BEWARE!!!  WEBSITE PICTURES ARE NOT WHAT THE PLACE LOOKS LIKE!!!
We stayed for 3 days in the VERANDA:

1.  KITCHEN:
     The photos on their website are NOTHING in the way of accurate
     The floor had huge gaps and completely missing pieces of wood, causing a tripping hazard
     Curtains were only the top valance ... no bottom curtain
     STOCKED KITCHEN:  laughable - 4 forks, NO SPOONS, two frying pans, one kitchen towel, no paper towels
     The one time we used the toaster, it had gunk on it that smoked out the kitchen

2.  LIVING ROOM:
     The website pictures show a nice couch, coffee table with rug underneath.
     Instead, there was a large daybed too high to use the coffee table, no rug
     2nd night a fuse blew so we were unable to watch TV in the living room for the rest of our stay
     While attempting to check the plugs, we found old garbage from other guests behind the entertainment center
     We also discovered garbage behind the furniture in the back bedroom when we had to pull the little TV out to watch
     Curtain rods were hanging crooked and I personally fixed them
     Plywood boarded up one of the large "view" windows

3.  BATHROOM:
     The second night we were there, the downstairs guest came up and asked if we were "running water".  My friend was in the shower
     I was told by the other guest that water was pouring into their space.
     Shortly after that, were were told that the water was shut off
     I had NOT had time to shower
     AND we could not flush the toilet ALL NIGHT AND THE ENTIRE NEXT DAY!!!

     Since we were unable to rinse or wash our dishes which were used at this point, the kitchen reaked.
    Housekeeping at least offered to take our dishes (that we had to load) and washed them.
     In the evening, after returning from a very long, hard working day, we were told we still could NOT use the shower!!!
     We had dinner plans and were told we could shower at the housekeeping quarters.
     Had to schlep our stuff to walk down to housekeeping to shower and poop!!!

We had gone up to help a dear friend with her house. I suggested to her she ask for a portion of the cost ($547!!!) back for all of the inconvenience we experienced.  She was offered $50 and the owner (Jodie, hung up on her)

I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND STAYING AT THIS FILTHY, BROKEN DOWN PLACE!!!

ANYTHING BUT A "RETREAT"

Our little cottage overlooked the swimming pool and the lake. This little cottage was quaint and had many amenities such as washer, dryer, coffee pot, microwave, pots, pans, dishes, silverware everything you would need to cook with. Although there were problems with the television signal who cares! I would recommend staying at this quaint little resort with its own fishing dock right across the road where you can fish day or night. Dog friendly too!

Wonderful Experience at the Baldwin Resort

Just spent four nights in the Veranda at Baldwin's Retreat.  We spent the first half-hour to an hour cleaning up the place!  The BBQ was caked with grease and filth.  The glass table on the little patio area was filthy with cigarette butts on the ground.  There were broken handles on the kitchen cabinets, dirty dishes on the shelves.  The master bedroom light switch did not work.  There was no wine opener and the CD player would not work.  Add to that, the pool had clots of algae floating on the water with bottle caps and dirt at the bottom of the pool.  The water had a green glow from the lack of care.  Although I asked the "handyman" who was on the property to please clean the pool, we left and came back to a pool that was only partly clean.  We later found broken glass in the pool area.  The management did the minimal amount to keep up this property.  And we paid more than $150/night.  And this place is directly on the highway across the street from their pier and the water, so the noise from the road and the many logging trucks is constant and LOUD.  While the Veranda is roomy and the air-conditioning worked, I feel this place was overpriced and not kept in good shape.  Do NOT be fooled by the pictures!
