We took the boat ride at the springs. It was very nice. Steven was our tour guide and he did a fantastic job pointing out all the wildlife and giving lots of interesting information about the area. Great trip for everyone.  We saw a lot of manatees!

Great boat ride

We visited Wakulla Springs State Park to take a boat tour on the Wakulla River. We arrived early enough to have lunch in the Lodge dining room. A wide variety of menu items were offered at reasonable cost. My wife ordered a Caesar Salad with chicken which was very good. I had the Lodge Burger grilled just the way I like it.
The 45 minute boat tour was great! We saw many manatees, lots of alligators from infant size up to 8-10 foot long, and a wide variety of birds, turtles, along with a racoon and red-tailed hawk. The boat captain gave a very informative and entertaining description of  the wildlife and scenery. Adult tickets cost only $8. Reservations are required for the boat tour.
The weather was cool, which apparently helps to draw the manatees to swim up river from the Gulf.
We highly recommend the boat tour and dining in the Lodge.

Fantastic boat tour - manatees and alligators!

I spent a lovely time at Wakulla Springs and enjoyed the boat trip. Our guide was very knowledgeable and draw our attention to a lot of animals. 
It was the first time I saw alligators in the wild! 
I wish the trip would have lasted longer and I hope to be back again when it's warmer.

Florida at its best!

The lodge is a lovely place to relax within the park. Our room, 26 had a king bed. The furnishings & decor appear original Mediterranean revival style. 
Despite asking for a quiet room without adjoining doors we were  to find ours adjoined another but the young man checking us in told me not to worry as no one was in the room. Unfortunately that didn’t hold true as after 10 pm we were woken by a very loud family arriving. We stuffed all the towels & pillows we could find but it didn’t help cut down the noise much. So just be sure to bring ear plugs if this matters to you. The other thing we dealt with was the lobby fireplace smoke venting & coming into our bathroom.

Authentic experience in the state park

The boat, driver and everyone around was great.  The amount of wildlife was also great.  Highly recommend it.  I didn't think I would see as much as I did because it was in the low 30s at the start of the day.  Plenty of gators and manatees.  Even saw some otters.

The Northern Florida Everglades.  Excellent 

We came here as part of a road trip and enjoyed the history of Wakulla Springs.  The lodge rooms are basic in that there is no TV or frig.  The bathrooms have large tubs that are great for taking a nice bath.  The beds are very comfortable.  Everything is pretty much original so the sink is not part of a large vanity so there is not much counter space in the bathroom.  One annoyance was how loud the doors slammed in the hallways.  The doors to the rooms close automatically and it is loud.  There is a fun gift shop to browse and they sell lots of cards, toys, ornaments, games, shirts, hats, etc. etc.  They don't sell stamps though!  We had booked a boat ride which we were looking forward to.  Sadly, the boat was broken and they have no back up.  This seemed very short-sided on their part.  Have a back up boat!  We greatly enjoyed our dinner and breakfast at the dining room.  We ran into people who had been coming to Wakulla Springs for decades and we can understand why.  It's just a charming, calm place to come and relax.

Charming respite from the hustle bustle

We had a small (7) family get together at the Lodge restaurant and then the river boat tour.  Everyone had a great meal and the boat tour was fantastic.  They do a great job of keeping the prices very reasonable.  Our only disappointment was that the day was so warm, we didn't see any manatee, but we did see many different birds and plenty of alligators.  This was a return trip and we will be back again.

Family reunion

Took the boat tour and it was wonderful. We went around 1pm on a sunny 70degree day in February. It’s supposed to be a 45 minute boat ride and ours last over an hour. Our boat operator wasn’t the most talkative but could answer any questions we had. He seemed to enjoy the boat tour as much as the guests. We saw several manatees, gators, beautiful birds and lovely scenery. I highly recommend spending an afternoon here.

Wonderful afternoon boat tour at Wakulla Springs

Overall a wonderful experience at the Lodge. Have visited the park and dining room many times previously - first time to stay overnight at the lodge.  We chose a Bed & Breakfast package and were completely satisfied.  Room was clean and spacious. We were there for a party in the Terrace where the service and food were exceptional.  Likewise the following morning at breakfast. Loved reading about the building of the lodge.  Well done everyone!

Delighted!

This boat ride is about an hour long but it is the most interesting trip you can take. Ranger Colin took us into the Wakulla Springs and we saw alligators, manatees and several species of colorful birds. He pointed out many of them to us and explained their lifestyles and the history of the area. He even sang a song as he played his guitar.
This is one trip well worth the time and money. We recommend it to anyone in the area to take. A merchant in one of the seafood businesses told us to take it and we’re very glad he did.
