I was kind of apprehensive about this place, but honestly, I so glad u chose to stay here. I stayed two nights and it was the first time I booked a hotel and took a trip with just me and a friend. No parents or anyone. But this was a fantastic first experience. The host was extremely kind and friendly and knew a lot about what to do and places to eat in the area. And although the hallways smelled a bit like smoke and it was a little rough around the edges, the room and very nice and clean, the bedding was soft and comfy, and I would for sure return if I'm ever back in the area.

Not perfect, but phenomenal experience

The sheets smelled of freshness.  The towels were so soft. The owner was very accommodating as we had a very late check in.  He recommended a great place for breakfast.  The bed was comfortable.  The motel was full and we didn't hear any noise from other guests. It is an old building and is in need of some upgrades.  We were just there to sleep so it was perfect for us.  We would stay there again.

Thanks Scott for your hospitality! We stayed in #19, it was clean a spacious. Lots of great suggestions of where to eat! Visit Mel’s Bakery and Diner! I will definitely be staying here again! You’ll enjoy too. 

Best kept secret…

Stayed for one night in an upstairs room. Not sure how all the reviews say it's clean - the bathroom and bedding were dirty and we felt gross here. Not sure if this was a one-off or if we just got a bad room as a lot of other reviews mentioned it was clean, which led us to book here. Unfortunately, there is also a lingering smell of smoke despite the no-smoking signs. 

Service was nice and friendly, but overall our room was dirty and the hotel and room had a smell of smoke. Will probably book elsewhere next time even if we have to drive further. We look at reviews to help us make our decision on where to stay and the positive reviews mislead us - hope this honest review helps.

Friendly service, but lingering smoke smell and room was not clean

Needed a place to stay in the area, and the Chaffee Lodge fit our needs. Room was fine. Bed comfortable. Clean. No breakfast provided, but there was free coffee. Plenty of places to eat nearby. We would return to the Chaffee Lodge.

Clean hotel -- good price

I Was in the area on business and decided on this place. No frills or fuss. Room was comfortable just what I expected. Desk clerk was very nice and gave me a few suggestions of a place for a beer and dinner. (Fitzys was good) 
I stayed upstairs in #19. Quite room with a flatscreen tv and lots of channels to choose from.
I didn’t have any coffee or anything in the morning, there is a Tim Hortons right down the street... 

All in all, a good stay. Just don’t expect any frills. Comfortable bed and clean sheets.
No complaints.

Clean sheets & A place to rese

My son and I were going to holiday valley to ski. There aren’t many places under $200/night near there. Trust me, I looked! Decided to gamble on Chaffee Lodge (30 minutes away from HV and right next to KB). We were Pleasantly surprised! Man at the desk was great! Told us the best places where to eat in the town. Room had everything we needed: medium size refrigerator, microwave, tv., etc. The room smelled like smoke but wasn’t the end the world. Very clean. No breakfast buffet but there’s a Tim Hortons and BK in the town. Whenever we go to HV or KB, we will stay there. 

Much Cheaper than staying at a ski resort

My girlfriend and I went to New York for a skiing weekend and stayed at Chaffee Lodge. The lodge is close to KB, but we went to Holiday Valley as they had more snow, and therefore had a bit longer drive to get to the resort (about 30 minutes). The staff was welcoming and eager to tell us about the town and the local places to dine. We had a king bed which was very comfortable and the room was spacious. The lodge was the best value for price in the area. The only issue was the common areas of the lodge smelled of smoke which wasn't a problem for us as we were gone most of the time and the room smelled clean. I would recommend staying here!

Stay at Chaffee Lodge: Very Good Stay

My boyfriend and I stayed here while he was in town for work, so we were just looking for a cheap and clean hotel. The Chaffee Lodge was a very pleasant surprise with clean rooms and bathrooms. The owner and the man at the front desk were very kind and eager to make our stay pleasant. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quaint lodge on a budget.

Great hotel for the price

Located at the crossroads of Rt.16 and Rt.39 in Chaffee N.Y., independently owned.  Needed just a basic hotel room while visiting an ill relative for a couple of weekends.  Scott, on the front desk, was very pleasant and suggested to book directly next time, as I could have gotten a better rate than what I paid through the travel site.  The lodge could use some updating and there are no frills, but, most importantly, it was clean.  Plenty of parking on site.  Long term lodging is available as there were construction workers occupying several rooms.  Considering they were completely booked, I never heard any noise from any of the other rooms or the workers leaving in the morning. Being by myself, I did not feel uncomfortable with the surroundings.
     Limited shopping is a short distance away.
     Tim took care of my reservation the second weekend and was equally just as pleasant.
      A nice country restaurant, Strawberry Fields, is a short distance across the intersection.
