First, we had to leave early because of a crisis we had at our house.  With that said:

This place was poorly run and not at all managed.  We stayed the night of Sunday, August 15, 2021.  Earlier in the day I called Joe, the owner, to ask him if there was a refrigerator in the room because we would need it when we arrived.  He said there was but didn't bother to turn it on.  When we arrived, in the room there was no facial tissue and only one cup for two of us for brushing teeth etc.  A headboard above the bed was  loosely attached and moving around and both my wife and I wondered if it would fall or not.  Most headboards are tight against the wall.  The shower door had to be slammed shut to shut it and if we didn't shut it correctly  there would be water all over the floor. When I reserved this place there was a menu that listed what was for breakfast..eggs, with sausage, etc.  The owner told us during our conversation earlier on Sunday that we would only have a continental breakfast.  I didn't object but I'm curious that if I did if he would have refunded our money since it was long after the cancellation deadline.  Why is there a menu listing when the food on it isn't available.  The owner said that due to COVID he wasn't permitted to cook.   If the owner really was concerned about COVID why did he have boxed cakes, cut in pieces but placed so that anyone could put their hands on the food. We were the only people in the Inn but if there had been others my own feeling is that the way food was packaged was hardly safe.  In addition a butter knife in the butter was dirty. If the owner was really concerned about COVID he would make sure that there would be separate butter or cream cheese packets. The only staff present was a cleaning woman who we saw at breakfast.   I called another local bed and breakfast and they said they did serve a hot breakfast.  Maybe there wasn't a hot breakfast available because during the entire time we were there we never saw the owner.  I was under the impression he didn't really care about his guests.  I also took the time to read other reviews and noticed that the owner responds somewhat defensively to negative reviews and also that he is never around.   So, some advice:  If you REALLY care about running a bed and breakfast...a...show up to show you really care about your establishment...and b...if you don't want to serve a hot breakfast, as you advertise, then take that part of your website OFF the page!!  That is false advertising!

Enjoyed my stay at Hayden Creek so much that I have returned to stay again. Waking up to coffee and a lovely breakfast in the breakfast room overlooking the beautiful gardens and a creek..very peaceful and relaxing setting. Thank you Joe for the wonderful accomodations and I will definitely be back to stay again.

Absolutely Loved Haydencreek! Everything was great from The Breakfast to our room. My younger son was playing baseball in Cooperstown so he and my husband had to stay in the complex there. My older son and I stayed here. We had one of the outside rooms, so we were able to enjoy the big front porch and had access from our room to the backyard which was beautiful. It was so nice to come back and relax here everyday after being at baseball for hours and hours each day. Will definitely be returning next August.

We've been coming back year after year to attend Glimmerglass Opera. Hayden Creek has been our sanctuary. Lovely setting, comfortable, unpretentious. Wonderful breakfasts!  Nice people!  We look forward to our visits each summer! Highly recommend!

We love Hayden Creek!

We stayed there for 4 nights in room 10.  We were there for the Baseball Hall of Fame which is 9 easy miles down the road.  The Inn's upkeep was good.  There is always room for improvement.  We enjoyed the staff that worked there and they were very helpful with their knowledge of the area and local activities.  The breakfast was tasty and there was a good variety.  The room was dated...old tvs and microwaves but they worked and we weren't there for that.  It isn't a hotel chain so it is supposed to be quaint and have a personality.  The internet in room 10 was not good but in the common area it was strong and quick.  There is a stream out the back yard and we saw a couple of deer in the morning when we were eating.  All in all a very relaxing place to stay.  We met several very friendly people from other places at the breakfast every morning.  One thing that would improve the comfort of the room would be to install ceiling fans to circulate the air in the rooms.

Pleasant stay and great personnel

No owner when we showed up but keys and note were on the desk.  We had a serious issue with the room with something not working so we called the number on the desk (NJ area code).  I was subjected to serious abrasive attitude, told it was our fault and more.  Basically, the place is seedy, needs paint, repair and is musky.  The breakfast was just so-so but the woman who served it was very pleasant; the absentee owner/innkeeper needs lessons from her in customer service.  Oh yes, the place is overgrown with weeds and up for sale which could be why it's neglected.

Avoid This Run Down Place

Came up for the Hall of Fame and stayed here for 2 nights. Bed was really comfy and I actually slept through the night which I never do at home. Stayed in room 4 which was pretty big and had a side entrance leading to the backyard and parking area. Sat out back by the creek and saw a groundhog and some chipmunks. Recommend you bring supplies (bottled Water, soda..) as the only things close by are a couple of antique shops, fire station and post office. Fine by me as I just wanted some peace and quiet. Breakfast consisted of eggs and sausage, but they also have cereal, oatmeal as well as coffee, tea and juice. Overall a nice little weekend getaway.

Quiet....with groundhogs.

Springfield Center is about 9 miles north of Cooperstown.  We picked this B&B based on recommendations from friends and were not disappointed.  The staff were very friendly.  We happened to be the only guests this weekend.  We had a lovely room with a private bath and very good beds; access to the yard and the front porch.  Breakfast had coffee and tea available, eggs, waffles, toast, cereal, and a couple of other things.
