Lovely surroundings, friendly helpful staff, vintage kind of place in a tiny town surrounded by tall plateaus with Dan'l Boone history and great walking trails! Located in three states! great little cafe nearby (walking distance) open 12 hrs a day, 7 days a week - good little bars and shops, and friendly locals proud of their town. 

History and comfort combined!

This place is a good value.  It is old and could use some help but overall it was clean and quiet.  It was near good restaurants and the park. The front desk was not the friendliest but got the job done. 

Good room for the price 

We was very disappointed with this hotel. We booked because close to family. The room smelled very musty to start off. Then the room was damp. We hung clothes up to wear the next day and they all was wet. I told the receptionist and she didn’t really care. I won’t stay there again and wouldn’t recommend it.

Disappointed 

A quiet retreat and only a few hundred yards by walking trail to the saddle of the gap!  If you love history, this is your place!  And the staff made me feel very at home and went the extra mile to make my visit comfortable.  Thank You!!

Terrific Value!

We booked this place as it was the only place we could find with vacancy in the area we were visiting. 

While it appears nice on the outside, the King room we had was in need of dire help. 

- There were zero nightstands - only a table serveral feet from the bed. 
- Limited and poor lighting
- A shower that floods the bathroom floor, so you end-up using most all of the towels to mop up the water al over the bathroom
- No suitcase stands or anywhere to place your suitcase on its side for easy access to your clothes
- The shower, while sporting a nice dual-shower head setup, has almost no place to set your shampoos/conditions and soaps - thus you end-up trying to balance them on the railing in the shower. 

No desire to go back

The room was not at a comfortable temperature when we arrived so it took a while for the room to cool down enough, although thankfully the air did work. The toilet didn’t flush at first but we did finally get it working, there was a to go box with left overs in the fridge ( presumably left by the previous occupant) ,  the top cover on one of the beds had hair on it, and the mattresses were too firm. 2/10. Do not recommend 

Adequate but not Desirable.

NO HEAT. Did go to office to report as there was no in-room phone. Person in attendance came to see unit. He couldn’t get it going. Regular managers were shopping, and he would let them know so they could help. It was after 9 PM, we were cold and tired from driving a distance, so we asked for blankets, as there were none in room, until issue could be resolved. We were given two VERY WORN blankets and waited for assistance. And waited. And waited. 10:30PM and no one came. We were snuggled on the “bouncy,” uncomfortable bed, under the blankets using body heat to be relatively warm. It was February in the mountains; temperature in the mid-30’s. After shivering for several hours, sleep came due to exhaustion.
At dawn’s early light, we quickly dressed in our jeans, sweatshirts, and warm clothes. Got in our car and fled. At least our car had HEAT. 
As an extension: 7 days after our experience, I am nursing a fever, cough, headache, runny nose, and sore throat. It cost us $91 and a night at the Cumberland Gap Inn to get it.
P.S. Tested negative for COVID. YAY!!!

Bring Your Heater

An older property however the room was VERY clean and the bathroom/sink area had been updated.  Room was very comfortable, well appointed, free Wi-Fi,  and reasonable price.  You can step out the back door of the room for a quiet place to sit and enjoy nature...I would stay again if in the area.

Older but very well kept, worth the price

Very helpful staff, very cozy, comfy rooms with excellent jacuzzi and nice hot water - coffee, soaps, all the usual things you expect, all in a vintage motel with attractive decor, free wifi, and nature trails in every direction. We have been here several times and will be back many times more!

Lovely vintage inn, friendly staff, enjoyable natural surroundings

This hotel is not going to wow you with how it looks, but then again the town is small and old as well.  For $69, it was just right for me as I was traveling alone.  Easy to walk to the small town and grab dinner,and breakfast was an easy walk to a nice coffee shop on the creek.  But the place is old, clean but old.  The manager lives in a room next door to the office, and her mother took my reservation and checked me in.  So, for the money and being able to walk around town, I enjoyed it.  But, know what you are getting.for the price.
