Lodge is exactly as charming as I hoped it would be. It was clean, adorable, safe and welcoming. Check in was easy and the owner was very responsive. There are night noises here - the hotel is between the train tracks and the freeway, the building creaks and you can hear other guests, but none of it was disruptive. The tub in the Rose Room was as advertised! Love it here and am planning a return trip already!

What a lovely get away!

I absolutely loved the Rose Room with the four poster bed, Jacuzzi (my favorite) and very clean.  In addition, I had a DVD, TV , microwave and refrigerator in my room and a large selection of DVDs and fresh coffee  in the lobby.  I loved the fact there was a quaint Café and gas station nearby and a short drive to Crater Lake. I had to cut my trip due to the snow and the owner was gracious enough to credit the day I left.  I would be remiss to address the service rendered by a young man when I was checking in.  I am sure the owner would appreciate the feedback.  I am a senior citizen that booked on line with Expedia and the paperwork stated my check in was at 3:00pm. I drove 3.5 hours and arrived at the Lodge at 3:30pm.  I noticed a paper on the desk stating due to lack of staff, the early check in will not done.  I heard someone in the back talking on the phone and laughing and I tried to get his attention.  I finally sat down and he came out at 4:00 pm and  promptly told me that no early check in was allowable.  I tried to show him my paper showing 3:00 pm and he ignored me. During the course of checking in, he was chewing a large amount of food with his mouth opened.  During the course of the check in,  he never even looked at me and was extremely rude with short and curt answers.  I travel alot and this is the first experience that I have had that the staff displayed uncaring and doing me a favor.  I hope the owner will address his customer service skills.

Rose Room Amazing

This was great lodging for a tired family.  Comfortable and rustic room.  There is road and train noise throughout the night.  Nice upgrades are being done.  Would stay here again.  Food can be found at a cafe across the road or at the truck stop nearby
