The community is super pet/large dog friendly. I’m telling you everyone here loves dogs and doesn’t discrimate what breed, they definitely need more places like this especially for the price. I also love that the residents come up to you and say hello, just a very friendly community. Everyone’s smiling all the time. Check in is a smooth process. However my unit (254)..was not a good stay. When we arrived we saw a couple dead roaches behind the door and under the sink. We were supposed to stay from 09/19-09/25, but everyday since we’ve arrived we’ve come across either dead/alive roaches. So we decided to cut our trip short due to the pest issue because it was getting real uncomfortable. I’ve mentioned it to the host whom I’m assuming must’ve overlooked the issue because when I texted him it was also included the garbage disposal leaking. I felt like my boyfriend, dog and I got stuck with a new unit that the hosts just bought and were trying to rush someone into it right away. There were no reviews on this unit from previous Airbnb’ers and I also got a call from a pest company who wanted to know if they can stop by on a day I was there to do a treatment. I mean..this was a vacation for us and you want us to inconvenience ourselves from our plans for a treatment we aren’t even supposed to be apart of. The apartment was nice, just looked like it was rushed cleaning it. Saw paper tape wrapped up around a wall outlet (fire hazard). I must say that when I finally pushed the pest issue with the host he was very apologetic and gave us a refund on a night since we decided to check out a day early. Hopefully they fix this issue. If you decide to rent from this host, just not unit 254.

Pest Issue

The listing is misleading.  This is not a  hotel.  It is privately owned condominium units rented out by the owner of the units as Airbnb. Lock boxes on the door.  Only rent if you are comfortable with staying at Airbnb’s and know what to expect when doing so.

Hotel renovated to condos.  Location good.  The resident self appointed manager is rude and disrespectful.  Nice place get rid of the manager nosey neighbors.  The  manager was at my door trying to get in.   She did not know we were standing behind her.

This is a very delayed review but having read some of the negative comments, I felt compelled to reply.  This summer was our 3rd stay at Duke Towers and we loved it.  My daughter was married in Durham in June,  My husband and I arrived in May, thus we booked for a month.  We also booked a block of rooms for guests.  Every one of our Iowa//Wisconsin/Texas guests were extremely pleased, not only with the beauty of the grounds and the rooms, but also the courtesy of the staff.  For the price, they were amazed at the amenities. When my husband suddenly became ill and the need to extend indefinitely was apparent, it was done.  He passed away and the support and compassion shown by the staff was unbelievable.  I love Duke Towers

My Favorite Place to Stay

I was put up here for a film festival and while it was fine and suited the purpose of the visit, I must say it's a very weird and bizarre place.  I'd have never picked this place on my own.  The "double" accommodation room is made up of two double/full-sized beds (not Queens) and a fold out sofa.  I imagine the "king" rooms had an actual King bed.  There should be a smoking section in the middle of the courtyard as the center of the space is far enough away from any of the walls.

Imagine a mix of Melrose Place, long-term low-income housing and an old folk's home

My wife and I spent 5 weeks at this hotel due to a research stay at Duke University, the first thing that stands out about the Duke Tower is the location: between the university's east campus and Downtown. The Brightleaf Square Bar area is a 10-minute walk away and access to any part of the city is very easy thanks to the transportation provided by the hotel. The rooms are very nice, clean and equipped with everything necessary. The hotel staff is very friendly and close, from the maintenance staff to the security and transport staff and the pool is clean and well maintained.
