Upon checking in I was greeted by a young lady who was very pleasant and made checking in easy and nice.  Secondly, I almost winced as I went in expecting the worse from reading the reviews, but the room was nice:  nice paint, everything worked, plenty of lighting and air conditioner was efficient, plenty of hot water, towels and bed linen was clean.  You might want to know that there is no pool - it looks like there was one once, but the area is completely filled in, it must have been recent because the pool furniture etc. was still lying around.  Now, this is a very quiet place, not by the freeway, which is why I choose it - it seems like it's hard to find a hotel in Chico that's not by the freeway!  Very quiet and peaceful stay, I would come back, wish they had a pool.  Oh, flat screen tv but not a lot of channels.

Pleasantly Surprised

Nasty nasty nasty, 
Dirty towels, hand towels, wash clothes, blanket had I don't know. 
Nasty, nasty,nasty.
I really can't believe this place  if it wasn't the only place in town, I would have went some where else. 
Workers had all the rooms in Oroville and Chico.
I almost thru up. 

Worst place on earth

We ended up here during graduation May 2018.  When we checked in the place was filthy, which we expected.  After cleaning with a lot of Lysol wipes we left for dinner.  Upon our return we discovered the walls, bathroom and our pillows covered with dozens of cockroaches.  The manager returned our money and we left.
PS. The swimming pool was almost empty, just enough disgusting water in it for mosquito breeding.  The Board of Health should close this place down.

The room looked nice as we asked to see prior to committing staying here, we have stayed here before and no problem, this time however, the sheets were so dingy & grey they need to be bleached, the towels looked stained from idk women wiping off there make-up. Had hot water to shower at night, but in the morning we had luke warm water and we let it run for a long time! Blanket was dirty, the soap dish in the tub/shower combo was missing. Now to say a bit of nice they do look like there remodeling the room as the vanity looked new and the sink looked new as well, for me the bed was comfortable, pillows a different story...lol  The hotel staff was very professional and polite!  but next time i will spend a bit more money and go to a hotel

Room nice size . Bed ok, small pillows and bed blanket dirty, bath towels scratchy and small. Bath products cheap and hard to open. Toilet keep running and needed to shake handle. Shower/tub old and run down missing tiles . Shower curtain dirty and kept hitting you as you showered. The room has refrigerator, microwave and flat screen (no HD) stations. Pool clean and in good condition. Able parking . Near several restaurants and downtown and Bidwell park and Mansion within 5 min drive. We love Chico . 

Mother's Day Wknd 2017

First off, lets put this in perspective: Town House Motel is one of the least expensive says in the area at an off-brand property. What can you really expect from it? 

Second, this was for a business trip where I was 'put up' in this room. This isn't a place I would have personally chosen for myself. And didn't even know where I was staying until I was dropped off. And I wouldn't ever stay here again because it's well below my personal preferences... 

But this is more about you learning about this hotel and what it might be like for your stay... AND at the end, when you factor in price, it was an 'okay' stay -- what I would likely consider 'average' quality stay for the price point.

It was relatively clean enough, maid service was actually above expectations. Shower, bath and vanity were clean and all in good working order. Check-in process was a bit dis-joined because they have two different reservation systems.  

In-room amenities were more than I expected, but the quality was a bit lacking. There was a fridge, microwave, large enough flat screen tv, shampoo, coffee maker... And a well working AC and heater... For the price, if half of the things were missing, it wouldn't surprise me...  However, the quality of the shampoo and coffee were lackluster. But after all, considering the overall price and that they were even in the room, make them 'okay'.

The motel grounds were rather run down, and not necessarily maintained. But most people are here for just a good nights sleep - nothing more. 

Thinking about sleep... I noticed in the morning that my bed sheets were torn near the foot of the bed and should have been replaced. And the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I've been in a while... But I'll admit to being rather picky about my beds.

But regardless of everything mentioned, it was a relatively clean stay, with surprising amounts of amenities, for a rock bottom price. 

I've looked at a few of the reviews. It's hard since I never look for the cheaper side of rooms. I probably stay mostly at 4-star type hotels, and that is my baseline. But I wasn't going to insult my host who put me up here. So it's hard to say how best to rate this property. I guess I came in with extremely low expectations and it exceeded them in many ways. It is no Hilton or Westin. But when it's a fraction of the price, what should you expect. The AC kept the room cool, the bed kept me warm, the towels dried me off, and the shower worked without leaking. Sounds like they met the essentials. Perhaps I just don't expect a lot from a budget motel. But this place worked without issue.

Also here is a general tip about booking a hotel: They always make more money when you book direct, even if the price is the same. So when you read reviews about room experiences, often they put those who book direct in better rooms over those they make less money on. It makes sense overall. Something to just consider when booking your hotel stay. Consider booking direct - sometimes it can make the difference between a better room or one in need of maintenance.
